I Married the President

Chapter 401: Chapter 401: A Kiss is Enough

’Putting on some ”old-age” pounds, huh!’

Claire Sinclair excitedly wrapped her arms around his neck, a sweet joy blooming in her heart. ”It’s too bad I’m on my period, or I’d definitely reward you with myself. I’m suddenly so happy!”

”Claire...” Adrian Quincy had a wounded look on his face.

Claire smiled playfully, rising onto her tiptoes to peck him on the cheek. ”There, one little kiss is enough. I’m hungry.”

Adrian held her small hand. ”Try on the cheongsam first. If it doesn’t fit, we can have it altered.”

”Okay, I’ll try it on, then we can eat!” Claire took the cheongsam off the hanger and made to go into the bathroom to change.

Adrian grabbed her wrist, his voice surprisingly hoarse. ”Claire, change in here.”

”N-no...” Claire’s face flushed. She was too embarrassed to change in front of him. Even though there were no secrets between them, it still felt strange.

Adrian tightened his grip on her hand. ”Claire, I want to watch.”

”But...”

”Hm?”

”Alright, then.” Claire relented. ’I don’t even know why I’m agreeing to such a shameless request. My brain must be fried from all the writing.’

First, she took off her watch, and then she started to undress.

But she didn’t dare face him, so she performed the whole series of actions with her back turned. Otherwise, she would have died from embarrassment.

When she was down to her underwear, Adrian’s gaze swept over her, but it held no lust. He simply watched quietly as she put on the cheongsam.

Since her measurements were taken a long time ago, the cheongsam was now a little loose on Claire.

Adrian said in a low voice, ”You see? Your previous measurements are no good anymore. Take it off, and I’ll bring it back to Mrs. Hartwell to have it taken in.”

Claire lowered her head, a guilty expression on her face. ”I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to lose the weight.”

’It was all because I didn’t recover properly after the miscarriage. How else would I have lost so much weight?’

”I’m not blaming you. Just be a bit more mindful in the future. Gaining four or five pounds will be enough.”

’Four or five pounds??’

To Claire Sinclair, that was an extremely difficult task!

’She just couldn’t gain weight. There was nothing she could do about it.’

Seeing her troubled expression, Adrian furrowed his brow slightly. ”You can’t do it?”

”That’s not it. I’ll try my best!”

”Take it off.”

”Mhm...” Claire hurriedly took off the cheongsam, not wanting to upset him by having him look at it any longer.

The moment she took off the cheongsam, Adrian could no longer restrain himself. He scooped her up, took two steps to the side of the bed, and gently placed her upon it.

Claire blinked innocently. ”Mr. Quincy, I’m on my period!”

”Just a kiss.”

”N-Mmph...”

’This guy’s kisses were always so intense!’

Thankfully, her period saved Claire’s skin. Even so, he’d kissed her senseless. The aftermath, simply put, was a tragic sight.

「That night.」

After Claire fell asleep, Adrian tiptoed out of the room, went down to the first floor, and entered his office.

Aiden Howkins, Helen Wallace, and Quentin Zane followed him inside, lining up in front of his desk.

Quentin Zane was the first to speak. ”Young Master Quincy, we’ve confirmed that the two men tailing Ms. Sinclair today were assassins hired by Hector Collier. However, we still haven’t identified who killed the two people here.”

After a brief pause, he added hesitantly, ”That assassin was in a perfect position to kill Ms. Sinclair, but they didn’t. That’s what’s so strange.”
