I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 730: Chapter 21: Am I the Door God?

A 4:0 match, a 7:1 match.

Chen Zhong’s performance, scoring 6 goals in two games, became the focus of media reports.

At their peak form, Real Madrid faced Real Sociedad, crushing the opponent effortlessly, which made their next La Liga opponent, the Spanish, tremble with fear.

After the match, Mourinho praised Chen Zhong’s performance, stating that Chen Zhong is a unique player in La Liga, even unwilling to trade him for Messi.

Mourinho’s statement sparked some controversy, but this ”crazy man” is famous for his ”big mouth,” especially considering he is having a triumphant season in all aspects.

On the evening of February 7, Beijing time, it was announced that Real Madrid coach Mourinho won last season’s Serie A Golden Bench Award in recognition of his outstanding achievements leading Inter in the 2009-2010 season.

In Mourinho’s first season coaching Inter, he led them to the Serie A championship, but in that year’s selection, he lost to then Cagliari coach Allegri, missing out on the award. At that time, Mourinho mocked that he was ”quite satisfied to get 6 or 7 votes.”

In the previous season, the team led by Mourinho not only dominated the Serie A field but also won the Italian Super Cup. More importantly, he led Inter to win the Champions League after more than 40 years, becoming Italy’s biggest football hero, making him the well-deserved frontrunner for this year’s Golden Bench Award.

Ultimately, he successfully defeated coaches Allegri, Del Neri, and Ranieri to receive the Golden Bench Award, becoming Serie A’s Coach of the Year.

Regarding this news, Inter’s official website expressed great excitement, stating, ”Mourinho’s winning of the 2009-2010 season Golden Bench Award brings pride and joy to Inter. This award is an acknowledgment of his career achievements. In the two seasons coaching Inter, Mourinho secured five trophies: two league championships, one Italian Cup, one Italian Super Cup, and one European Champions Cup.”

However, Mourinho did not attend the Golden Bench Award ceremony.

The ”madman,” focused on his work at Real Madrid in Spain, is indeed leading in the La Liga over Barcelona, but the championship situation is not guaranteed.

At the same time, Mourinho achieved admirable results in both the King’s Cup and the Champions League.

After a 7-year gap, they once again advanced to the King’s Cup final and smoothly progressed to the Champions League knockout stage.

Additionally, Del Neri and Ranieri won second and third places in the Golden Bench Award respectively, while Bisoli, who led Cesena to Serie A last season, received the Silver Bench Award, symbolizing being the best Serie B coach.

Zaccheroni, the current head coach of the Japan National Team, received a Special Contribution Award.

While Mourinho was enjoying people’s blessings...

Former Barcelona club chairman Gaspart claimed that when Mourinho joined Barcelona as Bobby Robson’s assistant, he ”almost had no money to live by.”

”Nunes told Robson that he couldn’t hire an outsider as a translator because the club already had someone. But under Robson’s insistence, Barcelona offered Mourinho a monthly salary of 10,000 pesetas (approximately 60 Euros).”

Later, Gaspart met Mourinho at a hotel in Madrid.

The latter told him that a monthly salary of 10,000 pesetas was too low, ”almost unlivable.” So Nunes increased Mourinho’s wages, but the increase wasn’t substantial. Therefore, in the first few months of working in Barcelona, Mourinho had to live for free at a hotel managed by Gaspart.

”At that time, he was living for free in the Arenas Hotel that I owned because he barely had living expenses. Later, people discovered he was not just a translator, and the club then increased his salary, allowing him to afford finding his own place.”

The former Barcelona chairman candidly said in front of the camera, ”I have no special views on Mourinho now, but I think he was a lovable person during his time at Barcelona.”

Before the match against the Spanish, Mourinho responded to these remarks, not commenting on the past since it was a real situation. He simply humbly said, ”I don’t know, but I want to say... I’m not the best coach, but no one is better than me.”

...

In the match against the Spanish, Real Madrid continued to use the 4231 formation.

Adebayor

Cristiano Ronaldo, Chen Zhong, Kaka

Khedira, Alonso

Marcelo, Cavaleiro, Pepe, Alvaro

Casillas

In this match against the Spanish, Adebayor started the game.

In the recent two matches, Adebayor delivered excellent performances as a substitute, so in this match, Mourinho clearly wanted to give the Togo striker a chance to perform.

Although Real Madrid was playing away in this match, almost no one was worried before the game.

After all, Real Madrid boasted an impressive record of 6 wins in their last six encounters with the Spanish, and historically, Real Madrid also maintained a strong upper hand.
