Ghost Catching System

Chu Hao found it odd. He had known about the Artifact Refining feature for a while. This time, some shop items were unlocked. What items?

The toad was envious and said, ”Kiddo Chu, where did you find this fan?”

The fatty also came over, took a curious look at the fan, and exclaimed in surprise, ”What a powerful treasure. Bro, are you selling it?”

Chu Hao completely ignored them.

After the Ghost Image was annihilated, those female Fierce Ghosts also vanished. Their life-bound spirits had been controlled by the Ghost Image, and their appearance before was to bewilder Chu Hao and the others.

At that moment, Chu Hao saw a glint of light at the spot where the Ghost Image was burned to ashes. He walked over and found something in the ashes.

It was a piece of stone, similar to Hetian jade, white and translucent.

The fatty asked oddly, ”What’s this?”

The toad pounced, but Chu Hao was prepared and kicked the toad away, cursing, ”Damn toad, trying to steal again!”

The toad was kicked away, scrambled back to its feet, and fumed, ”Kiddo Chu, you deceived this emperor! I demand compensation. That piece of jade doesn’t look too shabby. Give it to me.”

”Scram.”

The toad was extremely annoyed. He felt cheated and was very angry.

System notification: ”Ghost Demon Core, can be used for Artifact Refining, exchangeable for 7,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

A good find. 7,000 Pretentiousness Points are no small amount. Despite him now getting two or three thousand points per act of pretentiousness, the difficulty of being pretentious had changed.

Chu Hao asked, ”What grade of Ghost Demon would possess a Ghost Demon Core?”

The toad replied grumpily, ”No wonder that Ghost Image was so formidable. Turns out it had a Ghost Demon Core inside.”

The Ghost Demon Core, an anomalous object within a Ghost Demon, gathered most of the Ghost Demon’s power, such as Ghost Qi and Monster Qi, all of which were emitted from the Ghost Demon Core.

Chu Hao immediately exchanged it for Pretentiousness Points, as that was what he needed most right now.

”DING... Host has exchanged the Ghost Demon Core and received 7,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

Now, he had 19,000 Pretentiousness Points.

It was time to head back.

The fatty lamented, ”If not for you guys, I would’ve been a goner tonight.”

On his own, he wouldn’t have been able to deal with the Ghost Image. Luckily, Chu Hao and the others arrived. Still, he was very annoyed about getting thrashed by that opponent.

The fatty left without giving his name, saying they’d meet again if fate willed it, and departed with an air of nonchalance.

The Old Lama was immensely grateful, viewing Chu Hao as a God. He had not spoken for ten years due to a calamity in his heart—the Evil Ghosts of West Mountain.

Chu Hao and the toad were ready to return when the fatty came over with a bicycle, its wheels completely bent out of shape. He said awkwardly, ”Can I hitch a ride? My bike’s broken.”

This fatty was quite a character, riding a bicycle in the wilderness to catch ghosts late at night.

After getting in the car, the fatty fumed, ”That bastard ruined my bike! If I catch him, I’ll certainly flatten him into a pancake.”

Chu Hao kept a straight face, thinking to himself, So that’s whose bike it was.

Once in the car, the fatty rambled, ”A bunch of bastards, saying cycling through Tibet is fun. Why did I listen to those fools?”

It turned out the fatty had come to Tibet on a trip. He had heard that cycling through Tibet was cool, so he tried it, but his experiences were almost as numerous and miserable as Tang Sanzang’s legendary eighty-one tribulations.

The fatty asked, ”Buddy, where are you from?”

Chu Hao replied, ”No particular sect or alliance. How about you?”

”Kunlun,” said the fatty.

Chu Hao was somewhat surprised. This fatty was actually from Kunlun! No wonder he was so skilled. Even though he couldn’t defeat the Ghost Image, the way his black dragon had entangled it showed he was no ordinary fighter.

Chu Hao asked, ”Does your Kunlun group have someone named Ju Zheng Qing?”

The fatty looked surprised and said, ”You know my junior martial sister?”

Chu Hao watched the fatty, a peculiar expression on his face.

With a proud air, the fatty boasted, ”Don’t mind that I’m younger than her; my status on Kunlun Mountain is not low! If you ever visit, I’ll make sure you have a great time touring around.”

Later, the fatty introduced himself. His name was Wu Qingfeng.

Once Wu Qingfeng got in the car, he wouldn’t stop talking. He seemed to be a chatterbox, prattling on about all sorts of things.

Chu Hao asked, ”Where are you headed?”

Wu Qingfeng said awkwardly, ”I don’t have a place to stay. A thief stole my money.”

Chu Hao was taken aback and said, ”Then where did you plan to stay after leaving us?”

Wu Qingfeng replied, ”Out in the open. I brought a tent and some dry rations, but the tent was crushed by some bastard driving by. Now I’m homeless.”

Chu Hao coughed dryly, feeling a bit embarrassed, and said, ”Well then, why don’t you come back with us?”

After all, I crushed the man’s bicycle. It would be quite awkward to leave him stranded in Tibet.

Wu Qingfeng was touched and said, ”Dude, I really appreciate it.”

They chatted a lot along the way. Wu Qingfeng said, ”I haven’t seen a single beauty since I came to Tibet. Sigh.”

The toad said, ”Wu Fatty, aren’t you a Taoist? Yet you fancy women.”

Wu Qingfeng looked down on the toad and said, ”You’re a toad. Don’t you like women? That’s strange. Don’t toads like female toads?”

The toad said indignantly, ”This Emperor is not a toad!”

Wu Qingfeng replied, ”Keep telling yourself that.”

The toad was thoroughly dejected.

They returned to Elder Zaxi’s house and left the next day for the airport in Lhasa.

On the plane, Wu Qingfeng remarked, ”Tibet is quite beautiful, but I, this Daoist master, have grown tired of the scenery on Kunlun Mountain.”

The fatty was rambling on again. He started to talk about women, which piqued the toad’s interest. They began exchanging thoughts on the subject through telepathy—a man and a toad, two of a kind in their vulgar tastes.

Chu Hao ignored them and closed his eyes to check the System.

He found the Artifact Refining function and some descriptions.

Artifact Refining: Different materials can be used to forge different Magic Artifacts and weapons.

Chu Hao asked, ”System, what items did you unlock in the shop earlier?”

System: ”Materials for Magic Artifacts, which the Host can purchase for Artifact Refining.”

Chu Hao opened the Magic Artifact materials section and saw a dense list of items. Even the cheapest ones cost five thousand Pretentiousness Points.

For example:

Thousand-Year-Old Bodhi Tree: Requires 5,000 Pretentiousness Points.

Thousand-Year-Old Peach Wood Core: Requires 5,000 Pretentiousness Points.

Stellar Iron: Requires 10,000 Pretentiousness Points.

There were all sorts of materials, all intended for Artifact Refining.

After searching for a while, Chu Hao found the fire crystals for Samadhi True Fire: the Stone Fire Crystal and the Air Fire Crystal. These items, which could originally only be obtained from treasure chests, were now available for purchase.

However, the prices...

Stone Fire Crystal: Requires 50,000 Pretentiousness Points.

Air Fire Crystal: Requires 50,000 Pretentiousness Points.

Damn it, why is this stuff so expensive? No wonder I had such a burst of luck last time to get the Wood Fire Crystal; the odds for that must have been only one in ten thousand!

Chu Hao said, ”System, open the Green Diamond Treasure Chest.”

”DING... Host has opened the Green Diamond Treasure Chest, obtaining one jin of Starfall Heavy Iron.”

Item: Starfall Heavy Iron

Rarity: ★★★★

Ability: One liang of this Heavy Iron weighs three jin; carries Starfall power (Artifact Refining material).
