I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 716: Chapter 15: Dominance

In the stands, Sevilla fans threw debris onto the field, with two mineral water bottles being the most conspicuous.

One missed, but the other flew directly at Chen Zhong.

The targeted player, however, showed no sign of panic, raising his right hand to firmly catch the bottle.

The liquid inside splashed everywhere. Chen Zhong brought the bottle close, took a sniff, and after confirming there was no strange odor, poured some into his mouth, the rest over his head, and then spat out the water as he tossed the bottle off the field.

This scene was captured on camera, allowing viewers to clearly see, in slow motion, the splattering water droplets as Chen Zhong shook his head.

Moreover, in this match, Chen Zhong had already caused two Sevilla players to exit due to injury.

All of this couldn’t help but prompt the fans to discuss.

”That’s just too fierce!”

”Whoa, he caught the bottle mid-air and drank it straight away.”

”Sevilla is really unfortunate; one player got injured tackling, and another got hurt from a tackle.”

”Both substitute slots were used passively!”

”Is this the legendary Super Saiyan? I shall call him Demon Chen.”

...

After making Sevilla change players twice consecutively, Sevilla, who had been adopting a hard-line defensive strategy, began to alter their tactics by crowding their players in their own half, trying to stifle Real Madrid with sheer numbers.

Even though it was their home ground and they had talked tough before the match, it was clear that Sevilla had placed their bets on the next round at Bernabeu.

For them, not conceding a goal or losing this match meant victory.

Their tight defense indeed posed challenges for Real Madrid.

There were opportunities, but the Christmas tree formation surprised the opponents, though the team wasn’t highly familiar with this setup.

”Real Madrid’s attack.”

”Chen Zhong with the ball.”

”A very clever lob pass.”

”C. Ronaldo and Kaka advancing.”

”C. Ronaldo!”

”Palop rushes out, punching the ball away!”

This attack was arguably the most threatening one from Real Madrid in the first half, and subsequently, their few shots either got blocked or went over.

Most of Real Madrid’s offense had to rely on the players’ outstanding individual skills to find opportunities.

Though Sevilla didn’t launch the offensive or achieve victory as they boasted before the game, they forged an iron-clad defense in front of the goal.

”Real Madrid’s attack.”

”Chen Zhong takes the ball outside the penalty area.”

”Pushes the ball forward.”

”In position to shoot.”

”Shoots!”

Chen Zhong pushed the ball forward and powered up.

A powerful heavy cannon shot headed towards the goal, but unfortunately, it deflected off a defending player, resulting in a bottom shot.

This was just a synopsis of Chen Zhong’s long shots in this match.

Every attempt Chen Zhong made was of high quality, but lacked a bit of ”luck.”

Sometimes Chen Zhong wonders, if only his [Heavy Cannon] had other attributes.

That kind of heavy cannon with arc might solve the problem at this time.

Or if the characteristic of super violent long shots could be at a higher level, then even from a farther distance, it could fly straight into the top corner like a plane taking off?

Real Madrid also tried to shoot after dribbling inside the box, but the densely packed Sevilla players always negated their attempts.

Ultimately, the score was fixed at 0:0.

The two teams ended the first leg in a draw.

And when the final whistle blew, the entire Pizjuan Stadium was filled with cheers.

In the stands, Sevilla fans, hand in hand, jumped and celebrated loudly, as if they had achieved ultimate victory.

At the post-match press conference, Mourinho used extreme sarcasm towards the match, considering their playing style at home as an act of cowardice.

However, Mansano was satisfied with his team’s performance and, when mentioning the incident of fans throwing debris from the stands, he stated: ”We all know, the fans’ performance was already outstanding enough.”

Some players from both teams also gave interviews.

In this match, Sevilla’s forward Kanoute remarked that the result was a good one, they didn’t fall in front of the unstoppable Real Madrid, and when asked about Chen Zhong, he was not sparing in his praise.

”Did you know?”

”Chen’s first official match for Real Madrid was against us.”

”It was a Spanish Super Cup final, and he changed the outcome with a diving header.”

”Did I foresee his current achievements? To be honest, no, back then I didn’t realize he would be as successful as he is today, but he succeeded, didn’t he?”

Kanoute smiled; compared to a few years ago, he seemed less sharp and aggressive now, which might be one reason his performance has gradually ”declined.”

A forward lacking ambition naturally has less edge.

”In this match, I was actually very worried.”

”Worried he’d score.”

”I didn’t know how he would score, but I had a feeling he would.”
