Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 165: Chapter 101: Check-In Complete, Hot Pot Restaurant Opens!

Of course, Li Younan never intended to achieve any extraordinary feats by playing Chinese chess.

To him, chess was merely a brain game.

Being able to reach such a high level in this game felt pretty good to him.

He amusingly thought that maybe the next time he saw the two old men playing chess at the village entrance, he could step in and bully them a bit.

...

The day before the official opening.

Li Younan posted the video of the renovated hot pot restaurant onto his homepage.

Everyone was still having fun with the memes: ”Yo yo yo, the apprentice’s hot pot shop is opening!”

Li Younan simply laughed it off.

That’s great.

The video of him stir-frying hot pot base that he posted earlier also gained a lot of attention.

In just a few days, the likes had shot up to tens of thousands.

Especially since the nearby foot traffic was quite high, many people expressed their intention to come back once it officially opened and make sure to check in.

Seeing the enthusiasm online, Chen Kunjie became even more excited.

He passionately gave a motivational speech to his three employees—a dishwashing aunty and two young waitress girls.

”Our hot pot restaurant is opening tomorrow. Both Boss Li and I are people with dreams, making money and such can take a back seat.”

”The main thing is for us to fulfill our dream of opening a truly delicious hot pot restaurant.”

”Both Li Younan and I hope you can truly think of this hot pot restaurant as your home. I’m announcing that besides your wages, you can also earn a 1% commission on the daily turnover.”

The two young waitresses were a bit confused, not having a clear grasp of what 1% meant.

Chen Kunjie then smiled and said, ”Let me do the math for you. We have a total of 8 tables, each one seating 8 people. Considering table turnover, let’s estimate serving 15 tables a day.”

”Assuming a minimum of 60 yuan per guest, the daily sales would be 6,000 yuan. Not taking into account utilities and other miscellaneous costs, just based on turnover, 1% is 60 yuan! What does that mean? Even with a conservative estimate, you can earn an additional one or two thousand on top of your basic salary each month.”

Li Younan and Chen Kunjie offered the two waitresses a salary of 3,500 yuan per month. With commissions, it’s easy for them to earn over 6,000 yuan per month.

This is already very high for a waitress position.

The two young waitresses originally had no concept of the 1%, but after Chen Kunjie’s straightforward explanation, both were momentarily stunned.

They had neither completed technical school nor had they entered the workforce early, having worked in factories and as waitresses elsewhere, with a good understanding of the wages in the catering industry.

They couldn’t help but exchange glances, seeing disbelief in each other’s eyes, but more so excitement. The basic salary of 3,500 yuan was already high, and now there’s also commission.

Seeing their expressions, Li Younan wore a satisfied smile.

He and Chen Kunjie had reached the same conclusion without discussing.

Recently, Pang Donglai had become popular, with supermarkets across the region claiming to learn from Pang Donglai, but most supermarkets couldn’t grasp the essence.

Simply demanding employees to raise standards and optimize processes is of no use.

The real reason for Pang Donglai’s success is the treatment of its employees.

If you pay employees 3,000 yuan, they will only do 3,000 yuan worth of work, with the company’s fate not concerning them; if it doesn’t work out, they’ll just find another job.

But if you pay employees a salary of 6,000 yuan, the company’s status changes, and the employees will work hard to do their best.

A good job is hard to come by, and employees cherish it, so service standards naturally improve.

This experience isn’t only useful in supermarkets but can be applied to various industries with the same basic underlying logic.

Next, Li Younan continued, ”Now, we are still in the trial operation stage, and you are all on probation as well. In the future, if our business improves, we will also provide five types of insurance. If we can acquire the shop next door, we may even hire more people and try to accommodate everyone’s rest time.”

After speaking, Li Younan and Chen Kunjie exchanged a glance and couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

The reason for the laughter...

Honestly, Li Younan knew for sure that both he and Chen Kunjie were rookies in business.

Neither of them knew if this wage model was reliable, with part of the decision based on enthusiasm and partly on sentiment.

After a rough calculation, with the current wage model, they would undoubtedly make much less money, but it was still plentiful.

Even assuming a monthly sales of 200,000 yuan, while a typical hot pot shop’s net profit margin is between 20-30%, their model’s net profit might only be about 15%.

After a month, they might only earn about 10,000 yuan each.

Chen Kunjie, acting as both head chef and manager, would receive a salary, resulting in his income being slightly higher, with this part counted as a cost, and he would receive over 20,000, while Li Younan, doing nothing impactful, would get around 10,000.

However, this is a conservative estimate, and once they are truly running the business, the sales might be higher.

Encouraged by Chen Kunjie’s motivation, everyone in the shop was full of hope for the future.

...

In the afternoon, Li Younan arranged to return the rented woodworking equipment.

After completing the handover, he visited Chongqing University to see his cousin.

At this time, his cousin had already officially participated in the student military training, and not finding her when he arrived, he wandered around out of boredom.
