Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 882: Chapter 643: The Yang Family’s Descendants Must Not Indulge in Lust (Part 2)

Although little Qi’er caused some trouble, she became the best whetstone for these fledglings.

Only with comparison can there be disparity. It is precisely because little Qi’er caused chaos that these fledglings grew closer to Yu Qingyi, so Yu Qingyi let little Qi’er play with these fledglings and even advised her on taming methods.

”Daughter-in-law pays respects to mother!”

”Granddaughter-in-law greets grandmother!”

Ms. Liang and Ms. Yu came together. Yu Qingyi looked at them, noticing Ms. Yu’s red-rimmed eyes and asked in surprise: ”What’s wrong? You even cried!”

Ms. Yu was a bit embarrassed, lowering her head, feeling shy to speak.

Ms. Liang smiled slightly and then sat beside Yu Qingyi, ”Wasn’t it Chengyou who caused it!”

”What happened to Chengyou?” Yu Qingyi had just spoken when she immediately understood and couldn’t help laughing.

”Your grandfather is in the study room. Qingxia, go invite the master out!”

What do the daughters-in-law and granddaughters-in-law of the Yang family most favor about the Yang family?

Naturally, it is the Yang family’s rule of ’only able to take concubines if childless by thirty.’

This family rule spared the Yang family’s back courtyard from many nonsensical troubles and allowed the daughters-in-law and granddaughters-in-law of the Yang family to live their lives steadily.

Soon, Yang Zhenshan emerged from the study room and, listening to Yu Qingyi’s explanation, Yang Zhenshan didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.

Although establishing a dynasty isn’t a major affair for the Yang family, yet none of them seemed concerned about the power and wealth of a dynasty, only caring about some bizarre matters.

”Is that it?”

”Yes!” Ms. Yu lowered her head, not daring to look at Yang Zhenshan.

Perhaps she too thought it was somewhat thoughtless to bother Yang Zhenshan over this.

Yang Zhenshan stroked his beard in thought; indeed, this matter wasn’t of significant importance.

Back then, he set the rule that Yang family men cannot take concubines because he disliked the sinister struggles at home.

Such struggles were too common in Da Rong.

Those wealthy families in Da Rong, few had a peaceful back courtyard, and even life-and-death incidents were not uncommon.

Over the years, the Yang family had not experienced such distressing matters, and the rule of not taking concubines was undoubtedly a great contributor.

Of course, there were other reasons.

The main reason was that the Yang family had excellent medical conditions and high fertility rates.

Issues like difficult childbirths and infant mortality didn’t occur in the Yang family.

This was mainly thanks to the Spiritual Spring Water.

The physique of pregnant women was healthy, allowing them to endure despite encountering issues during childbirth.

Meanwhile, infants nurtured by the Spiritual Spring Water wouldn’t suffer mortality even if plagued by minor ailments.

With Spiritual Spring Water enhancing their physique, women faced minimal risks in childbirth, and since the children could grow up, the daughters-in-law and granddaughters-in-law of the Yang family could peacefully dedicate themselves to their husbands and children.

As for whether to take more concubines and have more children upon establishing a dynasty?

About this?

Yang Zhenshan pondered for a while and said: ”Just tell Chengyou that unless he changes his surname, he must adhere to our Yang family’s rules!”

”Not just him, but his descendants thereafter as well!”

Desire is a sharp blade, beauty is a bone-shaving knife.

Moreover, indulging in beauty not only affects state affairs but also impacts personal cultivation.

For royal succession, as long as heirs are secure, there’s no need to bear many sons.

Even if there were unforeseen accidents, the Yang family has so many descendants that whether brothers pass the throne on to each other or adopt an heir, it wouldn’t be an issue in the Yang family.

The essence of the Yang family is the Yang family itself, not some dynasty.

Now, as the patriarch of the Yang family, Yang Zhenshan, to put it bluntly, even if one or two were to die due to unforeseen incidents, he probably wouldn’t be too heartbroken.

When the Yang family had few people, he had deep affection for each member.

But now, he has over ten great-grandsons and great-granddaughters; one can’t really expect him to have profound affection for every single great-grandchild.

The love for the children is there, but to say the feelings are deep, would indeed put Yang Zhenshan in a difficult position.

To Yang Zhenshan, the newly established dynasty is merely an enterprise of the Yang family, akin to the Yang family’s shops outside.

Only because this enterprise is slightly larger, it requires stable means of management.

Royal succession naturally has its rules and advantages.

Assigning a descendant to inherit the throne is merely to avoid future troubles and disputes.

And the family rules are the foundation of internal stability, which Yang Zhenshan will not readily alter.

Upon hearing Yang Zhenshan’s words, Ms. Yu was immensely pleased, ”Thank you, grandfather, for your kindness!”

Yang Zhenshan nodded. Ms. Liang laughed and said: ”Now you can rest assured!”

”Yes!” Ms. Yu, feeling shy, wanted to find a hole to dive into.

Yu Qingyi was amused by her demeanor.

...

The attack on the Divine Wood Seven Islands was as smooth as intended; twenty-five thousand Tenglong Guards along with two thousand Xingyue Navy divided into seven routes decisively conquered the Divine Wood Seven Islands with virtually negligible resistance.

Attacking islands is actually much easier than besieging territories on land, especially after the elite forces of the Divine Wood Sect were decimated, making the island assaults effortless.

Each island was a swift decisive victory, hardly amounting to battles; as the army arrived, the Divine Wood Sect followers on the islands either surrendered on the spot or fled in panic.

On the islands, the terrain is simple, the area limited, and there’s no strategic depth to speak of; the combat wouldn’t drag on for long.
