Ghost Catching System

She possessed the classical beauty of an Eastern woman. Her skin was as fair and smooth as jade, her eyes as clear as water, curving like a crescent moon when she smiled, enough to melt hearts.

Yi Qinglian walked onto the stage, smiled, and said, ”I am Yi Qinglian.”

The students below couldn’t stop screaming, men and women alike. Some sophomores and juniors who weren’t even freshmen rushed into the hall.

Even Lin Wan couldn’t help but be astonished. Yi Qinglian was simply too outstanding, so much so that she made others feel inferior.

Yi Qinglian continued, ”I won’t say much else, as the principal has already said it all.”

The crowd below chuckled; their national goddess clearly had a sense of humor.

Yi Qinglian carried on, ”I’ve come up here today to say something to someone. I don’t know if he’s here, though he’s very busy, so busy that we haven’t seen each other for some time and can only communicate by phone or WeChat.”

To speak to someone? The crowd wondered, their hearts pounding in their throats. What was Yi Qinglian up to?

Yi Qinglian smiled sweetly and said, ”Chu Hao, no matter where you are, I will wait for you. I will always keep waiting.”

”DING... Yi Qinglian’s actions have earned the Host 3,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

”DING... Yi Qinglian’s actions have earned the Host 3,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

”DING... Yi Qinglian’s actions have earned the Host 3,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

Chu Hao was startled, his jaw nearly dropping to the floor. Damn it! A triple show-off hit! Almost 10,000 Pretentiousness Points, and the King of Show-offs hadn’t even done anything!

Chu Hao didn’t understand the full implications of Yi Qinglian’s words.

She was the nation’s goddess. Countless people had eagerly watched her grow up. And just as she reached adulthood and started university, someone had captured her pure and beautiful heart with a public confession!

This is huge! he thought. Any moment now, the news will break with headlines like: ’Who is Chu Hao?’, ’SHOCKER: National Goddess Yi Qinglian Confesses Her Love!’, and so on.

So, this wave of showing off has gone global!

The entire venue fell silent for a full ten seconds, then erupted into a cacophony of shouts and screams.

”My goddess! How could you fall so easily?”

”WAHH… My middle school crush! My youth! My dreams! They’re all gone!”

”Damn it! Who is Chu Hao? Is he also at the Film Academy? We have to find him, even if we have to dig three feet deep!”

The women were even more shocked, standing as still as statues. ”Yi Qinglian... she... she confessed!”

”Who is Chu Hao, to have captivated the goddess’s heart?”

Excitement, uproar, anger, screams; the whole place was in chaos.

This showed just how important Yi Qinglian was in the eyes of these young people. Some saw her as a role model, others as a dream to chase. Some wealthy heirs had even enrolled in the Film Academy just to pursue her.

This highlighted the tremendous influence Yi Qinglian had on this generation.

Chu Hao snapped back to reality. Brother Hao really lucked out with this round of showing off; it’s all thanks to the ladies, he mused.

The middle-aged department head beside him said with a sigh, ”Who is Chu Hao? He’s remarkable... hmm… why does that name sound so familiar?”

The middle-aged department head suddenly whirled around, his gaze fixed on Chu Hao’s face. ”What did you say your name was just now?”

Chu Hao replied, ”Chu Hao.”

The middle-aged department head exclaimed, ”You’re Chu Hao?”

Chu Hao asked, puzzled, ”Is there someone else at school with the same name as me?”

The middle-aged department head scratched his head. How am I supposed to respond to that? ”No,” he said.

Chu Hao said, ”Then I’m relieved.”

The middle-aged department head stood there speechless. Seeing Chu Hao about to leave, he quickly said, ”Wait! As a new student, why are you only arriving now? Didn’t you know everyone was supposed to gather for a meeting today? And where are you off to now?”

Chu Hao turned around and said, ”Sir, I just registered today, and I urgently need to use the restroom.”

The middle-aged department head nodded. ”Alright, come to my office afterward.”

I’m a university professor, the middle-aged department head thought. Even though you’re involved with Yi Qinglian, you still need to follow the school’s rules.

Chu Hao said, ”How about one autograph, and we’ll call it even?”

The middle-aged department head unhurriedly held up two fingers. ”Two autographs. The kind you find on posters.”

”Deal.”

”Alright, you can go. Be careful on your way.”

Look at how courteous university professors can be, Chu Hao thought.

Chu Hao turned and left.

The middle-aged department head remained, chuckling to himself, ”Heh heh, now I’ll have something good to tell my daughter when I get back.”

「Later」

After Chu Hao left, he took out his phone and sent Yi Qinglian a message: ”Looks like keeping a low profile is off the table for your buddy now.”

Soon, Yi Qinglian replied, ”Where are you?”

Chu Hao texted back, ”Going to find the dorm.”

”Let’s have dinner together tonight,” Yi Qinglian sent.

”Okay.”

Putting away his phone, Chu Hao felt a warmth inside. Is this what being in love feels like? he wondered. Being confessed to by a girl... this is a first for me.

Chu Hao found the dormitory building.

A teacher arrived. He was middle-aged, with a square face and regular features. Holding a key, he unlocked the dorm room for Chu Hao and said, ”You’ve been assigned to Dorm 604.”

”Thank you, sir.”

The teacher said, ”Make sure to attend classes on time tomorrow. Here’s your course schedule.”

The courses at the Film Academy were completely different from high school. They primarily involved performance arts, and class schedules were mostly staggered.

Upon entering the dorm, Chu Hao looked at the empty beds; he had nothing in his hands. The teacher, puzzled, asked, ”Didn’t you bring any luggage?”

”I didn’t. I plan to buy things here.”

The teacher nodded, gave a few more instructions, and then left.

After a while, his roommates finally returned.

They had just come from the freshman assembly. But now, they all looked dispirited; the three young men were quite dejected.

A slightly chubby guy lamented, ”How could this happen?”

”Nothing more to say. This bro’s heartbroken. Let’s go drinking.”

The three of them entered the dorm and saw Chu Hao. The slightly chubby guy smiled and said, ”Hey man, you finally showed up!”

Four people to a dorm. Chu Hao hadn’t appeared until today, but now he was finally here.

Chu Hao nodded; these three would be his roommates from now on.

The three introduced themselves. The chubby one was Feng Gao, from the directing department.

The skinny one was Teng Jin, a screenwriter. Judging by his dark circles, it was clear he often stayed glued to a computer screen.

The last one, Lin Zhou, was tall, handsome, and impeccably dressed, carrying an aristocratic air that made him seem perfect for the screen.

Feng Gao, from the directing department, said enthusiastically, ”Brother, we’re dormmates from now on! We’ll be living together for four years, so let’s look out for each other.”

Chu Hao nodded. ”Okay.”

Teng Jin said, ”We still don’t know your name.”

These two guys were quite enthusiastic. Only Lin Zhou seemed a bit aloof.

”Chu Hao. The ’Chu’ is the same as in King Chu, and the ’Hao’ means something like ’vast and righteous spirit.’”

However, when Chu Hao stated his name, the three guys opposite him were immediately stunned.

They were all too familiar with that name. Because of it, an uproar had nearly broken out at the freshman assembly earlier, and it had taken a group of security guards to calm things down.

Feng Gao said in shock, ”You... you’re Chu Hao?!”

Teng Jin said in a daze, ”You’re Yi Qinglian’s boyfriend?”

Lin Zhou stared intensely at Chu Hao. If looks could kill, Chu Hao would have died a million times over.
