Ghost Catching System

Not long after, some of Chu Hao’s information was published online, lacking only a photo.

Innumerable media outlets flocked to the dormitory building in search of Chu Hao. The college, left with no choice, had to deploy security guards to thwart the media frenzy; otherwise, swarms of people would have stormed into the dorm.

Meanwhile, Chu Hao and his three friends were out. Li Yin, who had said he would treat them, had earned quite a bit from acting. He took Chu Hao and the others to the best restaurant in the area and ordered a lavish spread of dishes.

A beautiful woman approached. She wore tight jeans that couldn’t conceal her stunning figure. Sporting sunglasses and dressed in modest, simple clothes, she exuded a unique charm.

She walked up to their table where the four were seated. The other three men were puzzled, wondering who this woman was.

Chu Hao said to Li Yin, ”Aren’t you going to offer your seat?”

Li Yin rose, bewildered. Once the young woman sat down and removed her sunglasses, the other three men at the table stared, their eyes wide open.

Yi Qinglian said with a light chuckle, ”Hello, my name is Yi Qinglian.”

The National Goddess had actually arrived!

Li Yin was relatively composed; after all, he was already familiar with her. But seeing Yi Qinglian now, even he found it incredible that Chu Hao had actually won over the National Goddess.

Teng Jin and Feng Gao, however, were beside themselves with excitement. They shook hands with Yi Qinglian very cautiously, resembling devoted fans meeting their idol.

Yi Qinglian turned to Chu Hao and asked, ”You came to the Imperial Capital? Why didn’t you contact me beforehand?”

Chu Hao replied awkwardly, ”I came to the Imperial Capital from Tibet on short notice. I was afraid I’d disturb you, so I didn’t get in touch.”

Yi Qinglian gave him a reproachful look and said, ”That’s a rather lame excuse.”

The other three nodded in agreement, inwardly cursing Chu Hao for being so casual with the National Goddess. If it were them, they’d jump at the chance to be with Yi Qinglian every day.

Chu Hao shook his head. ”I’ve been too busy recently.”

Yi Qinglian then asked, ”What about Chan’er?”

Chu Hao felt awkward. Yi Qinglian was no ordinary person; it would be all too easy for her to find out about Diao Chan’s existence.

Speaking of Diao Chan, Chu Hao sighed. ”Something happened in Tibet. She won’t be able to return for a while.”

Yi Qinglian said reproachfully, ”You really are a player.”

Li Yin was relatively composed, but the other two, listening in, exchanged glances. Does Chu Hao have other women? This news is too explosive!

Damn! We even feel sorry for the megastar!

The National Goddess competing with another woman for a man, openly declaring her feelings to win his heart?

If this news got out, how sensational would it be?

Chu Hao looked embarrassed. Even though Yi Qinglian hadn’t been physically with him, she seemed to know everything but had simply refrained from mentioning it. Now that they’d met, she didn’t care if others were present and immediately began to pour out her grievances.

Li Yin cleared his throat. ”AHEM, I need to use the restroom.”

The other two wanted to stay and watch, but Li Yin shot them a look, and Feng Gao said, ”I—I need to use the restroom too.”

”Me too.”

After the three left, Yi Qinglian’s reproachful gaze intensified as she asked, ”What is your relationship with Chan’er?”

Chu Hao’s head throbbed. This was going to be difficult to brush off. It feels like I, Brother Hao, am being backed into a corner today, with no easy way to deflect this.

He finally understood what it felt like: to be forced to the edge of a cliff, driven to desperate measures, like a hero embarking on a journey of no return.

Chu Hao hesitated and stammered, ”I, I don’t really have anything serious with her.”

Yi Qinglian maintained a calm expression.

Seeing her like this, Chu Hao felt a pang of guilt. He decided it would be better to tell the truth, come what may. ”Her real name is Diao Chan,” he admitted. ”She is the most talented woman from the Three Kingdoms era.”

Yi Qinglian looked up, her face a mask of shock as she stared at Chu Hao.

”Diao... Diao Chan?” Even the megastar was shocked speechless, her mouth agape.

Chu Hao nodded, his expression grim. ”She is a Ghost. In this modern age, she has no relatives. After she met me, I gave her a temporary body. But a Ghost is still a Ghost. If one stays in the Human World too long, they will eventually vanish, their soul dissipating like smoke.”

Yi Qinglian covered her mouth.

Chu Hao sighed and continued, ”You understand her background. From a young age, she was used as a political pawn. I couldn’t bear to see it, so I helped her.”

Yi Qinglian herself had once faced an arranged political marriage by her family, so she understood how Diao Chan must have felt.

But Diao Chan had been adopted by her foster father, making her circumstances even more pitiful than Yi Qinglian’s. Plus, she had been a Ghost for so many years before Chu Hao found her. She must have suffered terribly.

Yi Qinglian felt a deep sympathy for Diao Chan. She had read *Romance of the Three Kingdoms* since she was young and had always admired Diao Chan, even fantasizing that she herself was the foremost beauty of the Three Kingdoms era.

Indeed, Diao Chan was Yi Qinglian’s idol.

Yi Qinglian asked excitedly, ”Then where is Diao Chan? Didn’t she come to the Imperial Capital with you?”

Yi Qinglian’s demeanor shifted from reproachful to excited, like a young fan eagerly anticipating the chance to meet her idol, Diao Chan, immediately.

Chu Hao put on a deliberately guilty expression and said, ”Qinglian, you don’t blame me, do you?”

Yi Qinglian, still somewhat naive, was no match for the scheming Chu Hao. She said, ”If I were you, I would have done the same. I’d look down on you if you didn’t!”

Chu Hao’s heart blossomed with joy. I really am a master at charming ladies! He then said, ”But, I... with her...?”

Yi Qinglian’s heart tightened. She quickly asked, ”Is Diao Chan alright? Ghosts are very fragile, especially with you, a man of potent Yang energy. If anything happened between you two, it could harm her soul!”

Lately, Yi Qinglian had been studying the lore of the Yin and Yang Realm and had learned a great deal.

Chu Hao felt a wave of dizziness. How quickly she’s taken Diao Chan’s side!

Yi Qinglian said indignantly, ”If you have... needs, you can find someone else! Diao Chan’s soul is so frail. How could you do that to her?”

Chu Hao stared at Yi Qinglian, dumbfounded. Was my act too convincing? Did it actually move her this much on Diao Chan’s behalf?

Yes, that must be it.

An embarrassed Chu Hao stammered, ”I... I didn’t do anything!”

Yi Qinglian said angrily, ”Diao Chan has suffered so much, been a Ghost for so long, and now you’re forcing yourself on her? You’re too inhumane!”

Chu Hao was utterly speechless.

In the distance, the three were hiding in a corner, eavesdropping. However, they couldn’t hear clearly, only that Yi Qinglian seemed to be getting angry.

Feng Gao whispered, ”Are those two fighting?”

Teng Jin replied, ”Seems like it.”

Li Yin was also puzzled, wondering what was happening.

Sigh... The goddess has fallen.

Yi Qinglian said furiously, ”Where is Diao Chan? I won’t let her fall into your demonic clutches!”

Chu Hao was rendered speechless. Looking at Yi Qinglian, who was glaring at him like a little tigress, he said helplessly, ”Can you please let me finish? I haven’t had any relations with Diao Chan. I’m not an idiot; I understand these things.”

Only then did Yi Qinglian realize her emotions had run a bit too high. Just moments ago, she was upset with Chu Hao for not being truthful, and now she had completely sided with Diao Chan.

Chu Hao said with a sigh of resignation, ”Diao Chan is in Tibet. Someone is helping to reconstruct her soul.”

Yi Qinglian finally breathed a sigh of relief, realizing she had misjudged Chu Hao. Embarrassed, she said, ”I... I just got too carried away.”

Chu Hao asked in surprise, ”What’s gotten into you today?”

Yi Qinglian stuck out her tongue playfully. ”I’m not telling you! But when Diao Chan comes back, I absolutely must meet her.”
