Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 166: Chapter 101: Check-in Complete, Hot Pot Restaurant Grand Opening!

Compared to his alma mater, Chongqing University is somewhat inferior in both rankings and facilities.

However, the university atmosphere is quite similar. Walking around here, Li Younan couldn’t help but recall his own college days, feeling rather nostalgic.

Upon returning to the hotpot restaurant, Li Younan found two new people inside.

One was a young man who bore a vague resemblance to Chen Kunjie, a bit chubbier and older, with an honest demeanor.

The other was an aunt, and without guessing, Li Younan was certain this was Chen Kunjie’s mom, and the young man was his brother.

Chen Kunjie’s mom had great authority in their household.

According to Chen Kunjie, she was quite capable. It was her determination that got the hotpot restaurant up and running, despite opposition.

Chen Kunjie’s dad often played more of a supportive role behind the scenes.

Capable women often have sharp tempers. If they are both gentle and capable, chances are they don’t look very pretty.

But Chen Kunjie’s mom had good features, a woman who was both attractive and capable.

As soon as Li Younan arrived, he heard Chen Kunjie’s mom laughing with slight disdain in authentic Chongqing dialect, ”Wow, the decor is fancy.”

Although she mentioned the decoration was pretty, it didn’t sound much like praise, rather it gave an impression of being flashy and of little use.

However, Chen Kunjie didn’t talk back to his mom, instead, he replied with a cheeky grin, ”When the taste isn’t good enough, you make up for it with decor, there’s still some potential in it.”

Chen Kunjie’s mom snorted, ”I told you to just stay and work well back home, but you insisted on running off and wasting so much money. But I’ve given you enough chances! You want to start a business? I’ve given you the opportunity.”

Chen Kunjie quickly nodded, ”You have, you have. What brings you here today?”

”Nothing much, just came to take a look around.”

Chen Kunjie’s mom looked around, glancing here and there, then casually knocked on a table before speaking slowly and seriously, ”But, even though you argued with me before, I still hope you can make this business work.”

She pointed to the refurbished store, ”Your decoration is unique, but the location isn’t ideal. To succeed, the taste and value must be right. Where are you buying your hotpot ingredients from?”

Chen Kunjie proudly announced, ”Buy? I make them myself!”

Before Chen Kunjie’s mom could say anything, his seemingly obedient brother couldn’t help but laugh, ”With your level, you’re making hotpot ingredients?”

When it came to his brother, Chen Kunjie wasn’t as polite, calmly retorting, ”Dad can say that, since he’s the one who makes the hotpot ingredients at home. But you, can’t even balance the books...”

Li Younan found it amusing.

Chen Kunjie had mentioned before that his brother didn’t get involved in the kitchen; at the hotpot restaurant, he was mainly responsible for managing the floor and accounting.

Of course, saying he can’t balance the books was a bit of an exaggeration.

Their own hotpot restaurant was quite large, spanning two floors, so occasional small mistakes were understandable.

His brother just smiled carefreely, ”Try not to burn yourself when you’re making their hotpot base.”

They chatted for a while before noticing Li Younan.

Chen Kunjie quickly went over to introduce everyone.

Li Younan politely greeted them and said, ”Auntie, Brother Chen, I’m currently Chen Kunjie’s business partner. We’re having our grand opening tomorrow, and we’d love for you to come and support us. We’re hosting an event where we’ll set up a big pot at the entrance and make hotpot base live, streaming the whole process. The streaming will be in the afternoon, and once the base is done, we’ll officially open.”

This livestream event had been planned for some time.

Li Younan was already quite familiar with hosting livestreams, having prepared the fan group in advance.

Since this is his own business, he’s naturally more eager to promote it compared to other brands.

Chen Kunjie’s mom responded humorously, ”You young people always want to do these flashy things. Livestream, huh? I’ve even hired internet celebrities to help promote for us, and to be honest, it wasn’t very effective, let alone you guys doing your own thing. Who’s going to watch?”

Li Younan and Chen Kunjie, sharing an understanding, chose not to explain. Chen Kunjie simply laughed, ”It’s all about the flow these days, so we just go with the trend.”

Chen Kunjie’s mom sighed, ”There’s no convincing you; you’ll only understand after a few setbacks. But I’m done trying to persuade you. We’ll all come by tomorrow afternoon to help out if you need us.”

To this, Chen Kunjie cheekily replied, ”Great, we’re just short a couple of prep cooks, so you three can help with that.”

Chen Kunjie’s brother’s face changed instantly, ”Who’s going to prep for you?”

Chen Kunjie nonchalantly said, ”Then what are you going to do? Just come and freeload? No chopsticks for you!”

”I can manage the accounts for you.”

”As if I need you to do that!”

Li Younan watched the siblings bicker with great interest.

Their mom rebuked, ”Stop bickering; you’re good at finding free labor.”

Chen Kunjie mischievously replied, ”You offered yourself.”

Despite her words suggesting she was fed up with Chen Kunjie, Li Younan could feel that their family actually had a harmonious relationship.
