Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

The production team is fervently brainstorming what direction this season’s show should take.

Let’s rewind the clock back a few hours.

After sending off the staff responsible for health checks and video material collection, Li Younan took his weapons and a backpack and headed towards an unexplored place.

He traversed through the forest, and soon, the terrain ahead became steep.

The mountain ahead should be connected to the one behind his camp, but here you can gradually climb upwards, with a relatively gentle slope.

It’s worth mentioning that although Chilco Lake in Canada is considered an alpine area, the lake’s surface is just over 1000 meters above sea level. And judging by the looks, climbing to the top of this mountain would still only have a height difference of about 500 meters. For someone who’s scaled Gongga Mountain like Li Younan, it’s just like climbing a small hill.

In the video, Li Younan explained, ”Guys, listen up, many medium to large-sized wild animals live in the area surrounding the lake. Besides carnivorous animals like bears, lynxes, and gray wolves, there are also musk oxen, reindeer, and mountain goats...”

”As we all know, these large herbivores don’t usually live in forests. We should have access to a vast flat grassland upon climbing up.”

After a simple explanation, Li Younan began climbing towards his destination.

Although his mountaineering skills made climbing various terrains easy, this was still the wilderness, without any paths.

So, while Li Younan spoke of it lightly, he remained on high alert, immersing himself in the natural environment around him. Even a slight rustle would keep him vigilant.

The bow and arrow in his hand were ready to fire at any moment, and his hunting knife at his waist was in an easily accessible position, with the axe handle extending from his right shoulder, ready to become a weapon if necessary.

Nonetheless, as before, the alertness of wild animals was beyond human imagination.

Perhaps, some wildlife had already noticed Li Younan and fled early.

In short, when Li Younan reached the foot of the ridge, all he could hear was the occasional sound of animals fleeing, but no hair of any wild animal was seen.

He felt a bit regretful.

Li Youran opened the camera and regretfully said. Looks like I’ll have to climb up to see what’s up there.

Li Younan walked uphill for a while, clearly feeling that as the altitude increased, the vegetation tended to become sparse.

But not all areas had fewer trees as they went higher. Here, located in the ridge region, more areas have exposed rocks, less conducive to plant growth. However, the advantage is that the view becomes increasingly open.

Suddenly, Li Younan’s gaze stiffened, and he sharply looked ahead to the left, while instantly placing his arrow on the bowstring.

At the limit of his sight, a small black dot was moving.

Li Younan excitedly licked his lips because that little black dot turned out to be a black bear.

Before entering here, the production team repeatedly warned that this was a black bear-infested area. However, upon entering, not a single black bear was seen, leaving Li Younan somewhat skeptical.

He quickly turned on his action camera and said, ”Guys, look what I found, a black bear!”

To ensure the bear was captured, Li Younan even adjusted the camera angle with his hand.

But the black bear was at least 300 meters away on the exposed rocks.

Li Younan quickly moved in that direction.

His bow and arrow lacked such range.

However, after he had moved approximately 100 meters forward, the black bear suddenly seemed to notice Li Younan, abruptly turned around, and glanced at him.

Li Younan saw the beast’s eyes, and in that instant, rather than fear, he felt a surge of excitement, an adrenaline rush.

He hoped the bear would initiate an attack so he could shoot an arrow into its eye.

For this purpose, Li Younan’s left hand holding the bow slowly began to lift, while his right hand instinctively secured the bowstring, ready to strike.

However, at this moment, something happened that shocked him.

The black bear, after sizing him up for two or three seconds, suddenly turned and ran away.

Li Younan’s lips twitched slightly.

Ah, it ran?

No, you’re a ferocious beast, right!

Where’s your beastly dignity?

Stand your ground!

Li Younan frantically complained in his mind, even shouting at the black bear.

Yet, this shout made the bear run even faster, disappearing without a trace in no time.

Leaving Li Younan bewildered as he looked in the direction the bear fled.

This wasn’t in the script.

Amid Li Younan’s frustration, his expression suddenly changed, glancing sideways and raising an eyebrow.

Because just now, he heard a faint sound, a sound that seemed...

After a slight hesitation, Li Younan decided to go and take a look.

He walked about a few dozen meters in the direction where he heard the sound, suddenly hearing the voice again. This time, the sound was very clear, and Li Younan’s eyes lit up with joy. He definitely hadn’t heard wrong.

He quickly turned on the sports camera and said, ”Guys, there’s some movement; maybe my first hunt is about to be successful.”

Yet, at such a moment, he remained even more calm, slowing his steps.

Then, just at that moment, another clear ”baa” sound came from ahead.

This time, Li Younan heard it more clearly; he was certain it was indeed a sheep.

Information about the sheep near Chilco Lake in Canada popped into his mind. The most populous sheep here were bighorn sheep and mountain goats. Judging by the sound and the environment, Li Younan concluded it was a mountain goat.

However, he felt a bit puzzled because the successive cries were almost all from the same spot, and it was unusual for wild animals to stay in one place for a long time in such wilderness.

After passing through a bush, Li Younan suddenly spotted the silhouette of an animal, and the animal clearly discovered him first. As soon as Li Younan saw it, it darted away and disappeared.

Li Younan saw clearly, it was a coyote.

Coyotes are widely distributed across America, and they can be seen from the coldest Alaska to Mexico.

This is a small-sized canid, weighing only about 20 kilograms, but even upon seeing it, Li Younan didn’t think about shooting it.

This small canine poses no threat to him, rather it’s very timid, and its taste is not good, having a strong stench and possibly carrying many pathogens, so it’s not on Li Younan’s menu.

However, seeing a coyote here piqued Li Younan’s curiosity a bit.

Just then, he heard the ”baa” sound again.

Li Younan, holding his bow and arrow, went to the spot where the coyote had disappeared and saw a scene that surprised him a bit.

Below where he stood was a canyon.

The sheep’s cries came from below.

The bottom of the canyon was about twenty meters away, with very steep bare rocks.

Standing here, he could clearly see a sheep in the canyon. It looked like it had fallen down; at least it seemed to have lost its mobility for now.

Then Li Younan took a closer look, and his expression shifted slightly — because not far from the sheep, there was a lamb, which seemed completely unable to move, and he didn’t know if it was already dead.

Seeing this scene, Li Younan nocked an arrow to give the sheep a quick end.

Just then, the mountain goat seemed to notice Li Younan as well, letting out a few sorrowful cries.

Li Younan held an arrow taut in his bow but hesitated, slowly lowering his bow and arrow.

Because, just then, a bold idea popped into his mind.

He looked around and noticed that next to the canyon was a small stream, and further ahead was still a cliff, which meant the canyon bottom could only be reached by climbing down the roughly twenty meters of rock wall.

But after a moment’s hesitation, Li Younan decided to turn his idea into reality.

He turned on the sports camera towards the goat at the bottom of the canyon and said, ”Guys, look what I found! A living goat!”

Then he adjusted the sports camera lens, showing everyone the path down — the steep canyon rock wall, and said with a smile, ”If we want to get beside that goat, we’ll have to go down from here. Next, my camera won’t turn off...”

Recalling Li Younan’s rock climbing skills now.

[Climbing skills Level 2: Climbing Manhattan with bare hands is like a piece of cake.]

To be honest, this canyon rock wall in front of him was not very different from climbing a staircase for Li Younan.

Standing there, he almost instantly mapped out the easiest route; the seemingly frightening canyon rock wall was actually rugged and uneven, with plenty of footholds.

For safety’s sake, however, Li Younan threw stones at several spots to ensure there was no risk of collapsing rocks, then began climbing down with a basket strapped to his back.

In just a few minutes, Li Younan easily reached the bottom of the valley.

He first checked on the dead lamb, frowning — the lamb seemed to have broken its neck, appearing to have been dead for a day, and Li Younan was not interested in such carrion.

Then he focused on the still-crying adult goat.

As expected, it was a female goat.

Li Younan suddenly felt a thrill in his mind. His gaze rested for a moment on the adult goat’s full teats, then looked at the lamb and sighed slightly, ”With such capabilities, you mountain goats fell off the cliff probably because of this lamb, poor thing.”

Having said this, Li Younan turned off the sports camera.

Then, under the female goat’s gaze, he buried the lamb in a dug hole.

Next, he examined the injuries of the female goat — luckily, the goat only had fractures in its front and hind legs. It couldn’t stand up at the moment, but there didn’t seem to be any other serious issues in its body.

Li Younan fetched a handful of water for the female goat to drink.

Capturing a live goat, especially a female one, was indeed a pleasant surprise!
