Ghost Catching System

On the first day of class, Chu Hao enrolled in psychology. He had very few courses in the performing arts department, as the realm of the Pretentiousness Little Prince was a kind of psychological pretentiousness pattern.

He was just stepping into Level 3 and needed to prepare.

When he arrived at the classroom, there were a fair number of students studying psychology, though it wasn’t a large group.

”Are you Chu Hao?”

As soon as he entered the classroom, someone recognized him. After all, a photo from the night before had caused many to lose sleep.

The moment they heard Chu Hao had arrived, the students in the classroom were shocked, each pulling out their phones to take pictures and post to Moments.

For a moment, Chu Hao felt somewhat unaccustomed to the attention.

The classroom was abuzz. Everyone was posting to Moments, attracting many onlookers, and soon the classroom was full of people staring at Chu Hao as if he were a monkey.

Even Chu Hao wasn’t entirely comfortable with this.

A tall, sturdy young man approached. He looked like the type of troublemaker one might find in a school for freshmen. He asked, ”Chu Hao, are you really Yi Qinglian’s boyfriend?”

Chu Hao replied, ”Didn’t my Weibo post yesterday make it clear enough?”

The young man asked, ”How long have you two been together?”

Chu Hao answered indifferently, ”What’s it to you.”

The young man rolled up his sleeves and said, ”It *is* my business. For the sake of the masses, I want to beat you up.”

Seeing this, someone in the crowd jeered, ”I couldn’t sleep at all last night because of him!”

As he spoke, the young man lunged for Chu Hao’s collar.

Many people took out their phones to take photos and record the action, thrilled by the thought. If Yi Qinglian’s boyfriend ended up in the hospital just a day after her confession, the news would surely be explosive.

However, with a piercing scream, the tall young man was sent flying, crashing heavily into the wall and immediately passing out.

Chu Hao looked at his hand, thinking to himself, The strength of Intermediate Foundation Building is hard to control.

”DING! Host has shocked the crowd with pretension, gaining 3,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

Gasps filled the room. The young man weighed at least 140 pounds, yet he’d flown out like a sack. What kind of strength could do that?

The young man’s friends were furious. ”How could you hit someone?” one of them accused.

Chu Hao stated, his face expressionless, ”Self-defense.”

The young man’s friends were speechless. Many phones had recorded the incident, and it was true their friend had struck first. However, no one had clearly seen what happened before the tall young man was sent flying.

”You... just you wait!”

He helped the tall young man up and they left for the infirmary.

At that moment, everyone around quieted down. They took out their phones and slowed down the video footage to see exactly how the young man had been sent flying.

It turned out that just as the young man tried to grab Chu Hao, he was struck by a palm to his chest, sending him flying.

”So fast! I had to slow it down three times to see it clearly.”

Some watched the video several times, unable to discern how the blow was delivered until they slowed it down three times.

Everyone looked shocked and found it unbelievable. What kind of speed was Chu Hao displaying? And how could a palm strike delivered while seated possess so much power?

For a while, no one dared to provoke Chu Hao, and they quietly settled down for class.

「After class.」

Chu Hao was summoned by the academy’s dean. Everyone thought he would be punished for hitting someone.

Chu Hao met the dean, whom he recognized from the freshman orientation ceremony.

”Chu Hao, the parents of the student you hit have filed a complaint demanding we discipline you. If we don’t, they’re threatening to sue the academy,” the middle-aged dean said bluntly.

Chu Hao replied coolly, ”What era is this? Running to your parents after losing a fight? That’s laughable.”

The middle-aged dean said helplessly, ”But the video footage shows Yang Dong approaching you, and you hitting him first.”

Chu Hao asked indifferently, ”So, what’s the plan?”

The middle-aged dean looked at Chu Hao and suddenly noticed the peculiar deep gray color of his pupils. The longer he looked, the greater the pressure he felt, as if a giant hand were enveloping him, causing him to feel suffocated.

The dean’s heart skipped a beat. ”I’m going to issue a disciplinary action this time,” he said. ”Remember, if you receive another one, you’ll be expelled.”

Chu Hao nodded and left the dean’s office.

After Chu Hao left, he was in a foul mood. He was already annoyed about his eye problem, and now, on top of that, someone had set him up.

Was all this just a coincidence?

No.

Chu Hao could smell a conspiracy. Even if he had injured the young man, it wasn’t serious enough for him to tell his parents; he would have been too embarrassed to admit he’d been beaten.

It was possible this was a conspiracy. Perhaps the young man wanted to get him kicked out of school, or maybe someone else was pulling the strings.

It seems some people think I, Chu Hao, am easy to bully, Chu Hao sneered internally.

「In the infirmary.」

Yang Dong was lying on a bed, his injuries considerably healed. He was chatting on his phone with an upperclassman from the school.

Just then, a call came through. The person on the other end asked, ”What’s the situation?”

Yang Dong replied, ”Don’t worry. I’ve already heard Chu Hao received a disciplinary action. One more, and he’ll be expelled.”

The person on the phone said, ”Good. I’ll introduce you to a third-rate starlet to have some fun with another day.”

Yang Dong said, ”What’s fun about a third-rate starlet? They’re all washed up. Find me an up-and-coming model with some real prestige.”

The person on the phone replied, ”No problem.”

After hanging up, Yang Dong felt pretty good. Although the slap had hurt, forging a closer connection with the person on the phone was a decent trade-off.

Just then, someone entered the infirmary. Yang Dong, thinking it was the doctor, put down his phone and feigned agony.

But when he looked up, it wasn’t the doctor—it was Chu Hao.

Yang Dong fumed, ”What are you doing here?”

Chu Hao looked him up and down. ”You’re in big trouble,” he said.

Yang Dong snorted. ”Let me tell you, fighting in the academy is a serious offense. Just wait for your disciplinary action!”

Chu Hao smiled faintly. Behind him, Sadako appeared silently, her face a vision of supreme horror.

Chu Hao said, ”Disciplinary action means nothing to me. You, on the other hand, are the one in big trouble now.”

At the sight of Sadako’s terrifying visage, Yang Dong screamed shrilly and tumbled off the bed in fear.

”What’s going on?” the doctor asked, rushing in.

Yang Dong scrambled up, his face white as a sheet. He pointed frantically and stammered, ”Doctor, there’s a ghost! A ghost!”

The doctor frowned. ”A ghost? Where? Did you hit your head or something?”

Yang Dong’s teeth chattered. The doctor couldn’t see Sadako, but Yang Dong saw her perfectly clearly.

Sadako’s horrific face drew close to Yang Dong. The suffocating iciness and bone-deep chill plunged his spirit into tremendous terror. He let out a pig-like squeal and scrambled backward.

Yang Dong tried to flee, but the doctor quickly held him down, calling for several others to help restrain the frantically struggling young man.

Chu Hao waited a while. Yang Dong eventually calmed down, having already wet himself in terror.

Chu Hao walked over and whispered in his ear, ”I’ll have her keep you company. With your level of courage, I reckon you’ll go mad in three days.”

Yang Dong stared at Chu Hao in disbelief.

Chu Hao asked, ”Who’s trying to harm me?”
