I Married the President

Chapter 403: Chapter 403: Is This a Little More Comfortable?

Claire Sinclair was still hung up on it. ”But...”

”If you’re still worried, then after your period ends, we’ll stop using protection until you get pregnant. How does that sound?”

Claire Sinclair hesitated for a moment, but ultimately couldn’t overcome her inner fear. She nodded. ”Then let’s stop using protection from now on. I want to have a child.”

’If I can get pregnant after the New Year,’ she calculated, ’by the time the baby is born, he’ll be just about to become president.’

So, she decided to change her life plan.

’For his inauguration, I’ll give him the most unique gift in the world—our child.’

’As long as we try a little harder from now on, we should be able to conceive, right?’

A small spark of hope ignited in Claire Sinclair’s heart, but her stomach hurt too much for her to even smile. She could only nestle weakly in his arms.

Adrian Quincy stroked her hair and soothed her in a low voice, ”Claire, I love you.”

’Who just confesses their love out of the blue like that?’

A short while later, Helen Wallace came in carrying a pile of things.

First, she placed a few warming pads on the table, then handed two mineral water bottles filled with hot water to Adrian Quincy. ”Adrian, the supermarkets are all closed at this hour, so I couldn’t buy a hot water bottle. Just use this makeshift method for now. Put one bottle by her feet and the other on her stomach. Also, stick the warming pads on her stomach. I guarantee she’ll warm up quickly.”

Adrian Quincy took the water bottles and, following her instructions, placed one by Claire Sinclair’s feet and the other around her stomach.

Claire Sinclair looked at Helen Wallace gratefully. ”Thank you, Sister Helen.”

”Haha... don’t mention it. Your sister used to get bad cramps too, and she was the one who taught me this trick. Alright, if there’s nothing else for me to do, I’ll head out. Just give me a call if you need anything, okay?”

Helen Wallace was a sensible woman. She dropped off the items and left, determined not to be a third wheel.

As soon as the door closed, Adrian Quincy picked up the warming pads from the table. After a glance at the instructions, he lifted her blanket, then raised her shirt to reveal her flat stomach.

Claire Sinclair crossed her arms over her chest. The cool air on her stomach, combined with the pain, made her body tense up.

Adrian Quincy first applied the warming pad for her, then pulled her shirt back down and covered her with the blanket again. A moment later, he slipped his hand under the covers and gently massaged her lower abdomen with his fingertips, asking softly, ”Does that feel a little better?”

”Uh... I think the pain is letting up.” ’This is amazing!’

Claire Sinclair didn’t know if it was the warming pad, his massage, or just a psychological effect, but in any case, her stomach didn’t hurt as much anymore.

Adrian Quincy stayed by her bedside, rhythmically massaging her stomach, a look of fatigue gradually appearing on his face.

Her heart ached for him. ”Mr. Quincy, you should lie down too. I’m fine now.”

Adrian Quincy nodded lightly, lifted the covers, and lay down beside her.

Then he placed his hand on her stomach again and continued his massage. ”Go to sleep. Good night.”

”Mr. Quincy...”

”Perhaps I’d find it more touching if you called me by my name.”

”Adrian?”

His response was a gentle goodnight kiss.

As the end of the month approached, Aethelgard was set to host a grand cultural exchange gala with Yarrow.

The night before the exchange, as per the schedule, Aridia would first host a state banquet to welcome the distinguished guests from afar.

After several days of indulgent eating, Claire Sinclair felt she had put on a little weight—and sure enough, when she weighed herself, she was half a pound heavier. The qipao that Adrian Quincy had sent to be altered had also been returned.
