Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 171: Chapter 102: Setting Sail: Three Gorges Cruise Adventure!

The cruise facilities generally won’t differ much, but if it’s a five-day trip on the river, the scenery changes along the way.

But at sea, all you see is water stretching out endlessly, which inevitably becomes boring after a while.

Of course, Li Younan has never experienced a cruise at sea, and even on the river, it is his first time; the above is just his imagination.

The seats by the window are naturally the passengers’ first choice. Shortly after he sat down, the sound of clicking came from behind him.

Li Younan curiously turned his head and saw two elderly men and a seemingly quiet young woman sitting by a small table. The clicking sound was coming from the game board in front of them.

However, it was a bit disappointing because the two elderly men were not playing chess but Go.

A game of Go takes a long time.

The two elderly men were enthusiastically playing, but the young woman beside them looked a bit sleepy and gently yawned.

The game of Go seemed to be reaching the end, and the old men exchanged a few teasing words. One said, if I played like this, you’d have no way out. The other responded: if you play like this, then I can do this and that...

The game of Go ended.

Perhaps because Go has a high entry barrier and few people know it, the young woman didn’t quite understand it either. The two elderly men wanted to keep her from getting too bored, so one of them suggested, ”Xiaochun, why don’t we play Gobang! You can join in too.”

The young woman named Xiaochun rubbed her sleepy eyes and smiled, ”Grandmaster Zhou, Gobang is boring. Although I don’t understand Go, I can accompany you to play chess.”

They were using a reversible board, with chess on the other side.

Grandmaster Zhou smiled and said, ”Playing chess, you can’t beat me; no one in the neighborhood has ever beaten me yet.”

The other elderly man jokingly scolded him, ”That’s because people let you win; don’t underestimate my granddaughter. In her younger days at the youth palace, no one dared to say such things.”

Grandmaster Zhou’s interest was piqued upon hearing this: ”Then let’s give it a try.” He said, flipping the board over and setting up the chess pieces.

The young woman prepared herself and started playing chess with the elderly man.

Li Younan stood up with his juice, watching curiously from the side.

The three of them noticed Li Younan but didn’t pay him much attention.

Li Younan watched chess partly because he had acquired chess skills and was more interested in it.

The young woman had some methodical approach to playing chess, clearly having learned before. In contrast, the elderly man didn’t have much strategy, but perhaps due to his experience, he played solidly and took a long time to think.

After the middle game, the elderly man quickly gained the upper hand and won. They played a few consecutive games, all with the same outcome.

The young woman had an unsatisfied look, while the elderly man who had been watching wasn’t pleased, jokingly scolding, ”You, old man, play too harshly, not giving my granddaughter any chance.”

Old Zhou said earnestly, ”That shows I respect your granddaughter, giving the opponent the greatest respect by trying my best. Your granddaughter’s chess level is not low.”

The elderly man didn’t buy it, saying, ”It’s getting late, and I need to rest with my granddaughter; see you tomorrow morning.”

Old Zhou sighed slightly: ”Then you go rest first; I’ll stay here a while longer, watching the night scenery.”

Li Younan was a bit speechless, thinking, is it over just like that?

As the game dispersed, he was about to rest.

But at this moment, Old Zhou suddenly gave him a glance and held eye contact for half a second. Li Younan showed a slight look of bewilderment.

Old Zhou pointed to the seat in front and said, ”Young man, I’ve seen you watching for a while; let’s play two games!”

Li Younan blinked, ”Well... actually... alright then...”

Li Younan sat down.

The elderly man said, ”You go first.”

Li Younan wasn’t shy at all, picked the red piece, and opened with a cannon.

Old Zhou raised an eyebrow and laughed, ”Haha, an opening cannon... horse jumps first...”

Li Younan didn’t plan to hold back and played quickly, almost without hesitation after the old man spent ages thinking over his moves.

Not long after, the old man’s brow furrowed more tightly. After a while, he tapped his piece, admitting defeat.

The two chatted for a bit, roughly asking about Li Younan’s identity, where he’s from, what he does, etc. Li Younan answered them all.

After getting acquainted, they also asked Li Younan who taught him chess. Li Younan casually replied that he studied chess sheets.

But naturally, not quite convinced, the elderly man said he was careless earlier and wanted Li Younan to play another game.

Li Younan saw it was getting late and smiled, ”Tomorrow then; it’s a bit too late today.”

Seeing this, the elderly man had to agree, ”Alright then, played for a long time tonight, the condition is not good.”

The two left an agreement to battle again tomorrow.
