Ghost Catching System

The Evil Ghost writhed, its scalp splitting open as if shedding a layer of human skin. A pitch-black monster crawled out.

It was no ghost; it was clearly a monster.

The creature crouched on the ground. It had a half-human, half-beast body with long, powerful limbs, standing over two meters tall. Its once-human face had transformed into a skeletal skull that spat out black smoke, an extremely eerie sight.

”Ding! The Evil Ghost has transformed into a Ghost Image. The task has been upgraded to SS-level.”

System prompt: ”Killing the Ghost Image will reward ten million Experience Points.”

System prompt: ”Killing the Ghost Image will reward one hundred and fifty thousand Merit Points.”

System prompt: ”Killing the Ghost Image will reward one Green Diamond Treasure Chest.”

Ghost Image, is this the true face of the Evil Ghost?

What a scam! This thing is a Ghost Demon, belonging to the Mountain Ghost category and an elite among Demons. It’s known among mortals as a Mountain Monster that preys on humans.

Chu Hao’s mouth twitched. It actually escalated to an SS-level task!

Fatty was startled; the Monster Qi emanating from the Ghost Image was terrifying.

The Ghost Image lunged forward like a fierce beast, its claws as sharp as rows of blades.

The Ghost Image’s first target was Chu Hao. Its blade-like claws slashed viciously at him.

Chu Hao raised the Ritian Stick to block but was still sent flying by a powerful force, almost like being hit by a locomotive.

”Eat this, Your Reverence!” Fatty, undaunted, slapped down hard with his pan.

CLANG!

Fatty’s frying pan was useless too. Striking the Ghost Image had no effect; it merely turned its head to look at him.

Fatty was startled and said, ”We can’t beat it! Running is the best plan!”

With that, Fatty bolted.

But the Ghost Image wouldn’t let him go. It spat out a long, crimson tongue, wrapped it around Fatty’s waist, and violently flung him away. He crashed through an old house, collapsing it and becoming buried in the rubble.

The Toad also slipped away, seeing how bad the situation was and not even bothering to fight.

Chu Hao’s arms were numb. The Ghost Image’s strength is simply too great! This is a true SS-level task, not like that half-baked Black Water Ghost King.

Seeing the Toad flee, Chu Hao cursed, ”Where the hell do you think you’re running? Get a hold of it! I brought the fan!”

The Toad cursed back, ”As if this Emperor cares!”

Relying on the Toad seemed hopeless now.

However, the Ghost Image had no intention of letting the Toad escape either. Its skeletal skull opened, and it spat out a black thorn, striking the Toad.

The Toad yelped, ”OUCH!” and rolled away, the black thorn leaving a mark on its body.

The Toad was furious. Deep down, he felt vulnerable. The Ghost Image had marked him! Once Chu Hao and Fatty were dealt with, it would surely come for him next! He raged, ”So, the tiger doesn’t show its might, and you take this Emperor for a common toad?”

The Toad puffed up its cheeks and spat out a fireball one meter in diameter. The fireball shot out and exploded ahead, engulfing an area over ten meters wide in terrible flames.

The Toad was pleased with itself. Such power was considerable! If the Ghost Image could emerge unscathed from that, it would be truly impressive.

Indeed, the Ghost Image emerged completely unharmed. Flames enveloped it, raging fiercely, but caused no damage whatsoever. Its tongue lashed out and ensnared the Toad.

The Toad shrieked in terror, ”HOLY CRAP! SAVE MEEEEE!”

Chu Hao rushed forward, slashing fiercely with the Night Demon Blade at the tongue. The Ghost Image was quick to retract it.

The Toad warned, ”Be careful! This isn’t just any Ghost Demon—it’s from the Shanhai Secret Realm!”

Chu Hao had guessed as much already.

Chu Hao took the Greenwood Flame Fan from his back and said, ”Look for an opening.”

Fatty pushed the rubble off himself. He was covered in dirt and grime, and he exclaimed angrily, ”If Your Reverence doesn’t show his might, you think I’m just a decoration?”

Chanting an incantation, he produced three talismans. He slapped the first one onto the frying pan and intoned, ”Emergency Wish-Granting Command!”

The frying pan flew out, the talisman on it flickering. A black dragon shadow emerged from it and pounced at the Ghost Image.

The Ghost Image was extraordinarily fierce; it lunged forward and began to battle the black dragon.

Fatty bit his finger and drew on another yellow talisman with his blood. The talisman flew out and affixed itself to the black dragon.

Instantly, a surge of immense righteous energy erupted. The black dragon grew larger, roaring ferociously at the Ghost Image as it tore and bit with even greater vigor.

Fatty was sweating profusely. ”Use whatever tricks you have now! Your Reverence can’t hold on much longer!”

Chu Hao had been watching closely and finally saw his chance. He fanned fiercely with the Greenwood Flame Fan.

”Ding! Host has used Greenwood Flame, consuming 20,000 Mana Points.”

Ahead, the Greenwood Flame erupted, setting the Ghost Image ablaze. Eerie green flames burned persistently, causing the Ghost Image to scream in agony and roll on the ground.

This sight made everyone ecstatic.

Right now, I should show off a bit to lighten the mood.

Chu Hao, shouldering his fan, sneered, ”A mere Ghost Demon from the Shanhai Secret Realm? My flames will scorch you to cinders in minutes!”

”Ding! Host’s swagger was successful. Gained 2,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

He hadn’t had a chance to swagger like this in a long time. Although it was a bit forced, it still shocked the others, like Fatty.

Fatty exclaimed, ”What a powerful fan!”

However, the Ghost Image wasn’t dead. Even though the fire had charred its flesh, revealing the bones beneath, it still hadn’t died. Roaring, it charged forward like a ball of fire.

Chu Hao was startled and turned to run.

Damn it! It didn’t die from that?!

Chu Hao’s heart pounded. Even a Ghost King shouldn’t have been able to withstand the Greenwood Flame’s power, yet this thing was still holding on!

Chu Hao gritted his teeth and said, ”System, buy an Instant Mana Recovery Potion.”

”Ding! Host has purchased an Instant Mana Recovery Potion, consuming 3,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

Item: Instant Mana Recovery Potion

Rarity: ★★

Ability: Instantly recovers Mana Points, can fully restore 50,000 Mana Points at once.

This thing is so expensive! But there’s no other choice now. I’ll hit it with the fan again!

”To hell with you!”

Chu Hao turned around and fanned again.

The flames on the Ghost Image flared violently. It screamed in pain, emitting low growls. Finally, unable to withstand it any longer, its head began to crack, and its body slowly melted into ash.

”Ding! Killing the Ghost Image, mission completed. Gained ten million Experience Points.”

”Ding! Killing the Ghost Image, mission completed. Gained 150,000 Merit Points.”

”Ding! Killing the Ghost Image, mission completed. Gained a Green Diamond Treasure Chest.”

”Ding! Congratulations to Host for advancing to Level 3.”

”Ding! System upgrading... Weapons refining function unlocked.”

”Ding! System upgrading... Partial shop items unlocked.”

Chu Hao breathed a sigh of relief. That Evil Ghost is finally dead. It was too terrifying! One blast from the Greenwood Flame Fan wasn’t enough to kill it; it took two.

Still, the rewards this time were substantial, and he had also leveled up.
