I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 481: Chapter 91: An Absolute Opportunity!

Santiago Bernabeu Stadium

All eyes were focused on Chen Zhong at the edge of the penalty area.

Without the slightest hesitation, he was so confident. Even as the ball hung in mid-air, his thigh swung powerfully toward it.

The Bayern Munich players nearby had no chance to remedy it.

”Boom!”

The ball made an intimate contact with the instep.

It instantly surged upwards, and upon reaching a certain height, it descended like a giant axe, slashing fiercely toward Bayern Munich’s goal.

Hans But, having made two spectacular saves, quickly adjusted his position, his eyes fixed on the ball, stretching his arms out as far as he could, trying to seize Chen Zhong’s shot from mid-air.

The ball made intimate contact with his palm.

Just when Bayern Munich fans were ready to cheer another miraculous save, facing a shot of such intense power, Hans But, as he had shown many times in his career...

His hand slipped!

The ball changed direction, hit the underside of the crossbar, then bounced off Hans But’s back and rolled into the net.

1:0

When Real Madrid scored in the 7th minute of the match,

the entire Santiago Bernabeu Stadium seemed to experience an earthquake.

The Real Madrid fans seemed to raise their hands in unison and celebrated loudly.

”The ball is in, in, in, in!”

”7th minute of the match!”

”Chen Zhong’s volley from outside the penalty area.”

”The quality of this shot was very high.”

”Goalkeeper Hans But stood his ground.”

”But couldn’t control the ball.”

”The ball slipped out.”

”It hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced into the net.”

”1:0”

”Chen Zhong opened the scoring for Real Madrid!”

”This is his 10th goal in this season’s Champions League.”

”With these 10 goals, he continues to lead the scoring chart.”

”There’s still time, plenty of time for Real Madrid!”

”Aggregate score 5:2”

”Real Madrid still have a chance!”

After scoring, Chen Zhong didn’t run to retrieve the ball from the goal; instead, he ran to the corner flag, leaped high, revealing his number 10 jersey. As he landed, his name echoed throughout the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

After the celebration, Chen Zhong ran towards the center circle, waving his arms, indicating to the fans that they could be even more ”enthusiastic.”

Van Gaal stood by the sideline, his face ashen, knowing what he had to do to let his team handle the ”beast” charging through the middle time and again.

But his stubborn mind still believed it was just an accident.

Real Madrid merely exploited a gap in Bayern Munich’s second ball control weakness.

Meanwhile, Pellegrini stood on the sidelines, watching Chen Zhong choose to celebrate rather than retrieve the ball, filled with emotion.

”He’s becoming more and more of a leader,” Pellegrini said to Francisco, ”Look, those fans are practically in love with him.”

In the past, Chen Zhong never celebrated when the team wasn’t leading.

This was, in some way, a good thing, as it represented his desire for victory and his high expectations for the team.

But everything has pros and cons, and when there’s ample time left, celebrating a goal can not only serve to celebrate but also boost the players’ morale, undermine the opponent’s confidence, and energize the atmosphere.

In the past, Chen Zhong didn’t do well in this regard.

But now...

He seems to have gradually figured it out, understanding at 18 how to be a captain.

At the start of the season, Bayern Munich used a 442 formation, but it evolved to a 4231 formation later in the season.

Midfield control and dual-wing attacks were the soul Van Gaal implanted into Bayern Munich.

Schweinsteiger and Van Bommel controlled the rhythm of the game, while Thomas Muller’s positioning attracted the attention of Real Madrid players to some extent.

In this match, Chen Zhong played a ”B2B” role, which was different from his previous ”false center forward.”

As a ”false center forward,” Chen Zhong focused more on organizing and attacking, showing relatively little in defense, but playing as a ”B2B,” his running responsibilities increased.

He needed to cover the area from his own penalty area to the opponent’s penalty area.

When Bayern Munich controlled the rhythm, Chen Zhong quickly retreated from the front line to the backfield.

The ball quickly reached Robben’s feet. By then, he had shed the ”shadow” of his stints at Chelsea and Real Madrid. In his Bayern Munich debut, he came off the bench to receive Ribery’s brilliant pass, scoring twice against the opponent.

After a meaningful eye exchange with Ribery, the two became the famous ”Robbery” duo in Europe.

Especially in this season’s Champions League, by scoring a classic left-foot wonder goal, they helped Bayern Munich achieve a legendary comeback against Manchester United, making ”I still believe in Bayern Munich” a golden phrase among fans.

Even though Robben exchanged pleasantries with Chen Zhong before this match against Real Madrid, he still harbored some resentment about being ”swept out the door.”

Pellegrini, standing by the sideline, couldn’t help but be anxious watching Robben receive the ball.

Playing for Bayern Munich, Robben’s sharp breakthroughs on the right and those cut-in shots had already become a ”trademark.”
