I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 471: Chapter 85: Leading the Frontline 3

At the post-match press conference, someone mentioned this match and C. Ronaldo’s performance.

In this match, Pique seemed to have become C. Ronaldo’s nightmare.

Their heights are similar, and Pique always seems to be able to guess C. Ronaldo’s thoughts, as if he has some sort of trick for marking C. Ronaldo.

In this match, Pique reduced C. Ronaldo’s activity space, blocked his breakthrough paths, which led to C. Ronaldo not having any decent performance in this match.

And then there’s Kaka!

After being away from the field for more than three months, Kaka seemed unable to find his rhythm upon returning to the field. This was one of the crucial reasons Real Madrid got stuck in a stalemate in this match, as they seemed to have put all their pressure on an 18-year-old kid.

Pellegrini didn’t discuss this matter much, and faced with reporters’ questions, he expressed feelings of disappointment about the result of this match, saying, ”I feel very frustrated and powerless.”

”During the first half, we performed well. In fact, we should have controlled the ball more. The Barcelona we saw today is not the Barcelona we see in other matches. We performed better than them and we scored the first goal.”

”However, at halftime, we didn’t make a good response. I had some ideas, but they didn’t get support from the players.”

The reporters looked somewhat strange; everyone knew that Real Madrid’s locker room is now dominated by the ”Chen faction,” and Pellegrini’s meaning was undoubtedly pointing the contradiction at this match’s MVP, Chen Zhong, who scored three goals for the team.

”I was very anxious watching from the sidelines.”

”But I was powerless, and the players were powerless too. In the first half, aside from Barcelona’s goal, I can’t recall them having any other opportunities, while we had 3 to 4 opportunities to score. If we weren’t so impatient, we might have posed a greater threat to the opponents.”

”In the second half, they obviously made changes while we made none, and that’s why we conceded two goals in succession.”

Not far away, Guardiola quietly listened to Pellegrini being interviewed, waiting for Pellegrini to finish before stepping forward. His expression was one of disbelief.

”Is he crazy?”

”Without Chen, he would have already lost this match.”

Guardiola understands Pellegrini; he is a very stable coach in the league, and stability is a commendation, a positive trait for smaller teams.

But for a powerhouse club, Pellegrini’s stability is just mediocre, just lacks character.

Against such a team, if not for Chen Zhong, Guardiola even has the confidence to shut him out completely.

In this match, Barcelona, whether in defense, attack, or organization, had only one point that was difficult to handle, and that was Chen Zhong.

Watching Pellegrini leave, Guardiola faced the cameras, and his first words were filled with gunpowder.

”In this match, we were unable to secure victory.”

”The only reason is Chen.”

”If this match counts as a failed match, I didn’t lose to Real Madrid or Pellegrini, but to Chen.”
