Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 154: Chapter 98: Li Younan’s Spicy Review: Just Find a Job!

Li Younan laughed heartily on the side.

With Li Younan, a proper graduate from a reputable university, helping the two get familiar with the school, Lu Xiaolan didn’t face any trouble with the registration process, even without local seniors guiding them.

After collecting their supplies, Li Younan carried the freshly issued bedding, while Lu Xiaolan and Xu Liya each grabbed some luggage and headed to the dormitory.

At this time, there were already two or three girls in the dormitory.

One of the girls was struggling with the newly installed internet cable, as her router couldn’t connect to the network.

After helping Lu Xiaolan carry her luggage to the dorm room, Li Younan lent a hand and resolved the issue for that girl.

For him, it was just a simple task.

The girl was very grateful to Li Younan, and after learning that he was Lu Xiaolan’s brother, she quickly started chatting with Xiaolan.

It was quite a nice start.

Like him back then, Xiaolan had never left the county before graduating high school. Now, studying across provinces, she needed a period of adjustment.

Having a friend to talk to at the beginning of this process would be very beneficial.

At that time, there were two other roommates in the dorm. Li Younan also chatted briefly with them and got a general understanding of the personalities of these three girls.

Overall, they seemed to be ordinary, honest girls from average families — so ordinary that you couldn’t pick them out from a crowd.

Of course, apart from being a bit chatty, Lu Xiaolan was much the same.

Just typical college students.

The girl struggling with the router was petite and seemed to be the most outgoing in the dorm.

The other two included a chubby girl with a somewhat soft-spoken and cute demeanor, and another with glasses who didn’t talk much — her personality was still hard for Li Younan to grasp.

At least for now, it seemed his cousin wouldn’t have much trouble here, which was quite good.

Interestingly, none of the girls in this dorm wore makeup, making Lu Xiaolan the only one acquainted with it.

She had even put on light makeup today when they came over.

The once unpolished country girl had surprisingly become the most refined girl in the dorm.

After completing the registration, the next step was to go to Xu Liya’s school and help her with some procedures.

Originally, Li Younan had planned to take them both to his friend’s place for hot pot after everything was settled.

However, although that was the plan, a small unexpected change occurred after finishing up at Xu Liya’s school.

That evening, Xu Liya and her classmates had a mandatory class meeting that they couldn’t skip.

As a result, only Lu Xiaolan would be going for hot pot with Li Younan.

...

Even though Li Younan was a good driver, he thought it best not to try driving in Chongqing as an outsider, based on what he read online.

They say that in Chongqing, even with a navigation map, it’s hard to understand.

Li Younan didn’t know if this was an exaggeration, but regardless of any changes, he wasn’t willing to take the risk. Making a wrong turn on the way to his friend’s place would be a hassle.

So, Li Younan parked his car at the hotel and took a cab with Lu Xiaolan to visit his friend in the Nan’an District.

When they arrived at the address given by his friend, Lu Xiaolan gazed dumbfounded at Li Younan, ”Cousin, is this really your friend’s hot pot place?”

Li Younan frowned slightly and irritably pulled out his phone, typing on WeChat, ”Are you sure the address you gave me is correct?”

At that moment, they were standing at the entrance of an old building with the correct house number. To the left, there was a Yu Fuqiao massage and foot spa, and to the right, a karaoke bar with two doors sandwiched between an old and small storefront, which had no lights or signboard.

Li Younan doubted for a moment if his friend was playing a prank on him.

Unexpectedly, the reply came quickly, ”Are you here already? Hold on a second.”

Shortly after, the door creaked open, and a young man around the same age as Li Younan peeked his head out from behind it.

Upon seeing Li Younan, his eyes lit up with delight, ”Come in, come in!”

Li Younan had a puzzled expression but didn’t rush in, asking, ”Why do you have the door shut so tight? Up to something shady? Besides, isn’t your hot pot place supposed to be big? Is this what you call big?”

The young man chuckled, ”It’s a long story. Come in first; I’ll explain everything slowly. Haven’t eaten yet, right? I’ve got everything ready.”

Lu Xiaolan hesitated for a moment, and her expression seemed to write the words ”Is your friend reliable” all over her face.

Li Younan smiled reassuringly and followed the young man inside.

As soon as they stepped in, the intense aroma of hot pot greeted them.

Although Li Younan wasn’t a fan of spicy food, his training as a professional chef allowed him to distinguish the scents of different hot pot base ingredients.

He arched an eyebrow slightly but stayed silent.

Upon entering, he understood why the doors were shut and there was no signage.

The place was tiny, with only seven or eight tables, likely taken over from some previous owner who couldn’t sustain their business.

The furniture wasn’t new, some areas clearly had traces of patch-up work, and it seemed like it had recently undergone some renovations.

There was no one else in the shop, and the aroma of hot pot wafted from the kitchen.

With a quirk to his expression, Li Younan casually pulled out a chair and sat down.

Seeing this, Lu Xiaolan obediently took a seat next to him.
