I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 746: Chapter 28: Kingly Bearing

UEFA Champions League Round of 16

Gerland Stadium

Facing Gourcuff’s provocation, Chen Zhong bravely took the ball from Cristiano Ronaldo’s hands and stood at the free-kick point under Gourcuff’s amazed gaze.

Want to see me take a free kick?

No problem! But don’t cry if I score!

Gourcuff could clearly feel Chen Zhong’s body language through his expression and actions.

”Yoann...” Beside Gourcuff, Pjanic looked a bit nervous, appearing to want to say something but hesitated, while Gourcuff quickly calmed down after a brief shock.

”Don’t worry, Miralem!” Gourcuff confidently said to Pjanic, ”Cristiano is their number one free-kick taker. His presence here will just waste a fantastic free-kick opportunity for Real Madrid.”

This free kick was about 30 meters from the goal, and when Cristiano Ronaldo was with Premier League Manchester United, he scored many miraculous tomahawk-style free-kick goals.

In contrast, although Chen Zhong also scored some free kicks, he wasn’t seen as a free kick master.

With this mindset, having Chen Zhong take the free kick was a success for Gourcuff.

After all, Chen Zhong wasn’t Pirlo, who could shoot free kicks like penalties, nor was he Beckham, whose Crescent Blade and Beckham’s Arc amazed the world as the little Becks.

Gourcuff and Pjanic whispered to each other, growing more and more confident.

In front of the goal, Lori wasn’t at all relaxed like the two of them.

Lori had already been penetrated twice by Chen Zhong’s thunderous shots, and on both occasions, it wasn’t about reaction or skill—it was Chen Zhong’s sheer power, and the ball’s speed and force were unacceptable to Lori...

If Lori had to choose someone to take the free kick, he might prefer Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lori loudly commanded the wall in front of the goal. If possible, he hoped the ball would hit the wall first...

Both Gourcuff and Pjanic were over 180 CM tall and part of the wall.

They watched Chen Zhong with his thick thighs and strong physique as he measured the ground beneath him and slowly retreated, fear rising in their hearts...

If...

Chen Zhong’s free kick hit their heads directly...

It might kill someone, right?

They recalled Chen Zhong’s two thunderous, powerful cannon shots during the game, and couldn’t help but worry secretly.

”C. Ronaldo has given up the free kick!”

”Chen Zhong takes the ball.”

”He’s standing in front of it.”

”He’s going to take this free kick!”

”The ball is about 30 meters from the goal.”

”Very few can score directly from this distance.”

”I don’t think he’ll choose to shoot directly.”

”Adebayor, C. Ronaldo, and Kaka are all near the penalty area; he should choose to pass.”

The domestic commentator expressed his conjecture, which was relatively reserved, but the foreign commentator was more direct.

”Chen is taking the free kick?”

”He just won the Ballon d’Or.”

”An excellent midfielder.”

”But at this distance, even Cristiano would find it hard to score.”

”This distance is just too far for him.”

”If he shoots directly, he certainly can’t score!”

”I bet he wants to coordinate with his teammates.”

”He won’t choose to shoot directly.”

”Chen starts to run...”

”Kicks!”

”OMG, OMG!”

”Woooooooo!”

Watching Chen Zhong stand in front of the ball, people had all kinds of speculations, but in Chen Zhong’s heart, there was only one thought.

He took deep breaths again and again, with a hint of ferocity and determination in his eyes.

He displayed his powerful thighs, then gathered strength, pushed off, ran, and kicked!

”Boom!”

The ball lifted powerfully with an arc, carrying strength and speed!

Lyon’s wall leaped high, and Gourcuff, watching the incoming ball, tried to block it with his head but could only feel the ball’s ”wind” as it flew past...

From Lori’s perspective, he only saw a ball shadow coming from the edge of the high-leaping wall.

Lori reacted immediately, but the ball still brushed the goalpost and entered the net.

”Ahhhhhhhhhhh!”

”An incredible long-distance free kick!”

”Goalkeeper Lori reacted, but there was no way to stop this goal!”

”The ball almost hugged the post as it went into the net!”

”Hat-trick!”

”Chen Zhong completed a hat-trick, scoring the third goal of the match!”

”3-0”

”Chen Zhong! Chen Zhong!”

Compared to the ”calm” domestic commentary, the foreign commentators went completely crazy.

At first, they were saying, ”Such a long distance is beyond Chen’s capabilities.” ”Over 30 meters, this isn’t a position for Chen to shoot directly!” ”Chen shouldn’t have seized this right; he fell into the opponent’s trap. He should be preparing to compete for a header in the penalty area, where he can best display his strength.”

And now, they seemed to have transformed into marmots, expressing their emotions through shouts of surprise and cries of ’Chen, Chen, Chen.’

Even one Real Madrid fan commentator put on a shirt-ripping performance, tearing his shirt to reveal his muscles, and raising his arms high, chanting Chen’s name!
