Ghost Catching System

What happens when a person loses their Three Souls and Seven Spirits?

Fang Jingxue speculated, ”Without consciousness, it would just be a soulless body, like a vegetative state?”

Elder Yuan confirmed, ”Exactly. Qi Zhongyu wants to gamble with Chu Hao’s life.”

Fang Jingxue gasped, her previous excitement turning into worry.

For Chu Hao, Fang Jingxue felt a sense of admiration, not romantic love. She saw him as the mentor who had introduced her to this line of work; he was her mentor for life. If anything happened to him, how could she bear it!

Fang Jingxue clenched her fists tightly, her gaze toward Qi Zhongyu filled with hostility.

Not far away, Li Yin cursed, ”Is this son of a bitch’s conspiracy finally happening? Brother Hao, you must not agree to it!”

Mu Yuxun was also very nervous. She knew clearly this was a trap; Chu Hao ought to avoid it, right?

Yet, Chu Hao, still acting cool, said indifferently, ”Then let’s compete in soul sealing.”

Everyone: ”...”

Those who cared for him almost collapsed. Brother Hao, you truly fear nothing!

Qi Zhongyu revealed a sinister smile. Even though Qiu Shanyezi had told Chu Hao about his conspiracy, it no longer mattered. As long as Chu Hao agreed, that was all that mattered.

Qi Zhongyu declared, ”Then let’s begin!”

As he spoke, Qi Zhongyu’s men brought over a black altar. The words ”Seal Devil” were inscribed on top of it in a very ancient seal script.

A ferocious look appeared on Qi Zhongyu’s delicate face. He had been miserably harmed by Chu Hao earlier. Although his severed middle finger could be reattached, the ten years of life he had offered to the deity were irrevocable.

”Chu Hao, your time of death has arrived.”

Qi Zhongyu knelt on both knees, prostrating himself on the ground before the altar, and prayed, ”O great Yin and Yang Emperor above, your disciple beseeches you: Seize the soul, seal away the Three Souls and Seven Spirits, seal all living things of nature.”

As he spoke, he tore off the yellow talisman from the top of the altar, and an eerie coldness emanated from within, as if an enormous hand was enveloping Chu Hao.

System notification: ”AA grade mission triggered: Defeat the demon in the Seal Devil Altar and save the souls of all beings.”

”Complete the mission, reward: 60,000 Merit Points.”

”Complete the mission, reward: 2,000,000 Experience Points.”

Chu Hao was startled, then became excited. Finally, a mission has arrived! There’s a demon inside the Seal Devil Altar.

The Seal Devil Altar then stirred up a gloomy whirlwind, and a powerful storm swept across the entire basketball court.

Some people immediately collapsed, unconscious. Their Three Souls and Seven Spirits had been sucked away.

The Seal Devil Altar wasn’t just targeting Chu Hao—it targeted everyone present.

Had the Seal Devil Altar gone out of control?

Qi Zhongyu was also shocked. He had never imagined the Seal Devil Altar would go haywire, and now filthy things were drifting out from within it.

They were three to four meters tall, resembling demons from Hell, with terrifying appearances, long tongues lolling out, sharp maws and fangs, greyish long hair, and wielding large scissors in their hands.

These filthy creatures were huge. One grabbed a person, who then realized in terror they were paralyzed. Why can’t I move?!

Next, the filthy creature snipped with its scissors. SNIP! The person’s shadow was severed. With a tug, the creature grasped the person’s Three Souls and Seven Spirits in its hand, and the person instantly fell unconscious.

Qi Zhongyu came to his senses. He had brought the Seal Devil Altar from the Dwarf Kingdom, but he himself was not very clear about its specific abilities and functions.

However, there was a legend associated with the Seal Devil Altar.

In the ancient times of Yamato Country, the Seal Devil Altar had been unearthed from an ancient tomb. When the altar was accidentally opened, demons surged out and continuously collected the souls of people, turning them into slaves of the altar.

It is said that the Seal Devil Altar once endangered an ancient small country.

This was not some Yin and Yang secret treasure, but rather a very powerful evil artifact.

As for the person who had instructed Qi Zhongyu to bring this evil artifact, they harbored treacherous intentions: to unleash it upon Huaxia Country and harm the people of Huaxia!

Having realized all this, Qi Zhongyu was not afraid, but rather incredibly excited.

The Zhong, Yu, Yin, Yang Family is finally making its move against Huaxia Country! he thought, his excitement growing.

Qi Zhongyu laughed loudly, ”Chu Hao, I’d like to see what you’re going to do!”

Those devil-like filthy things cut off one soul after another. Everyone witnessing this scene fled in panic, but it was to no avail. Whenever those sharp-mouthed, fanged devils captured someone, they would snip away their Three Souls and Seven Spirits and drag them into the Seal Devil Altar.

The people of the Seventh District cried out in alarm. They were powerless to stop it. Indeed, quite a few among them were grabbed by the devils and pulled into the Seal Devil Altar.

All they had to do was snip a person’s shadow to seize their Three Souls and Seven Spirits!

The scene was chaotic. Chu Hao’s expression turned cold as he angrily said, ”You dare to run amok in my great Huaxia? You’ve really got some nerve.”

With a wave of his hand, he released Zhao Yun and Zhang Fei.

The two Ghost Generals were far stronger than before. Zhao Yun, in particular, was now a max-level Ghost General. With his Long Spear in hand, Zhao Yun struck. In an instant, a devil from the Seal Devil Altar was pierced and reduced to dust.

Zhang Fei was even more ferocious. He charged forward and tore one apart with his bare hands, a display of incredible might.

Despite this, many were still captured and dragged into the Seal Devil Altar. From deep within it, a chilling, strange laugh echoed.

A head with an ugly and terrifying ghost face, sharp mouth and fangs, full of the aura of Ghost Demons—that was the devil of the Seal Devil Altar!

Chu Hao recognized at a glance that this thing was an Evil Spirit.

So-called Evil Spirits differ from ghosts and goblins. The primary distinction is their method of birth.

An Evil Spirit might be a dry well which, because someone died in it and resentment festered year after year, gave birth to a well demon that swallows people.

Or it could be a mirror that bewitches the heart, driving you to murder.

These are all Evil Spirits, born in myriad and bizarre ways, but without a doubt, they share a common feature: before becoming an Evil Spirit, they must have inhabited common items, such as a comb, a cup, a bucket, or even a stone.

The Seal Devil Altar consumes people’s souls to turn them into its slaves.

This thing was definitely a weapon of mass destruction. If unleashed in a major city, who knows how many people would die?

Chu Hao charged forward, and the Evil Spirit shrank back, just like a tortoise.

Chu Hao shouted, ”If you’ve got the guts, don’t hide! Come out and fight!”

The altar must not be broken. Those whose Three Souls and Seven Spirits have been sucked away might never return, forever sealed in another space if it shatters.

The Seal Devil Altar was ancient and had developed a terrifying intelligence. Its response to Chu Hao was to release a large number of Scissor Ghosts, which charged at him.

These Scissor Ghosts weren’t very strong, but their bodies were quite large, resembling white cloths. They rushed at Chu Hao with strange laughs; if they managed to catch and snip a shadow, it would be very troublesome.

But who was Chu Hao?!

With his right hand, he condensed a Sword Finger Talisman. With his current skills, the speed at which he conjured the Sword Finger Talisman was extremely fast, and its power was considerable. With one point of his finger, a Scissor Ghost didn’t even have time to scream before it was instantly reduced to ash.

DING! ”For killing the Scissor Ghost, you have gained 50,000 Experience Points.”

Those Scissor Ghosts were frightening, but their true strength was very weak, not even reaching the Dark Killing Ghost Level.

Chu Hao said disdainfully, ”And here I thought you were something formidable. Wait till I exterminate this trash, then I’ll go in and take care of you.”
