Ghost Catching System

The Scissor Ghost slit open its abdomen, much like a Japanese samurai committing seppuku. Its withered, fierce hand reached into its abdomen and pulled out something wrapped in blood-caked filaments. This object was bound by iron chains and connected to the Scissor Ghost.

Seeing this, Chu Hao’s heart began to pound wildly.

The Scissor Ghost snapped the iron chains, and it instantly collapsed, appearing lifeless. The object wrapped in blood-caked filaments also rolled to the ground.

The clump of blood-caked filaments began to wriggle. It tore open, and a pale hand stretched out.

It was a human hand, one that might have been quite beautiful if not for its deathly pallor. The figure within the blood-caked filaments slowly rose to its feet.

It was a woman with a pale face and long, disheveled gray hair that billowed defiantly, like an otherworldly witch.

Especially her eyes—dead white, like a fish’s—were a sight that sent shivers down one’s spine. This woman had clearly been sealed away for too long and was now in a state of weakness.

However, one could not judge her by appearances alone. She emanated an extremely terrifying malevolent aura that seemed to warp the very space around her.

Chu Hao was also startled. What was this woman’s background? How could she have been inside the giant Scissor Ghost? She had just been released and was still shackled with iron chains—clearly, she had been trapped.

Chu Hao used Appraisal. Instantly, cold sweat beaded on his forehead. Despite her apparent weakness, the eerie woman had a combat power of 25,000.

”This is a rip-off!” Chu Hao cursed.

System Notification: ”AA-grade mission updated, upgraded to an S-grade mission: Seal the Ghost Prisoner or kill the Ghost Prisoner.”

”Complete the sealing mission to earn 100,000 Merit Points.”

”Complete the sealing mission to receive 5,000,000 Experience Points.”

”Complete the sealing mission to receive one Diamond Treasure Chest.”

If the sealing mission was this rewarding, what about killing her?

”Complete the killing mission to earn 300,000 Merit Points.”

”Complete the killing mission to receive 10,000,000 Experience Points.”

”Complete the killing mission to receive three Diamond Treasure Chests.”

Chu Hao was utterly dumbfounded. An S-grade mission! The rewards were incredibly generous. Just the sealing mission rivaled the grade of the Mysterious Lady’s missions. How terrifying was this Ghost Prisoner’s true strength?

The Ghost Prisoner must have just been unsealed and appeared weakened. If I attack now, there might be a chance. But if she recovers, killing her will be almost impossible.

With this in mind, Chu Hao gripped the Ritian Stick and said, ”Zhao Yun, take the others and leave first. Zhang Fei and I will stay and see if we can kill her.”

Zhao Yun nodded and led the group of souls away from the Seal Devil Altar.

Chu Hao took a deep breath. He purchased a pill that restored Mana Points, swallowed it, and said, ”Zhang Fei, encircle her! We attack with our full strength!”

Zhang Fei brandished his Serpent Spear and said, ”Yes, my lord.”

Zhang Fei was the first to charge. He activated his skill, Fierce God, increasing his strength by fifty percent. Even though he wasn’t a max-level Ghost General, his power was not to be underestimated.

Then, he activated his third skill: Xuanwu Soul.

Golden armor materialized on Zhang Fei’s body—the Xuanwu Armor. It possessed extremely strong defensive power and significantly boosted his strength. Even if Zhao Yun were to battle him now, he would likely struggle.

”Kill!”

Zhang Fei, the adversary of ten thousand, charged forward. His Serpent Spear viciously stabbed towards the Ghost Prisoner’s head.

The Ghost Prisoner looked up, her dead, fish-like white eyes fixed on Zhang Fei. Anyone else might have been intimidated by her stare, but this was Zhang Fei.

Fearlessly, he struck.

The Ghost Prisoner raised her hand to block. Her seemingly soft flesh was as tough as steel. Zhang Fei felt his spear strike solid metal.

CLANG!

The sound of metal clashing echoed as violent power fluctuations rippled outward. The Ghost Prisoner managed to block the blow, but Zhang Fei’s strength was so terrifying that she was sent flying. She crashed into a large boulder, shattering it.

Chu Hao watched, shocked. This creature was unexpectedly tough!

Not to be outdone, Chu Hao lifted the Ritian Stick and smashed it down fiercely.

The Ghost Prisoner dodged with a swift movement. The rocks behind her were instantly smashed to pieces by the Ritian Stick.

The Ghost Prisoner licked her lips, her dead, white eyes fixing on Chu Hao as if he were a delicious meal.

Chu Hao felt his scalp tingle under her gaze.

BOOM!

Zhang Fei’s attack missed, his spear blasting the ground where the Ghost Prisoner had just stood. She was extremely fast, evading his strike and pouncing towards Chu Hao.

”My lord, be careful!”

Even without Zhang Fei’s warning, Chu Hao had already lifted the Ritian Stick and was smashing it down hard.

Suddenly, the pupils in the Ghost Prisoner’s dead, fish-like eyes morphed into the shape of Magatama.

The Ritian Stick in Chu Hao’s hand faltered for a moment, and the Ghost Prisoner landed a kick squarely on his chest.

Instantly, Chu Hao felt as if a car had violently struck him, sending him flying more than ten meters. Fortunately, his physique was robust. Anyone else would have been meeting Yama by now.

Chu Hao used the Ritian Stick to support himself as he stood up. Wincing from the sharp pain in his chest, he cursed, ”This thing actually has blood wheel eyes!”

Of course, these weren’t the blood wheel eyes from anime. Her white pupils had just transformed into two Magatama shapes, and his body had instantly become immobile, as if bound by chains.

Chu Hao feared death more than anything. For the first time, he felt it so near, and a chill of fear crept into his heart.

Chu Hao asked, ”System, how do we kill this thing?”

System: ”It is recommended that the Host purchase the Bagua Soul Refining Scripture, which requires 30,000 Pretentiousness Points. Of course, this applies only while she is in her weakened state. Her strength is far from its peak recovery. It will be a different matter entirely if she returns to her full power.”

What a rip-off! Brother Hao only has 16,000 Pretentiousness Points right now!

Zhang Fei was repeatedly sent flying. If not for the Xuanwu Armor, he would have been seriously injured by now. Even so, he couldn’t take much more.

Rubbing his chest, Zhang Fei cursed, ”Damned ghost, I will fight you to the death!”

Zhang Fei lived up to his reputation as an adversary of ten thousand. At the critical moment, he unleashed his full potential and began to hold his own against the Ghost Prisoner.

Even so, the Ghost Prisoner’s strength was not to be underestimated. Knowing the System’s usual tendencies, her power was definitely greater than this.

Hurriedly, Chu Hao said, ”Zhang Fei, retreat!”

Zhang Fei was very reluctant. If only I were at max level, or had surpassed the Ghost General Level, wouldn’t dealing with this Ghost Prisoner be a piece of cake?

However, he was currently no match for her. Retreat was the only option.

Seeing Chu Hao and Zhang Fei flee, the Ghost Prisoner didn’t pursue. The two Magatama in her eyes reverted to normal. She uttered an ancient phrase, completely unintelligible.

But one could feel the profound hatred she harbored.

「They escaped from the Seal Devil Altar.」

Chu Hao returned to his physical body. He opened his eyes and immediately spat out a mouthful of blood.

Li Yin, Teacher Qiu, and Qiu Shanyezi, who had already awakened, were shocked to see Chu Hao vomit blood.

Qiu Xueying asked anxiously, ”Chu Hao, what’s wrong with you?”

Chu Hao rubbed his chest. Back in his physical body, the searing pain he had felt earlier flared up again. ”I’m fine,” he said, gritting his teeth.

Old Yuan hurried over, asking anxiously, ”Master Chu, what’s the situation?”

Chu Hao’s expression was grim. ”Evacuate the crowd,” he said, his voice strained. ”The entity inside is extremely difficult to handle.”

Old Yuan was startled.
