Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 155: Chapter 98: Li Younan’s Spicy Review: Go Find a Job!

Li Younan said, ”Explain yourself.”

The young man chuckled, ”I told you it’s a long story.”

Li Younan said irritably, ”Then make it short.”

The young man poured a cup of tea for Li Younan and Lu Xiaolan, and said, ”Alright, I’ll make it short then.”

He slowly raised his head, speaking in a casual tone, ”I had a falling out with my family, they kicked me out, so now I’ve opened my own hot pot restaurant.”

Li Younan blinked and said nothing, taking a gentle sip of tea.

...

The young man’s name was Chen Kunjie.

When Li Younan first started university, just like most freshmen, he was full of curiosity and wanted to try everything, making him the favorite target of those ”old hands” in the clubs.

Back then, Li Younan and Chen Kunjie joined a ridiculous club called ”Future Leaders Elite Association.”

This club claimed to ”cultivate leadership qualities” and ”connect with high-quality resources,” but most of the activities were empty ”success seminars,” or they would gather everyone for some ”simulated negotiations.”

The so-called ”elite resources” were just a few seniors not too familiar from the president’s social circle.

After a few weeks in this oddball club and a few pointless gatherings,

the last activity was supposed to be attending a seminar by an elite figure. They thought they were going to make valuable connections, but the so-called elite was fake, and they were just used as a prop to fool another group of clueless college students.

It ended with them being exposed on site, turning the scene into chaos, the club organizers disappeared without a trace, leaving only a hat spinning on the ground, and Li Younan and Chen Kunjie were left standing awkwardly.

Later, Chen Kunjie picked up the hat on the ground and asked Li Younan, ”Buddy, did you get anything out of this?”

Li Younan felt a bit emotional too. After all, being new to college and having little experience, it was normal. You live and learn, right?

He sighed and said, ”If nothing else, at least I learned one thing: even in a prestigious school, there are deceptive seniors and clubs.”

Chen Kunjie shook his head and said, ”That’s not a gain; that’s a lesson.”

Li Younan paused, ”Huh?”

Then, Chen Kunjie pointed to the hat in his hand, ”It’s Supreme, probably genuine.”

He pointed to a forgotten mini speaker on the lectern, ”That thing is worth a hundred bucks or so.”

While saying this, he leisurely walked over, placed the mini speaker on the hat, ”This, plus this, is what you call a gain!”

Li Younan was dumbfounded.

That’s just the kind of person Chen Kunjie was. Li Younan had been friends with him for four years and would occasionally be baffled by his eccentric way of thinking.

Chen Kunjie was from Chongqing, and according to him, his family owned a traditional hot pot restaurant.

While ”traditional” might be an exaggeration, it was indeed an old hot pot restaurant operating since the reform and opening-up period.

After graduation, this guy went back to Chongqing.

Li Younan contacted him a few times, but after a while, they gradually lost touch.

The last time they chatted was the previous time.

Chen Kunjie said he had learned to make his family’s hot pot base and would have Li Younan try it next time.

Li Younan replied at the time, ”Better not, I can’t handle the spice.”

And Chen Kunjie responded, ”Who said you’d eat it? You just need to look and sniff at it.”

Li Younan swore that if he had been there, he would have punched him.

Unexpectedly, when they met again, this guy was so down and out.

Li Younan put down his cup and intended to comfort him by saying, ”Even though you’re starting from scratch...”

But before he could finish, Chen Kunjie proudly said, ”Damn it, I’m finally free, not having to put up with my mom’s cooking anymore. Her hot pot isn’t tasty at all; she doesn’t get what young people like to eat.”

Li Younan’s words got stuck in his throat, and he took another sip of tea.

Then, Chen Kunjie went to the back to bring out the hot pot base and pushed out the prepared dishes on a cart.

Lu Xiaolan licked her lips.

With the fire burning, the broth quickly boiled.

”Give it a try,”

Chen Kunjie said.

Li Younan hesitated for a moment, but still picked a piece of tripe and dipped it in the pot.

After about ten to twenty seconds, Chen Kunjie said, ”It’s ready, any longer and it’ll become tough.”

Li Younan didn’t say a word, continued cooking for a few more seconds before taking it out, dipped it in the sauce, blew on it several times, and then tasted it.

After a long while, he slowly put down his chopsticks.

Chen Kunjie looked at Li Younan with anticipation.

Li Younan sighed and sincerely said, ”Find a job.”

Chen Kunjie blinked, then blinked again.

Li Younan remained silent.

Chen Kunjie finally grew a bit anxious, ”Where’s the twist?”

Li Younan still didn’t speak, his expression was extraordinarily serious.
