Ghost Catching System

The building wasn’t far, and Chu Hao quickly arrived below it.

The area was spacious. In the usually bustling Imperial Capital, this spot emitted a chilling solemnity, with very few vehicles passing by.

Upon arriving, Chu Hao only saw an old guard dressed in a security uniform.

Just as Chu Hao was about to enter, the security guard stopped him, saying, ”Kid, what are you trying to do?”

Chu Hao said, ”My friend is inside.”

The old guard laughed. ”No one’s in this building. You should head back.”

Chu Hao looked at the old guard. ”If there’s no one, old man, what are you doing here guarding this place?”

The old guard said, ”The company pays me. I’m responsible for watching over the place. Now, move along.”

Chu Hao asked, ”Is there something special inside?”

The old guard looked at Chu Hao and, without answering his question, said, ”You’re not one of those who heard about the ghosts and came to have a look, are you? You young folks really don’t value your lives.”

Chu Hao took out a cigarette and handed it to the old man. ”Old man, aren’t you afraid of the ghosts inside?”

The old man, smoking, said, ”Afraid of what? I don’t go inside. As long as I clock in and out on time, I get my money each month, which is plenty for an old man like me.”

”Did someone die in there?” Chu Hao asked.

The old man savored the cigarette—it cost a hundred yuan a pack—and said blissfully, ”Yes, people have died. Young man, stop asking and don’t come here again. It’s very unsafe.”

The old man was also kindly warning him.

Chu Hao nodded and asked the old man where the Imperial Capital Film Academy was. The old man replied, ”Take the XX bus. It’s a two-kilometer trip.”

Chu Hao left, planning to return for another look that evening.

「The Film Academy.」

The new students had been reporting for a week, military training had just ended, and on the first day of school, handsome guys and beautiful girls were absolutely everywhere—a deluge, even.

Why the phrase ’flooded to the point of disaster’?

Because many of those admitted to the Film Academy were destined for the entertainment industry, naturally possessing good looks and charm.

The academy even made headlines with a title that read: ”Imperial Capital Film Academy Commences: Thirty Percent of the Nation’s Beauties and Hunks Are Here.”

This also made the academy stand out every year and attracted plenty of handsome lads to apply.

As Chu Hao entered the university, he saw many handsome men and beautiful women chatting and laughing as they walked by, a dazzling array that was a feast for the eyes.

However, there were few with unique characteristics; most had undergone cosmetic surgery, inevitably giving them a social-media-influencer kind of look.

”The Human World, Heaven,” muttered the Toad.

Chu Hao wasn’t impressed. He had seen too many beauties. No matter how pretty, could they compare to his Chan Baby at home?

Chu Hao said, ”This is Heaven on earth for you? Your standards are pretty low.”

The Toad was not pleased.

For ordinary people, regardless of gender, everyone here possessed exceptional looks, yet Chu Hao felt quite indifferent.

It couldn’t be helped. Brother Hao was now so awesome that he regarded all women as mere mortals. He was just that explosively cool.

Chu Hao called Li Yin, but his phone was switched off.

Chu Hao then wandered around the campus alone. Approaching a passerby, he asked, ”Miss, where is the registration area?”

This young woman was a beauty, scoring over eight points—pure and refined, with a slender waist—standing out even among the many beauties of the academy. She pointed in a direction. ”It’s on the fifth floor of Building C.”

Chu Hao said thanks and turned to leave.

A girl next to Lin Wan said in surprise, ”That junior was so calm. I thought he was coming over to chat us up.”

Hugging her books, Lin Wan laughed. ”As if there aren’t enough people trying to chat me up.”

The girl said, ”TSK TSK... That means he’s blind, not recognizing Lin Wan, one of our school’s goddesses.”

Lin Wan said, ”You talk too much. Let’s go, we’re almost late.”

Chu Hao arrived at the registration area. There was still one person inside, a middle-aged woman. She looked at Chu Hao’s admission notice and frowned. ”You’re just arriving now?”

Chu Hao said, ”Something came up at home. I’ve already called the teacher to ask for leave.”

The middle-aged woman nodded, made a phone call to Chu Hao’s class teacher, and after confirming, she said, ”Alright, go ahead and register.”

Chu Hao leisurely and unhurriedly arrived at the classroom but found no one there. It was only after checking the blackboard that he realized today was the new student welcoming ceremony.

At that moment, the Toad said, ”Kiddo Chu, I’ll come find you tonight to take a look at that Ghost Qi.”

Chu Hao said, ”You’re interested in Ghost Qi too?”

The Toad replied, ”This King devours not only Ghost Qi but Evil Qi as well. I’ll find you when it’s time.”

Chu Hao asked, ”Where are you going?”

”None of your business.”

With that, the ruffian Toad left.

Chu Hao arrived alone at the new student welcoming ceremony, only to find that the event had already started and was nearing its end.

A teacher saw Chu Hao casually walking in and frowned. ”Why are you only just arriving? Which department and class are you from? What’s your name?”

Chu Hao said, ”Performance Department, Classroom XX, Chu Hao.”

He’s still so composed? Doesn’t he realize the seriousness of this situation? the teacher thought.

The middle-aged director said angrily, ”So you’re Chu Hao, is that right? Come to my office after the assembly.”

Wasn’t university supposed to be less strict? High school teachers are all liars, Chu Hao thought, annoyed.

Meanwhile, someone stepped up to speak on the stage: a senior from the third year.

”That’s Lin Wan!”

Seeing Lin Wan, many new students became excited. She was the goddess and campus belle of the Film Academy, rumored to have already been approached by many investors for acting roles. It wouldn’t be long before they could see her on the silver screen.

By then, she might become a new favorite in the entertainment industry.

Lin Wan’s speech earned her a round of enthusiastic applause.

”The school’s goddess is truly a goddess, so beautiful.”

”Exactly! It’s a shame she’s going into show business. If she didn’t act, I’d support her for a lifetime.”

”Heh, as if she would even glance your way.”

The person on stage said, ”Next, let us invite a representative of the new students to speak.”

”Welcome, Yi Qinglian!”

Yi Qinglian?

The crowd gasped.

”No way! Is it really the big star Yi Qinglian?”

”I saw in the news that Yi Qinglian might be a student in this year’s intake. Oh my god, I’m actually in the same batch as the national goddess!”

Everyone was excited beyond belief. Yi Qinglian’s fame was immense. She debuted at a very young age, sang, danced, and acted—practically an all-around superstar. All the films she starred in grossed over a hundred million, with the highest reaching 2.7 billion. She had even appeared in the Spring Festival Gala and was a household name.

Indeed, many Hollywood filmmakers from Europe and America had sought her for movies, but she refused them all.

She was a leading figure in the entertainment industry, the national goddess.

She wasn’t even twenty yet, her acting surpassed the older generation, and she had already won the award for the youngest Best Actress globally.

The entire audience was in an uproar, extremely excited.

Even the middle-aged director who had scolded Chu Hao couldn’t be bothered with him anymore. Instead, he looked towards the stage, his gaze fervent. It appeared he was also a fan of Yi Qinglian. Now, a heavyweight figure was about to appear.

Yi Qinglian stepped onto the stage, dressed in a light, gauzy long dress, sheer as cicada wings. Her delicate small waist was soft, white, and tender, a mere handful, enough to make any man’s nose bleed just by looking at her.

Beneath, the dress reached down to her ankles, her fair and slender ankles slightly visible through the thin material, making one wish they could immediately grab hold of her ankle and admire it earnestly.
