Ghost Catching System

Walking out of the school, Bai Ling was still there. She asked indifferently, ”How did the test go?”

Why do you sound like you’re my parent? Chu Hao wondered.

”Not bad, I guess.”

Bai Ling looked at Star Dream High School and said, ”This academy is not bad. I heard from Little Wang that after the college entrance exam, you can go to university to learn more advanced knowledge. What university do you plan to apply to?”

Chu Hao looked towards Wang Qing, somewhat baffled.

Wang Qing was also helpless, as he didn’t dare speak when Bai Ling asked questions.

Chu Hao said hesitantly, ”Film University.”

Bai Ling nodded slightly and said, ”I will go to university with you to learn the knowledge of this era.”

Chu Hao and Wang Qing were instantly thunderstruck and utterly exasperated. They had thought they could use the guise of studying to keep their distance from Bai Ling, only for her to come out with, ”I will go to university with you.”!

You’ve got to be kidding me!

Is she trying to ruin *me*? Your very own Brother Hao? Chu Hao despaired internally.

Chu Hao quickly said, ”To go to university, you need to have completed nine-year compulsory education. You can’t attend university without taking the exams. Besides, you don’t know anything right now, how can you attend university?”

Wang Qing quickly said, ”Exactly.”

It’s got to be a joke, right? Letting the Heavenly Bone Woman go to the Imperial Capital? That would be total chaos! Her just being in Anli City is enough to give the Seventh District a headache, Wang Qing thought in alarm.

”I have my ways,” said Bai Ling.

I feel like crying! What kind of demoness have I gotten myself stuck with? She’s like super glue, impossible to shake off! Chu Hao lamented.

Wang Qing whispered, ”Master Chu, you can’t let her go to the Imperial Capital.”

Chu Hao snapped, ”Then you tell me, what can I do?”

Wang Qing fell silent, then said, ”How about you attend a local university?”

”Forget it! The Imperial Capital Film Academy is my dream.”

Wang Qing was also at a loss. Both of them were great masters; he couldn’t afford to provoke Bai Ling, and he didn’t want to provoke Chu Hao either. What a headache.

...

The college entrance exam that followed lasted for three days. Bai Ling appeared on the first day but not on the second. Wang Qing had reportedly found her numerous tutors, and she was studying at the villa.

Chu Hao was so frustrated. Do all ancient people love to study so much? It was Diao Chan before, now it’s Bai Ling’s turn.

Of course, all of that is nothing, Chu Hao thought. If Bai Ling actually goes to university with me, then I’m really done for!

Today was the last day of the college entrance exam, and Li Yin, that kid, seemed to have done quite well, babbling on to Chu Hao for a while.

Li Yin asked cautiously, ”Um, where is your Sister Bai Ling?”

Chu Hao replied irritably, ”Miss her, do you? She’s at the villa, go hang out with her.”

Li Yin shook his head repeatedly and said, ”Brother Hao, you haven’t really conquered her, have you?”

Chu Hao said, ”Heh... I’d actually like to ’conquer’ her. This enchantress is too powerful; I bet even missiles can’t kill her now.”

Li Yin swallowed hard and said, ”Brother Hao, best of luck to you.”

As the two passed by the school gates, a middle-aged man stopped them, saying, ”Young lads, rushing for the college entrance exam? If you’re not in a hurry, this old Taoist would like to do a reading for you.”

Chu Hao looked at the middle-aged man who seemed to be in his fifties, dressed in a Taoist robe, with an unkempt appearance.

The Taoist said again, ”I am a descendant of the Heaven Master Tao. Judging by your physiognomy, you seem to be having a rough time with this college entrance exam. Let me do a reading for you to dissolve the bad luck, guaranteeing you a smooth path to the university of your dreams.”

Chu Hao and Li Yin glanced sideways at the Taoist. This guy was divining right next to the school.

Li Yin’s face was cold as he said, ”Old man, do you know whose turf this is? Daring to come here to practice divination.”

The Taoist was also confused and asked, ”Whose turf is it?”

Li Yin pointed at Chu Hao and said, ”This is my Brother Hao’s turf, the legendary King of Hexagrams. You’re stealing a job, stealing it right from under my big brother’s nose?”

The old Taoist was speechless and looked at Chu Hao, asking, ”Young man, are you in the same trade?”

Chu Hao nodded slightly.

The Taoist snorted and said, ”Stop kidding, how could someone your age possibly know hexagrams? Instead, it’s me, the old Taoist, who can see that this young friend here is in for a period of bloodshed and extreme bad luck.”

Chu Hao sized up the Taoist and asked, ”What do you mean by that?”

Indeed, I have been unlucky since encountering the Heavenly Bone Woman, Chu Hao thought. I can perform divination for myself, but I want to see what this old Taoist has to say.

”Throw the copper coins on the ground, and I’ll help you see,” the old Taoist said.

Curious about his tricks, Chu Hao threw the copper coins on the ground.

The old Taoist picked them up, looked at them, and said solemnly, ”Young man, you are afflicted by a Killing Star.”

Chu Hao narrowed his eyes and said calmly, ”Old man, stop pretending. Who sent you here?”

The old Taoist chuckled and said, ”I can’t hide it from young friend Chu. Indeed, I am a descendant of Heaven Master Tao, and it’s been quite difficult to meet with you alone.”

With Bai Ling around, the people from Longhu Mountain dared not show up openly. Having finally found a good opportunity to interact with Chu Hao, they took their chance.

Heaven Master Tao is from Longhu Mountain, but its descendants have a more orthodox lineage than the Longhu Mountain disciples. It is said that there are only two or three in each generation. This person could very well be the leader of Longhu Mountain or another extremely important figure.

”I have a method that can suppress the Heavenly Bone Woman. Would you like to try it out, young friend Chu?” the old Taoist offered.

Chu Hao was intrigued and asked, ”What method?”

The Taoist whispered, ”According to the records of our ancestor, there’s only one way to deal with the Heavenly Bone Woman, and that’s the Transforming Immortal Stone, her nemesis.”

The Transforming Immortal Stone! Chu Hao thought. That’s a legendary divine object. It’s even listed in the System shop, but that price... well!

Unable to contain his excitement, Chu Hao asked, ”Do you have the Transforming Immortal Stone?”

The old Taoist shook his head. ”I don’t.”

Chu Hao said angrily, ”Are you messing with me?”

The Taoist replied, ”Hear me out, young friend Chu. Although I don’t have the Transforming Immortal Stone, I know where it is. If you find it, you can get rid of the Heavenly Bone Woman. Aren’t you tempted?”

Of course, I’m tempted! Chu Hao thought.

”Where is it?”

The Taoist smiled faintly and said, ”It’s in the hands of the Equal King in the North Yin Fengdu of the Underworld.”

Chu Hao waved his hand dismissively and said, ”Do you think I’m an idiot? To go and ask the Equal King for the Transforming Immortal Stone is to court death, isn’t it?”

The old Taoist said cheerfully, ”How could that be! It seems you’ve encountered a tough problem this time, young friend Chu. It’s related to your future prospects, and once you’re rid of the Heavenly Bone Woman, you’ll be free and easy again.”

Chu Hao stroked his chin and said, ”Old man, do you really think I’m foolish? The Heavenly Bone Woman is actually your Longhu Mountain’s real enemy, right? The founder of Longhu Mountain sealed her away. Tell me, who do you think she’ll trouble first?”

At these words, the old Taoist’s expression turned exceptionally grim.

Chu Hao’s words were spot-on; ever since the appearance of the Heavenly Bone Woman, Longhu Mountain had been in a terrible fix.

Chu Hao said gleefully, ”I’m doing pretty well right now, but it seems you guys have a big problem. If I were you, I’d say it would be best for you to look for the Transforming Immortal Stone yourselves.”

I thought I could deceive Chu Hao, the old Taoist mused, but this kid is even smarter than I imagined.

The old Taoist laughed heartily and said, ”You’re right, young friend Chu. How about we join forces?”

Chu Hao turned to leave, not even bothering to acknowledge him further, and waved his hand as he said, ”Joining forces with me? You’re not worthy. Come back after you’ve found the Transforming Immortal Stone.”

”DING… Host has successfully shown off, gaining 900 Pretentiousness Points.”
