I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 495: Chapter 3: Transfer: Sweet Poison

”Are you saying Chen agreed to the big-eyed guy joining?”

”With just a few conditions?” Mourinho quickly got this news from Francisco, and he asked in some surprise, ”What conditions?”

”Actually, it’s not really conditions.”

”Chen hopes that the other party can sign a long-term contract, and the club has the option of renewing it. At the same time, the salary is determined based on the player’s appearances and performance.”

Francisco didn’t really understand Chen Zhong’s move. After all, the big-eyed guy had made some unpleasant remarks. According to his thinking, Chen Zhong wouldn’t agree to the big-eyed guy joining.

But Chen Zhong chose to agree, and his agreement would make Mourinho’s obstacles to bringing in the big-eyed guy almost zero.

Could it be because the national team hasn’t called up Chen yet, so this is Chen’s way of retaliation?

It can’t be! It wouldn’t be so foolish, right?

Meanwhile, the higher-ups called Chen Zhong. They wanted to listen to Chen Zhong’s opinion in person, and there was an interesting sentence in it: ”Chen, you are the future of the team. We don’t want to be troubled by some issues.”

To this, Chen Zhong reiterated his stance. He agreed to the big-eyed guy’s joining.

The conditions are still the same: a long-term contract, the option to renew, and starting with the team’s lowest salary bracket.

The higher-ups quickly conveyed their opinion to Florentino. When Florentino heard it, a trace of a smile appeared on his face, and after hanging up the phone, he sighed, ”Grown up, huh!”

After the World Cup, many clubs were interested in the big-eyed guy. Even if Real Madrid rejected him, he could still find a decent team, and it wouldn’t have a significant impact on his career.

However, if he came to Real Madrid, on one hand, fans would certainly be resistant to him because he broke the team’s tradition, spending heavily to bring in such a ”nobody.” On the other hand, fans would have high expectations of him. Real Madrid demands a lot from players, even for players like Kaka and C. Ronaldo, if their performance is not good, they’ll still be booed and criticized.

Even Chen Zhong would have some Real Madrid fans expressing dissatisfaction.

Coupled with media pressure, countless talented players have come to Real Madrid only to never recover from setbacks.

Low-level suppression: Reject the big-eyed guy’s joining.

High-level suppression: Agree to the big-eyed guy’s joining.

How shrewd Florentino is! He quickly understood Chen Zhong’s intentions, but he did nothing because this player was someone Mourinho picked by name, and after all, sacrificing some of Real Madrid’s reputation, what about it?

Just a big-eyed guy!

If he fails, it can only be said it’s his lack of ability.

On the other side, Mourinho relaxed the moment he knew the big-eyed guy’s transfer was approved.

Serie A is gradually declining, La Liga is becoming the world’s top league, or perhaps it already is, plus the invitation from Real Madrid, and he gets to play against Barcelona and Guardiola.

For Mourinho, it’s simply double the fun.

The only issue is the level of support the club gives him.

Whether it was Porto, Chelsea, or Inter Milan, Mourinho received considerable support, but in Real Madrid, just thinking about Pellegrini’s ordeal last season makes it clear they don’t support someone easily.

Regarding the big-eyed guy, Mourinho’s interest wasn’t entirely out of admiration. More, it was a test, to test his authority. If even the big-eyed guy’s transfer could be approved and supported, then his other plans, like bringing in more players under Mendes, could also be realized.

As for the big-eyed guy himself?

He would develop him, but whether he would succeed and to what extent, it still depends on the player himself.

Mourinho sat at his desk, starting to draft the team’s transfer plans for the new season. Because of Chen Zhong’s presence, as long as Chen Zhong doesn’t get injured, Real Madrid’s baseline is set.

Regarding Chen Zhong.

Mourinho learned that he is a ”low-maintenance” player.

His personal life is clean, he trains hard, unites the players, has a ”gentle” personality, and is highly capable. As long as someone doesn’t deliberately oppose him, Mourinho won’t intentionally target Chen Zhong.

In fact, Mourinho himself quite admires players like Chen Zhong.

Comprehensive ability, intelligence in gear.

Unlike...

Unlike that darn Mario Balotelli.

Mourinho reined in his thoughts because if he were to mock Balotelli, he could easily write a thick book.

Sitting at the desk, Mourinho wrote down several names, like his former player Ricardo Carvalho, the German midfielder Sami Khedira from Stuttgart, and Angel Di Maria, who showed amazing talent at Benfica...

These are all players in Mourinho’s plan.

In Real Madrid, the reliable options for center-backs are only Albiol, Pepe, and Ramos who can play there occasionally. He has to bring in a trustworthy center-back.

And in the midfield, although there are players like Chen Zhong, Pirlo, Alonso, Parejo, and Granero, there’s still a lack of suitable supplements on the defense side, and Sami Khedira is a good choice.
