Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

He suspected that there wasn’t a plant in the whole forest that Li Younan didn’t know.

Realizing this, he couldn’t help but feel shocked; this guy was practically a botanist!

At this point, the editor finally became excited.

And Li Younan’s highlights were just beginning.

In the video the next morning, when he woke up, he looked like a leisurely traveler, brewing himself a bowl of ginger tea, which he drank comfortably before attempting to fish by the lake.

Seeing this, the editor briefly thought that this guy wasn’t surviving alone in the wilderness; he seemed more like someone on a lakeside vacation — having breakfast before fishing by the lake. What surprises would he bring next?

A few minutes later, he witnessed the second jaw-dropping highlight.

Shortly afterward, when Li Younan caught a small fish, the editor was only a bit pleased, thinking he wasn’t completely without gains. Then, when Li Younan cheekily said, ”I suggest we release it back,” the editor couldn’t hold it in anymore: this guy was ridiculous!

And what followed was even more outrageous.

Li Younan didn’t release the fish; instead, he used it as bait to catch a huge rainbow trout, which looked to be at least a dozen pounds.

He then swiftly cleaned and prepared the rainbow trout.

And the moment when the fish was caught and he pierced its heart mid-air with his hunting knife was incredibly stunning, marked as a highlight.

The editor’s breathing became heavy, excitedly staring at the video footage.

People who choose this job, truth be told, all have a bit of that wilderness dream in their hearts, but he was just a nearly 250-pound big guy, so he could only watch the contestants fulfill his wilderness dream.

Seeing the superb survival skills demonstrated by Li Younan, he instantly became a fan of Li Younan.

In the subsequent videos, there were hardly any dull moments, continuously creating various highlights.

From this point on, for this editor, the job was no longer a torment but rather a pleasure.

After immersing himself in watching Li Younan’s videos for a while, he suddenly realized something even more astonishing: the quality of Li Younan’s videos was incredibly high.

There was virtually no wasted footage throughout the video.

You could say that every shot could be directly used in a TV show.

In terms of shooting angles, lighting, and framing, it was professional — dynamic footage was tense and exciting, while static scenes often depicted a serene coexistence with nature.

Especially when he was building the shelter, sitting in front of it during sunset, the sunlight turned the sky golden, and a gentle breeze blew by, capturing just one frame could be a photographic work of art.

Comfortable, so comfortable; enjoyable, so enjoyable.

He watched all of Li Younan’s videos immersively, even forgetting his task — categorizing and labeling these videos.

Yet, instead of feeling frustrated, he eagerly watched them again, detailed labeling this time before submitting the material to director Jeff Kay.

...

Jeff Kay had already sent several internal emails urging because only Li Younan’s video had not been submitted.

When Jeff Kay received Li Younan’s video and saw that the material was over two hours long and far larger than other contestants’, he hadn’t even watched it before angrily calling the responsible editor.

”What did you submit to me? Did you send me the raw files from the contestant? This is the result of your work after so long?”

After the scolding, the other person weakly said, ”Oh, director, you misunderstood me. I think you haven’t watched the video I sent you, please take a look, and you’ll understand.”

Jeff Kay, slightly confused, threw down a harsh remark: ”I hope when I watch it, I did misunderstand you; if so, I will apologize, otherwise, you know the consequences!”

Putting down the phone, Jeff Kay opened the video.

About ten minutes later, he was dumbfounded.

Huh?

What kind of contestant is this!

He only watched half the video and already felt a sense of powerlessness.

Yes, not only surprise but also powerlessness!

When he watched other people’s videos, he selected content based on markings to greatly improve work efficiency, but when watching Li Younan’s video, it was almost impossible to do so... because all the content in Li Younan’s submission was usable, nearly all highlights!

This was unprecedented in the program’s history.

They had produced so many episodes of Alone in the Wilderness; if just one episode had a few highlights, it would be enough to support the broadcast.

Even the mighty Roland lacked highlight clips in the show’s early stages; airing an episode required the joint participation of all contestants, even if some unfortunate moments from some unlucky contestant sufficed!

Thus, the video quality of the contestants was a limiting factor in the program’s production.

Sufficient material had to be accumulated to produce an exciting episode.

But Li Younan’s submitted video was absurd.

No, not almost — it was definite, his video alone could be edited into an episode!

However, this went against the program’s intent; this was a survival competition, not a one-man show for Li Younan.

Therefore, the high quality of Li Younan’s video became a source of distress.

Yet he also became excited, curious to see how far a survival expert like Li Younan would progress in the show.

Compared to Li Younan, previously exciting contestants immediately seemed dull, including Pacini, who hunted a goat at the start, and Michael, who caught a porcupine with a trap.

But after a moment, he calmed down.

Although Li Younan demonstrated extremely professional survival skills, his strategy was to begin by building a shelter, which was the most luxurious of all contestants or even ever shown in the program’s history.

Past experiences suggested that those who focused primarily on the shelter at the start often were the first to be eliminated.

Could this guy be a bit too arrogant?

But reflecting on the fishing skills demonstrated by Li Younan, Jeff Kay felt everything was seemingly under his control.

He sighed slightly, feeling it was better to think about how to produce this episode than worry about that.

Honestly.

He never thought he would be troubled someday by a contestant’s video being too high-quality.
