Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Li Younan had a very restful sleep on his first night.

When he woke up early the next morning, he felt refreshed and rejuvenated.

He slightly regretted that waking up in the morning should be accompanied by a sip of hot water to kickstart a brand-new day wonderfully, but in the wilderness right now, he could only make do.

After getting up, the first thing Li Younan did was to start a fire to boil water and make breakfast.

Since there was only one large pot and no water storage container, Li Younan was already considering whether to make a wooden bucket first or to craft some pottery to store water.

Besides possessing woodworking skills, don’t forget he also had a skill he had never used before, which was pottery making.

[lv.1 Pottery Skill: When the hands of a professional snatch up a shiny piece of pottery from the roaring flames, the scalding completeness is wilderness giving respect to your craft.]

This skill was acquired around the same time as his climbing skills, but honestly, there hadn’t been a scenario to use it for quite a long time.

Although he had visited Jingdezhen once, he didn’t know this skill when he went there.

In the wild like this, it’s impossible to fire ceramics as exquisite as in Jingdezhen, but firing some bricks, and tiles, as well as usable water jars and basins, is relatively easy.

Yesterday, Li Younan also observed that there was some good-quality clay nearby, and as long as there is clay, pottery can be crafted.

He had already fetched water yesterday afternoon, so after getting up this morning and boiling it, it could be consumed directly.

After brushing his teeth, Li Younan threw the processed wild ginger from the previous day into the water to make a bowl of ginger tea.

Even though it’s summer, the mornings at Chilco Lake are quite cool, so the big sip of ginger tea made Li Younan feel warm and very comfortable.

Naturally, he did not forget to record a video; after finishing his breakfast of blackberries, he spoke to the camera: ”Guys, today our plan is to go foraging in the morning and continue building our shelter in the afternoon. Don’t worry, today will surely be another fruitful day.”

Li Younan put the remaining half basket of roots and blackberries back into the crevice in the stone wall and then headed to the lakeside with his bow, arrows, and fishing line.

It’s only about a 20-minute walk to the lake from here.

Li Younan was very hopeful of encountering a bear or some other large animal on the way, but unfortunately, this area seemed devoid of large animals. It makes sense since large animals need to eat too, and this place isn’t suitable for them to hunt.

To hunt large animals, he’d probably have to cross the small forest and explore the other side to find any.

Li Younan arrived at the fishing spot he picked out the previous day, set up the camera, and then stood on the steep bank to fish using a rod he made the day before, with worms dug up from nearby as bait.

With Li Younan’s fishing skills, if he believes there will be fish at a spot, there certainly will be fish there, even though it’s wild and there’s no pre-baiting. Thankfully, the fish here have not been disturbed before and will bite at anything, making them easy to catch.

Li Younan kept his gaze fixed on the water and suddenly his expression shifted slightly. With a gentle flick of the wrist, he hooked a fish.

He picked up the fish, his expression playful. It wasn’t a big fish but a small fish the length of a finger.

Li Younan laughed at the camera and said, ”Folks, even though I caught a small fish, its weight is hardly enough to fill the gap between my teeth. So, I suggest we release it back.”

Then he chuckled to himself, ”Just kidding!”

His expression turned serious, ”Friends, have you heard of the saying ’big fish eat little fish’?”

After saying that, Li Younan reattached the small fish to the fishing line, using a unique technique to thread the hook through the fish’s body so that if a big fish takes a bite, the small fish will immediately be hooked.

After doing this, Li Younan cast the fish along with the hook back into the lake.

Next, he demonstrated a top-notch lure operation to his audience. Li Younan placed the fish in the water, manipulating its position with the fishing rod to simulate the swimming movement of a live fish, quickly casting it in and pulling it out while keeping his eyes intently focused on the lake’s surface.

Lure fishing is essentially simulating the swimming posture of a small fish to attract and catch larger predatory fish.

In China, lures typically use realistic-looking fake fish, but no matter how realistic the fake fish are, they can never be more convincing than a real fish, not to mention this one also carries a bloody scent.

Li Younan was highly focused; at this moment, he wasn’t just experiencing the joy of fishing, but engaging in a task directly tied to survival.

In such an intensely focused state, Li Younan instantly entered a flow state, with his brain rapidly processing information about the types of fish that might appear below the water’s surface, their predatory preferences, and the posture of the prey as it swam—all of which quickly turned into commands for the fishing rod to control the small fish.

Suddenly, his eyes focused, and he pulled the rod!

Even though he couldn’t see what was happening underwater, he could distinctly sense the hook piercing the upper jaw of some fish, followed by an astonishing force traveling up the fishing rod.
