Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Although he had decided to participate, Li Younan hesitated for a moment when it was time to sign up...

The idea was beautiful, but does signing up really mean you can participate? After all, he always assumed that such shows were just gimmicks, and that the participants were probably pre-determined.

But after a moment, Li Younan still filled in his information.

Then he was required to upload an introductory video.

Li Younan thought about it and didn’t plan to shoot a new one directly. He sent a message to Liu Li. Although he had met Liu Li offline and knew she was a girl, he still casually addressed her as Brother Long: ”Brother Long, I want to sign up for Alone in the Wilderness and need a personal introduction video. Can you help me edit one using previous footage?”

A moment later, Liu Li asked with some curiosity, ”Huh, why do you suddenly want to participate in this show?”

Li Younan casually made up an excuse, ”With the prize money, I can buy a Unimog. The prize money is 1 million US Dollars.”

Li Younan just made up a reason, but when Liu Li saw the message, she was deeply surprised.

She had previously thought that when Li Younan mentioned traveling to Route 318 in a motorhome, he was just talking casually, but unexpectedly, he was genuinely planning it. For a moment, she was somewhat happy, yet a bit ashamed.

She was happy because, after her brother’s reminder, she seriously researched the Unimog motorhome. After thoroughly understanding this massive vehicle, she instantly fell in love with it.

The first impression the Unimog gives is its size, a very large vehicle. It’s not an ordinary off-road vehicle but a truck-like one with super big tires, and its interior space is also very large.

She saw several modified cases where a small motorhome looked like a mobile fortress, feeling secure even during an apocalypse. She thought such a space must feel very safe.

If Li Younan were to drive the Unimog to travel Route 318, maybe... he could take her with him?

Of course, this was just a fleeting, extravagant thought.

She knew she would certainly be a burden to him, making it difficult for Li Younan. Moreover, her brother wouldn’t agree, so it was just a thought.

But even just being a spectator would be nice.

However, the reason for her shame was... her brother couldn’t help Li Younan with this; the vehicle was too expensive.

But she also didn’t realize... why her brother would help Li Younan in the first place.

Upon Li Younan’s request, Liu Li immediately got to work, saying, ”Okay, I will definitely make you a video full of highlights.”

With Liu Li’s help, Li Younan could leave this matter entirely in her hands.

Thinking about it, Liu Li had really saved him a lot of trouble. Suddenly, Li Younan felt an inexplicable touch, so he typed a line and sent it to Liu Li, ”Thank you, Brother Long.”

Liu Li was startled for a moment, feeling a subtle warmth inside, yet she snorted, ”What are you saying? Aren’t we partners? But if you really feel bad about it, could you promise me something in the future?”

Li Younan said, ”Hmm, that’s a very reasonable request. Go ahead, what do you need me to do?”

Liu Li said, ”I haven’t figured it out yet. If you win this championship, I’ll tell you. Relax, I won’t covet your prize money.”

Li Younan had no worries that Brother Long would want his prize money, considering there was a time he begged him to take more shares, yet he refused.

After settling this matter, Li Younan had other plans to take care of in the next period. He needed to visit Inner Mongolia to check on his little pony. If time allowed, he might also look into what the Nadamu Festival was about.

According to the schedule, he had two weeks to do this.

...

However, what Li Younan didn’t know was that this video wasn’t as easy to edit as his previous travel videos. This required some overall creative design, involving certain design thinking.

The reason Liu Li was skilled in editing was that when her brother wanted to start an advertising company, she devotedly explored and studied this path for a long time so that she could help him when needed and not always be a waste hiding in a cave.

She wrestled with this video all day, running several versions but wasn’t satisfied with any of them.

When Liu Yu returned, Liu Li was still somewhat helpless and sought his help.

After listening to Liu Li’s account, Liu Yu was quite surprised. He didn’t expect that after Li Younan said he wouldn’t participate, he would turn around and sign up.

For a moment, he was kind of excited.

Previously, when he asked Li Younan if he had thought of joining Alone in the Wilderness, it was because he somewhat hoped he would participate.

There were two reasons.

The first reason was quite pure, just because he was also a fan of the show.

As a well-known ”speed bump for boys,” most men, when watching Alone in the Wilderness, would stop for a moment and imagine what it would be like to participate with amazing skills and dominate the show.

Unlike others, Liu Yu knows Li Younan well. His knowledge of him stems from the massive amount of raw footage Li Younan shared, showing skills not included in his published videos.

Although he’s never expressed it verbally, deep down, he finds Li Younan terrifying. The more he learns, the deeper this recognition gets.

From initial backflip parkour to showcasing various physical abilities and fishing the last time, he discovered that Li Younan is essentially born for the wilderness.

The bows used by the show weigh just about fifty pounds, but Li Younan can easily use a seventy to eighty-pound American hunting bow. Although he lacks hunting experience, this ability alone is enough to make him stand out.

To ordinary people, these bow weights might not mean much. Simply put, with custom arrowheads, thirty pounds are enough to kill a bear.

Sometimes, Liu Yu even imagines himself as Li Younan, just thinking about participating in the show feels exciting.

Besides, the second reason seems less pure.

Li Younan and he are in a cooperative relationship, though now their interactions are mainly maintained through his sister. Yet, most of Li Younan’s business affairs are actually handled by him.

Truthfully, he knows Li Younan’s commercial value is much greater than what’s displayed now.

Part of the reason is, of course, that Li Younan doesn’t want to appear overly greedy; another reason is, even though his follower count has reached 4 million, it hasn’t yet hit the true pinnacle, which is tens of millions of followers.

At that level, income grows exponentially, and then he could easily do whatever he wants, whether it’s to be himself or to become a significant player in the capital market.

Internally, he has such expectations for Li Younan. The core reason is hard to articulate and is perhaps not so commendable... but the initial motive was still for his sister.

Yet this matter can neither be thought about too deeply nor dared to be pursued further...

In short, he’s looking forward to Li Younan gaining more influence on various levels.

And right now, participating in Alone in the Wilderness is a great opportunity.

Thinking of this, he decided to intervene strongly in this matter.

Seeing the rough teaser made by his sister, he shook his head and said, ”Editing like this won’t do. Leave this to me; I’ll hand it over to our company’s team.”

He glanced at his sister and said, ”It’s not that your work isn’t good, but this time, it requires a commercial mindset.”

...

A few days later, Li Younan saw the final video product, and he was sincerely astonished.

The video was produced with exceptional quality, having a biographical feel, stringing together several of his astonishing clips.

The video begins with a shot of Li Younan hitting the bullseye consistently with arrows.

Then there’s a cinematic transition with a black screen and text: Sharpshooter.

The subsequent scene features a drone long shot of the harsh conditions at Gongga Mountain’s summit, transitioning to him reaching the summit, accompanied by the caption: Brave Climber.

Next, a fish leaps out of the lake’s surface, then the scene switches to Li Younan picking up a basket full of fish, with the text: Top Angler.

This is followed by a rapid montage of scenes including skiing, parkour, woodworking, and more.

After all these clips, a leisurely video shows Li Younan camping at the foot of Gongga Mountain, cooking wild greens with a small pot, saying to the camera, ”To be honest, living like this in the wild is quite pleasant.”

The next screen change introduces the video’s hook with a black screen reading: ”For others, it’s a harsh Wilderness Survival, but for me, it’s just a longer outdoor trip.”

”Alone, in the wilderness, so what?”

Liu Yu was very satisfied with the video, but when Younan watched it, his feelings were a bit complex.

How to say... it was too bold.

Although the video represented his actual skills fairly, this is, after all, a very hardcore outdoor reality show.

Li Younan knew once the video was released, it would undoubtedly stir up a huge discussion, with criticism likely being the majority voice.

The most significant point was... it wasn’t respectful of nature enough.

However, thinking about it, it seemed like a good way to attract the attention of the show’s team. If there were indeed no pre-selected participants, such a confident attitude might make the production team pay more attention to him.

Sure enough, once his video was released, it immediately caused a huge sensation.
