Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 152: Chapter 98: Li Younan’s Spicy Review: Just Find a Job! [6,400 Words!]

At four in the afternoon, Li Younan started the Land Cruiser, carrying Lu Xiaolan and Xu Liya, and departed from Chengdu, getting onto the Chengdu-Chongqing expressway.

The sky was still bright, but the sunlight had already taken on a lazy hue.

In the back seat, the two girls were initially excitedly chatting about their new university life, but after driving for a while, their voices gradually faded.

Xiaolan leaned against the seat and closed her eyes, while Xu Liya, wearing earphones, quietly watched the hills and villages sweeping by outside the window.

After about two hours, Xiaolan woke up, rubbed her eyes, and asked, ”Brother, where are we staying tonight?”

”No rush,” Li Younan said, holding the steering wheel steadily and looking at the road ahead gilded with a layer of gold by the sunset, ”we’ll stop wherever we reach. We’ll find a decent small town or big village, have dinner, and easily get you both to Chongqing tomorrow.”

Xu Liya also took off her earphones, showing some concern, ”Leaving so late and driving at night to find a place, won’t that be too tiring?”

”Not tiring at all.” Li Younan smiled, ”We’re not in a hurry, we’ll arrive steadily by tomorrow morning.”

Past six o’clock, the sun sank lower, casting an orange-red light over the rice fields by the roadside, somewhat dazzling. Clouds in the sky were also tinged with shades of red.

Li Younan glanced at the road sign ahead that indicated ”Longchang,” the distance seemed suitable, and the name sounded pleasant.

”Let’s stop here.” He said, turning the indicator light on as the car slid off the highway exit.

The town of Longchang lit up in the twilight.

Li Younan found a neat and tidy-looking inn and parked the car.

Xiaolan and Xu Liya got out of the car, stretched, and curiously observed this unfamiliar small town at dusk.

Conveniently, there was a small noodle shop next to the inn, its doorway brighter than the surroundings, steam rising from the stove.

”Let’s go, time for dinner.” Li Younan beckoned to them.

Each of them had a bowl of beef noodles, and Li Younan instructed the owner to add extra spice to everyone’s bowl except his own.

When the noodles were served, the red oil glistened, and green onions and cilantro were sprinkled on top.

Li Younan blew on his noodles to cool them; his bowl still had a bit of chili. He wasn’t completely unable to eat spicy food, just that his taste wasn’t as strong for it.

Moreover, he realized that he had to try to eat spicy food; otherwise, he would often not be able to share meals with others.

Xiaolan ate with sweat beading on her nose, exclaiming how enjoyable it was, and went to add another spoonful of chili oil.

Xu Liya ate more delicately, taking small bites, her cheeks flushing from the spices, but she smiled contently as she pursed her lips.

”Brother Younan, you drive really smoothly,” Xu Liya said, wiping her mouth, ”By the way, did you record any videos with your walkie-talkie today?”

”No, I didn’t.” Li Younan continued eating, ”Hehe, not everything needs to be recorded on video, besides, it’s a bit of a niche hobby.”

On one hand, Li Younan felt that not all content was suitable for filming, and on the other, showcasing too many skills on video might not be a good thing.

He had already demonstrated parkour, cooking, carpentry, plumbing, and even carving skills on video, which, while impressive, wasn’t too far-fetched for a young person.

But as the skills list grew, he realized people’s energy was limited—how could one possibly learn so many things?

The average person might not leap to thoughts of systems or superpowers, but showing off too much could lead to unnecessary trouble; it needed to be plausible within reality.

Li Younan didn’t deliberately hide this, but overall, it was important to manage the balance.

Unintentionally startling those around him and showcasing them in videos were very different.

After dinner, they returned to the inn, and darkness had completely fallen. The room was simple and clean, the air conditioning cooled it, dispersing the heat of the day.

Xiaolan and Xu Liya shared one room, while Li Younan stayed in the adjacent room.

After washing up, he lay down and opened the window a crack, hearing occasionally the sound of motorcycles passing below, mixed with distant, muffled television sounds and a few dog barks.

It wasn’t noisy, contrasting to give the town’s night a unique tranquility.

Li Younan checked his phone, it was just past eight thirty, but sleepiness had already come over him.

From next door, faint laughter and conversation could be heard from the two girls, likely still dreaming about their upcoming university life.

He vaguely heard a few playful quips between them, probably jokingly, such as ”I consider you a friend, and you have plans to become my sister-in-law...” After the giggles, again, ”It’s not as exaggerated as you say, your cousin’s the kind of guy... blah blah blah...”

Li Younan chuckled silently, closed his eyes, listening to the gentle voices mixed with the whispers of an early autumn night and a few cricket calls, feeling a deep peace inside.

Things for tomorrow, let tomorrow’s sunrise handle them.

...

Chongqing is a very special place, and it also has two must-visit spots.

Now, Li Younan no longer had a strong desire for checking in places, his mentality naturally shifted, no longer urgently wanting to check in, but thinking ”this place is fun, and when I visit, I might as well check in as if unlocking a blind box.”

The enrollment times for the two universities intermix, lasting two days. From Chengdu, you first pass Chongqing University. So, Li Younan planned to first drop Lu Xiaolan off for registration, while Xu Liya would have to wait a little.

To this, Xu Liya certainly had no objections, and she was also very eager to see what Lu Xiaolan’s university was like, having agreed to follow along after Lu Xiaolan registered to check out her own Southwest University.

The two girls in the back seat seemed well-rested and started chatting again, discussing where to report upon arriving at the school, and what their dorms would be like.
