I Married the President

Chapter 427: Chapter 427: Rendezvous

According to the plan, Claire Sinclair would exit the airport first. Since she and Adrian Quincy were headed to different destinations, they needed to separate to avoid media attention.

Adrian Quincy had also arranged for four bodyguards to protect her. Two followed her openly, while the other two remained hidden from view.

It was Claire Sinclair’s first time in a foreign country. Having bodyguards with her made her feel incredibly secure.

As she reached the arrivals gate, her eyes were immediately drawn to a sign held by a beautiful woman with big, wavy curls—*Claire, my darling, over here!*

Claire Sinclair smiled and walked toward her.

Even though she was wearing a mask, Faye Dean, her best friend of many years, recognized her instantly and jogged over excitedly.

She swept her into a fierce hug, spinning her around with surprising strength before setting her back down. ”Claire, I missed you to death! C’mere and let me hug you properly. How are you still so skinny?”

She said this while enthusiastically squeezing Claire’s arm.

Claire Sinclair gave a resigned smile. ”Faye, take it easy.”

”Haha... I’m just so excited! Come on, let’s go hang out at my place!” With that, Faye Dean grabbed her hand and started dragging her out of the airport.

After a few steps, she noticed two burly, plain-clothed men following them and raised an eyebrow. ”Why are you two following us?”

Claire Sinclair quickly explained, ”They’re my bodyguards.”

Faye Dean immediately perked up. ”Look at you, Boss Claire! You even have bodyguards now!”

Claire Sinclair gave an embarrassed smile. ”Mr. Quincy arranged them for me.”

”He’s so good to you, it’s not even fair! I’m getting jealous!” Faye Dean was only half-joking. She wasn’t jealous at all; on the contrary, she was happy for Claire. Her Claire had finally found a man worthy of her, and she couldn’t be more thrilled.

A light blush crept onto Claire Sinclair’s face. ”Let’s not talk about him. I’m so tired. Where’s your car? I want to take a nap on the way.”

”My car’s not far. Let’s walk a little faster, then.” Faye Dean picked up the pace.

Once the two women were in the car, the two plain-clothed bodyguards got in as well.

It was a half-hour drive from the airport to Faye Dean’s house. Claire Sinclair conked out the moment she got in the car and was still fast asleep when they arrived. Faye Dean had to be the one to wake her.

The jet lag was hitting her hard. Claire Sinclair hadn’t gotten nearly enough sleep, and she still felt drowsy after getting out of the car.

Seeing how exhausted she was, Faye Dean didn’t have the heart to make her stay and catch up. Instead, she showed Claire to a room so she could get some sleep.

After getting Claire Sinclair settled, Faye Dean went downstairs.

Frank Morgan was sitting on the sofa. When he saw her come down without the other woman, he frowned. ”Where’s Claire Sinclair?”

”Sleeping,” Faye Dean said irritably.

Frank Morgan’s brow furrowed slightly. He wanted to know Young Master Quincy’s plan as soon as possible, so he’d been waiting there the whole time. He was thoroughly disappointed that the woman had gone upstairs and not come back down.

Seeing his disappointed expression, Faye Dean couldn’t resist chiding him. ”What, you wanted to talk to my Claire? Heh. Let me tell you, not a chance.”

Frank Morgan rolled his eyes at her and didn’t bother to reply.

Faye Dean arched an eyebrow, walked over, and sat down across from him.

She was about to say something else when she was struck by a serious realization.

’If this guy meets up with his boss, does that mean I’ll never see him again?’

For some reason, Faye Dean suddenly felt a pang of reluctance.

’Maybe it’s because we’ve spent so much time together, day in and day out. I’ve gotten used to his presence. The sudden prospect of a world without him... That must be why I feel this way.’
