Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 863: Chapter 634: This Battle Must Display the Yang Family’s Might

I’m holding back so much, it’s unbearable!

Yang Mingzhi’s face was full of excitement and ferocity; he actually never wanted to follow Yang Zhenshan to Star Moon Island.

What’s so good about Star Moon Island? It’s just such a small place.

Moreover, he wants glory and wealth, to show off his prowess, but clearly, Star Moon Island isn’t the place where he can do that.

Even if he wanted to flaunt his prowess, he couldn’t find anyone to do it with on Star Moon Island.

So he’s been holding it in all these years, occasionally sneaking out to let off some steam, but it’s just been some small skirmishes.

Now finally, there’s an opportunity to exhibit great power, and naturally, he is extremely excited.

Among the three brothers, the eldest, Yang Mingcheng, is dim-witted; as long as he can follow Yang Zhenshan, he doesn’t want to bother with anything else. The youngest, Yang Minghao, has become more stable but doesn’t have many crooked thoughts. Whatever Yang Zhenshan instructs, he does.

Only Yang Mingzhi has the most cunning thoughts and constantly thinks about being the master himself.

Of course, even with eight guts, he wouldn’t dare disobey Yang Zhenshan’s orders; he just doesn’t want to follow Yang Zhenshan but wants to do things on his own.

Just like in the past in Fuzhou, where he was his own master, doing whatever he wanted.

However, upon arriving at Star Moon Island, he had no room to act out.

He can understand Yang Zhenshan’s intent for him to leave Da Rong, but he just wants to stir trouble, disliking this peaceful and stable life.

On the East Mountain, Yang Zhenshan, Zhang Juhai, and Zhu Yanshan were having tea and discussing martial arts in the courtyard at the summit.

Since the three had been heavily drunk, their feelings had intensified a lot suddenly, truly like brothers from different fathers, just short of slaughtering chickens for a sworn brother ritual.

Of course, drinking was separate from business, Yang Zhenshan still remembered the proper tasks, and when it was time to discuss martial arts, they still did.

In their martial arts exchange, Zhu Yanshan naturally couldn’t get involved, but listening to their discussion was also an opportunity for him.

So these days, Zhu Yanshan had been following Yang Zhenshan and Zhang Juhai around, almost like a little follower, taking over Li Chang and Wang Lei’s duties.

Don’t be fooled by Zhu Yanshan’s seemingly dim-witted appearance; he’s much more clever than Yang Mingcheng.

Knowing that opportunities were hard to come by, he naturally didn’t want to miss it.

”Father, Elder Zhang! Brother Zhu!” Yang Mingzhi came into the courtyard, saw the three, and greeted them.

Yang Zhenshan raised his head and glanced at him, ”What’s the matter?”

”Yes, the joint army of Divine Wood Island and the Tarot Dynasty is on its way, expected to arrive by tomorrow morning!” Yang Mingzhi reported.

Zhang Juhai raised his eyebrows, ”They’re finally coming!”

Yang Zhenshan stood up, stroking his long beard, ”Looks like we’ll need a grand battle this time!”

”Haha, the Azure Sea Sword God, I’ve long been acquainted with him spiritually!”

The Azure Sea Sword God, known as Xiang Anxu, had been frequently mentioned by Zhang Juhai these days.

”Xiang Anxu, that old fellow, his strength is still quite formidable, even I must handle him cautiously!” Zhang Juhai reminded.

Yang Zhenshan slightly nodded, ”No problem, it happens I’ve had some insights these days; I can test them on him; just hope he’s not too weak!”

”Let’s go. Let’s wait for his grand arrival!”

With that said, everyone descended the mountain together.

At this time, the island’s populace also sprang into action; the strong young men were fully armed, ready to fight, waiting for the impending battle.

Gao Qinghai also followed the Beihenan Village troop to the coastal sentry post on Star Moon Island’s northern side.

The government had set up many sentry posts along the coast, almost every five miles there was one, and on the East Mountain, several lookout posts were established.

Usually, the government would dispatch officials to guard them, with officials patrolling the coast on horseback.

The primary function of these sentry posts was to prevent outsiders from sneaking onto the island.

There were countless bandits in the vast sea; although there were four surrounding islands as a warning line around Star Moon Island, the boundless sea inevitably allowed outsiders to bypass the warning line and approach Star Moon Island.

To prevent outsiders from causing trouble on the island, the government always monitored the surrounding waters of Star Moon Island.

Not only setting up sentry posts along the coast but also deploying boats to patrol the surrounding waters.

And now with enemies attacking in force, to prevent them from landing on the north coast by small boats, the government arranged for the strong young men from nearby villages to guard around the sentry posts.

As the sun set, the sky gradually darkened. Soon, a crescent moon hung on a starlit night, enveloping the entire Star Moon Island in a serene and cool atmosphere.

The docks on Star Moon Island’s southern side were already deserted; except for the stone-built landing stage, the quiet sea didn’t have a single ship visible.

And the streets and market on the dock side also fell into silence; besides the flickering candle flames, almost no light was seen, and no noise was heard, as if the entire Star Moon Island had fallen asleep.

This kind of atmosphere appeared for the first time on Star Moon Island.

Since its prosperity, Star Moon Island rarely had such moments of silence and tranquility.

Even deep into the night, Star Moon Island was usually brightly lit, unlike the silence of tonight.

In the back courtyard of the Elixir shop, Wang Mingzhe took out his long spear, quietly stroking the cold spear shaft.

The woman of the Sun family sat beside him, holding a long sword, appearing somewhat tense.

In the hall, there were also two sons and one daughter-in-law present.

Wang Mingzhe had two sons and a daughter; the eldest son, Wang Chengxue, was twenty this year, married for two years, his wife was Lin Zhan’s youngest daughter, Lin Nianci, who was already pregnant, expected to add a member to the Wang family in another six months.

The eldest daughter, Wang Wanxi, was eighteen this year and married Ding Qiu’s grandson, Ding Shengyun, last year.

The youngest son, Wang Chengyun, was fifteen this year and still unmarried.

At this time, the whole family was here except for the married Wang Wanxi.

”Husband, should we let the children hide?” The woman of the Sun family said worriedly.

Wang Mingzhe looked at his wife, puzzled, ”Why hide?”

”What if the enemy comes to our door?” The woman of the Sun family worriedly asked.

Wang Mingzhe laughed, ”With the master here, what are we afraid of? Besides, don’t I also understand such things?”

The woman of the Sun family, the daughter of Sun Wanzhen, had studied medicine and alchemy with Sun Wanzhen since childhood, and also cultivated, but hadn’t become a Martial Artist by the time she married Wang Mingzhe.

After marriage, she continued cultivating, now possessing the Postnatal Seventh Layer of cultivation.

But she had never fought, and with her gentle nature, she was a typical indoor woman.

A cultivation with no fighting ability at all.

Describes someone like her.

For her, cultivation was for strengthening her body and deepening her understanding of medicine and alchemy. Fighting wasn’t something she worried about.

”But~~” It was clear the woman of the Sun family had no confidence in her husband.

She’s never seen him fight, nor has she fought herself.

Wang Mingzhe chuckled, turned to look at his two sons, ”Are you afraid?”

”Not afraid!” Wang Chengxue said.

”I’m not afraid either!” Wang Chengyun said excitedly, ”Father, are you going to participate in the battle?”

”Father, as the master’s disciple, you must be very powerful, right!”

”Naturally!” Wang Mingzhe, in front of his sons, couldn’t lose face.

In reality, Wang Mingzhe was a bit nervous too; as the most skilled physician and alchemist on Star Moon Island, second only to Yang Zhenshan, his abilities naturally need not be mentioned.

But he seemed never to have fought nor been on the battlefield.

After over thirty years of cultivation, besides sparring, he truly had no real battle experience.

When Yang Zhenshan fought on the battlefield, he was still young. When he grew up, the Yang family moved to the Capital City, and later when Yang Zhenshan launched an attack on Star Moon Sect and raided Yemi City, he followed but did not participate in the battle, taking on the role of a medical officer treating the wounded.

Of course, he’s seen blood, cut open bodies, amputated, treated wounds; he’s done such tasks many times, and seen many dead people, just never killed anyone himself.

Thinking about fighting and killing tomorrow, his little heart couldn’t help but race uncontrollably.

”All of you watch closely, this time I’ll let you see your father’s might!”

Although feeling a bit anxious inside, Wang Mingzhe remained calm outwardly, posing as if he were very powerful.

He couldn’t lose face in front of his sons nor before his teacher, the master.

As the master’s disciple, he must give his all in the battle tomorrow.
