Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 854: Chapter 626: You’ve Been Living Too Comfortably—You’ve Forgotten How to Fight!

The old man opened the bamboo tube and took out the slip of paper inside.

”Huh! The Taro Dynasty actually deployed the giant whale navy?”

Upon seeing the contents of the paper, the old man couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise.

”Headed north? They’re actually moving in the same direction as us!” the old man mused.

The giant whale navy is the elite navy of the Taro Dynasty, and it hasn’t embarked on a long voyage for many years. Now that it suddenly set sail, it puzzled the old man a bit.

”Yuan Ke, what do you think their target is? Surely, they’re not here to capture this old man, are they?” the old man asked.

The burly man standing beside him, who was Yuan Ke, twitched the corner of his mouth slightly and said, ”Master, even if they wanted to catch you, they wouldn’t need to deploy the giant whale navy!”

The old man glared at him, ”Are you saying that I am not worth deploying the giant whale navy for?”

”No, disciple means that deploying the giant whale navy would be useless. Before you, Master, the giant whale navy is just a bunch of small fry, not worth mentioning at all!” Yuan Ke put on a foolish grin, skillfully flattering him.

The old man immediately beamed with pleasure, ”You’re right, the so-called giant whale navy, is nothing more than a group of small fry, not worth considering before me!”

”But what is their target?”

”If it’s not for this old man, what else is there that’s worth the Taro Dynasty deploying the giant whale navy?”

”Could it be that old Xiang Anxu is on the giant whale navy’s ship?”

Yuan Ke thought for a moment and said, ”They might be after Star Moon Island!”

”Star Moon Island?” the old man asked in surprise, ”Have you received other news?”

Yuan Ke explained, ”Disciple heard earlier that the Taro court has always wanted to expand the northern maritime trade, and the most prosperous force in northern maritime trade is Star Moon Island!”

”If they want to develop the northern maritime trade, they certainly can’t bypass Star Moon Island!”

The old man nodded, ”You’re right, it should be that old Xiang Anxu wanting to subdue Star Moon Island!”

”How strong is Star Moon Island?”

Yuan Ke shook his head slightly, ”Not very clear, but Star Moon Island’s Yang family is quite close to Earth Fire Island’s Zhu family, so their strength should be similar to that of Earth Fire Island, even if it’s weaker, it shouldn’t be by much. Plus, it’s said that Star Moon Island’s Yang family has the support of Da Rong behind them!”

The Yang family of Star Moon Island is well-known in Da Rong’s East South Sea Domain and South Sea Domain, but in the Ten Thousand Miles Sea Domain, their reputation isn’t yet very prominent.

The Ten Thousand Miles Sea Domain is vast, and the activities of the Yang family trading fleet only cover the northwest part of the Ten Thousand Miles Sea Domain.

Only powers near Star Moon Island have a better understanding of it, while those further away have only surface-level knowledge.

”So, Star Moon Island’s strength isn’t weak!” the old man said.

The Zhu family of Earth Fire Island is much more famous in the Ten Thousand Miles Sea Domain than the Yang family of Star Moon Island. In the old man’s mind, the Zhu family’s strength is considerable, and for the Yang family of Star Moon Island to be compared to the Zhu family means the Yang family’s strength isn’t weak.

”Not necessarily, maybe it’s because of Da Rong’s support behind Star Moon Island!” Yuan Ke said.

The old man shook his head, ”Da Rong, the old Da Rong could have been feared a bit, but now it’s just an aging water dragon, long unable to venture into the sea!”

Among the many powers in the western part of the Ten Thousand Miles Sea Domain, Da Rong is a colossus, but not all powers fear this giant.

For instance, the Taro Dynasty probably won’t risk causing trouble in Da Rong, but they aren’t afraid of Da Rong at sea.

The same goes for the Zhang Dynasty.

The old man before them is Zhang Juhai, a strong figure of the Zhang Dynasty, and the Zhang Dynasty and the Taro Dynasty have always been old rivals, with the closest distance between their territories being less than thirty miles.

To seize territory and maritime trade rights, bitter wars often break out between these two dynasties.

The Zhang Dynasty’s position is roughly due south of Star Moon Island, while the Taro Dynasty is slightly to the east, located in the southeast of Star Moon Island.

The reason why Star Moon Island hasn’t developed its southern maritime trade is due to the frequent wars between these two, making that sea area almost a forbidden zone for sea merchants.

No sea merchant is willing to risk being caught in the war’s crossfire to trade there, losing their entire capital would be the least of their worries; a single misstep could cost them their life.

”Do you think we should go to Star Moon Island to lend a hand! Since the Taro Dynasty wants to attack Star Moon Island, should we try to win over Star Moon Island!”

”The enemy of my enemy is my friend!”

”Haha, let’s go and make friends with Star Moon Island!”

”I, as a teacher, love making friends!”

Zhang Juhai laughed heartily.

As long as it’s something that can give the Taro Dynasty trouble, he’s willing to get involved.

To him, the greatest joy in life is giving the Taro Dynasty trouble, making things difficult for that old Xiang Anxu.

...

Earth Fire Island, inside the great city of the Zhu family.

The Zhu family’s great city is just that, a city, inhabited entirely by the descendants of the Zhu family. That a family needs a city to live in attests to the number of the Zhu family’s descendants.

The Zhu family is such an odd existence. On Earth Fire Island, the Zhu family is the master, while others with different surnames are servants.

For outsiders, being granted the surname Zhu is the most honorable blessing.

There is also a strict hierarchy within the Zhu family. Branches with Innate Martial Artists can become main branches, and once an Innate Martial Artist passes away, the main branch becomes a secondary branch.

Once a branch becomes the main branch, its descendants can enter the power center of the Zhu family.
