I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 740: Chapter 25: Chen—A Goal Machine!

Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, a cacophony of voices, fans gathered together, singing loudly to show their support for the team.

This season, Real Madrid is advancing triumphantly on all three fronts, still comfortably leading the league, having reached the King’s Cup final, and enjoying a favorable position in the Champions League.

The fans’ attention for this match is mainly focused on the position occupied by Chen Zhong, and this issue was clarified before the game!

”CCTV, CCTV!”

”It is now 3 AM Beijing time.”

”Today’s broadcast is of a highlight match from the 2010-2011 Spanish La Liga, 24th round.”

”Many fans were concerned before the match about which position Chen Zhong would play.”

”But from the starting lineup announced by both teams, it seems Chen Zhong has returned to his familiar position.”

In this match, Real Madrid employed a 4-3-3 formation:

Callejon, Benzema, Di Maria

Granero, Chen Zhong, Parejo

Marcelo, Cavaleiro, Albiol, Ramos

Adan

Real Madrid underwent a large-scale rotation, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka not starting, and Alonso and Khedira also had the chance to rest in midfield.

Yet, even in this situation at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, players gather around Chen Zhong, still asserting dominance.

”Real Madrid’s attack!”

”Chen Zhong gets the ball!”

”Passes it to Callejon!”

”Charging towards the penalty area!”

”Falling to the ground!”

”Penalty! Penalty!”

”The referee decisively calls a penalty!”

”Levante’s players are definitely not satisfied with this decision.”

”They surround the referee, hoping he will change his decision.”

”But the referee remains unmoved.”

”Chen Zhong stands at the penalty spot.”

Callejon, after being on the field for only about 2 minutes, managed to win a penalty for the team. After winning the penalty, he wisely cradled the ball in his arms and ran towards Chen Zhong.

He had no intention of taking the penalty himself.

After getting the ball, Chen Zhong first looked at the team’s primary penalty taker, Benzema, who was intently watching from afar, unwilling to come forward to ”compete” for the kick.

In fact, Benzema initially wanted to take this penalty.

But seeing Chen Zhong surrounded by Granero, Callejon, Parejo, and other Real Madrid academy players, he suddenly felt a wave of ”timidity” and ”apathy.”

Levante players continued protesting around the referee, but after stern warnings from the referee, they could only disperse.

Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, the stands echoed with Real Madrid fans chanting ”Chen.”

As for Benzema?

people cared.

Benzema, just like the other players, stood there, watching Chen Zhong in his number 10 jersey prepare to take the penalty.

”If I ask him for the ball, he would give it to me...” Benzema muttered, suddenly feeling a bit regretful, wanting to be there taking the kick, but his recent ”luck” had been too poor.

Especially after missing a wide-open shot on an empty goal last time, and being repeatedly ”shamed” by the media over that incident, Benzema’s first thought when the team won the penalty was...

If I go for it...

What if I miss?

Playing for Real Madrid indeed brings immense psychological pressure on players.

And from the sidelines, watching this unfold, Cristiano Ronaldo muttered for some unknown reason: ”If it were me, I certainly wouldn’t do that, I’d give the ball to him.”

The ”him” referred to by Cristiano Ronaldo was Benzema.

Their good relationship probably stems from Benzema’s consistent obedience and politeness in the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Levante’s fans continued hoping for a miracle, but Chen Zhong showed no mercy, confidently powering a low shot, breaking through Levante’s goal and successfully scoring the penalty.

”1:0”

”Chen Zhong calmly scores!”

”This is already his 18th league goal of the season.”

”Also his 30th goal for the team in this season!”

league goals are already among the top five scorers in the league, and in the top leagues, most teams’ leading strikers don’t have such stats, while for many, 18 goals in a single season is considered excellent.

After scoring, Chen Zhong ran to the corner flag, executing a standard celebration, interacting with Real Madrid fans.

The Real Madrid fans were enthusiastic, except for the match where Chen Zhong played as goalkeeper, Chen Zhong has consistently demonstrated a 2-3 goals per game average in recent matches, practically scoring at will.

After conceding the goal, Levante was clearly impacted as well.

In the remaining time, they focused more on defense.

Later, Marcelo’s cross from the left was cleared by Levante captain Ballestros.

Shortly after, Chen Zhong and Benzema cooperated, but Benzema missed an exquisite pass after Chen Zhong’s dribble.

This scene also provoked boos from numerous Real Madrid fans on the stands, even leading some to shout Negredo’s name, believing if the center forward was Negredo, he wouldn’t miss Chen Zhong’s pass.
