Ghost Catching System

If Du Ziwen didn’t reincarnate, he would definitely become a Wandering Wild Ghost, and his situation would be even more miserable by then.

Chu Hao said, ”We’ll be arriving at the station soon. Say goodbye to your mother.”

The mother and son wept sorrowfully. The middle-aged woman was deeply grateful to Chu Hao for allowing her to see her son one last time; she would likely live with this regret for the rest of her life.

After getting off the high-speed train, they went to Luo Yan’s home.

Meanwhile, at the edge of the Yin and Yang Realm, a passage led into a dark and icy abyss, its deepest extents invisible.

In this chaotic place stood a massive stone gate inscribed with three large words: Ghost Gate Pass. The characters were majestic and forceful, exuding an imposing aura. This was the Ghost Gate Pass, the portal between Yin and Yang.

Countless Wandering Wild Ghosts wailed mournfully every night, as if beseeching the heavens for a chance to enter the Ghost Gate Pass and be reincarnated.

However, a certain power at the Ghost Gate Pass obstructed these myriad Wandering Wild Ghosts.

The number of Wandering Wild Ghosts was far too great, amounting to hundreds of billions accumulated from ancient times to the present. It wasn’t just humans; any being with life possessed a soul. After death, they would make their way to the Ghost Gate Pass at least once. They piled up into mountains of bones amidst ceaseless screams and howls—an unthinkable number for even the Underworld to handle all at once.

As the saying goes, ”Heaven has the virtue of cherishing life,” so there was always a glimmer of hope.

Wandering Wild Ghosts could find substitutes to seize other ghosts’ chances of reincarnation. At the edges of the Ghost Gate Pass, many Ghost Officiants led ghosts eligible for reincarnation; this was the opportunity the wild ghosts sought.

But the Ghost Officiants carried Ghost-Suppressing Tokens, preventing the wild ghosts from getting close. Thus, the wild ghosts could only roam year after year, searching for the perfect opportunity.

The Tall Guy, a Ghost Officiant, had fled to the edge of the Ghost Gate Pass.

The Tall Guy was scared out of his wits. Shorty had been beaten to dust, and if he himself hadn’t escaped quickly enough, he figured he would have been done for as well.

For a Yin Yang Master to kill a Ghost Officiant was a severe crime in the Underworld. However, the Tall Guy and Shorty had struck first, coveting the Taisui Meat in Chu Hao’s hands. If the higher-ups found out, not only would their actions not be avenged, but he would also be punished. The Tall Guy hesitated, not daring to speak of Shorty’s death.

”No! Shorty was my brother, and I must have revenge!” the Tall Guy declared, his eyes turning bloodshot.

Not far away, two other Ghost Officiants appeared, leading a row of Yin Souls. The Tall Guy immediately had an idea.

You just wait! I’ll find a Ghost Officiant to take care of you! the Tall Guy thought, his expression incredibly ferocious.

”Gao Jingshou, what are you doing here?” asked one of the two, a female Ghost Officiant with a foot-long tongue and white-gray eyes.

Gao Jingshou replied with a hollow smile, ”Just got back.”

The other was a male Ghost Officiant with a dark face, also possessing a foot-long tongue. These two were a couple in the Underworld.

The female Ghost Officiant, Niu Liushui, asked, ”Where’s Shorty? The one who’s always with you.”

”He’s busy with something,” Gao Jingshou said.

”Ma Gaoshan, Niu Liushui, I heard that both of your cultivation levels are almost at a bottleneck,” Gao Jingshou then said.

Ma Gaoshan, the dark-faced Ghost Officiant, glared, his long tongue lolling as he spoke thickly, ”You know and you still say it? Are you looking for a beating?”

Gao Jingshou waved his hand. ”I know a way that can improve both of your cultivation levels. After it’s done, just give me half the reward.”

Upon hearing this, the eyes of Ma Gaoshan and Niu Liushui suddenly brightened.

In the Underworld, exchanging for cultivation treasures required Merit Points, but Merit Points were hard to earn.

If they could break through their cultivation levels, their status in the Underworld would rise by a rank. Then, they could command the wind and rain, lead a carefree life, and no longer have to perform the grueling work of soul-reaping in the Yang Realm.

”What way?” Niu Liushui asked.

Gao Jingshou said mysteriously, ”When I went to reap souls, I saw a Yin Yang Master. He has Taisui Meat on him.”

”What? Taisui Meat?”

The two Ghost Officiants were aghast. They exchanged looks, seeing the excitement in each other’s eyes.

Niu Liushui asked cautiously, ”Gao Jingshou, why would you be so kind? As far as I know, you and Shorty also need Taisui Meat, right?”

Gao Jingshou had already prepared his response. ”I’ve been fed up with Shorty for a while and don’t want to be on the same team anymore. Once I get promoted, I’ve decided to go solo and find a partner, just like you two. Wouldn’t that be carefree and joyful?”

Hearing this, the two Ghost Officiants thought, Makes sense, Old Tie.

Gao Jingshou added, ”That Yin Yang Master’s skills are quite formidable. I’m afraid I can’t handle him alone, which is why I invited you two to team up, right?”

Niu Liushui and Ma Gaoshan conferred privately for a moment. Then, Ma Gaoshan, his words slightly garbled by his long tongue, said, ”Alright. Lead the way.”

Gao Jingshou was ecstatic. Shorty, brother, I’ve avenged you! he thought.

Longxi City was so named because of a very long river, the Longxi River, which flowed into the motherland’s Yellow River.

The Longxi River covered the entire city center, and photographs taken with drones made it look like a dragon wrapping around the urban area.

Zhang Qun was very polite, insisting that his driver take Chu Hao and Luo Yan, but they both refused.

”Master Chu, I’ll take my leave then. I have important matters to attend to,” Zhang Qun said.

”Go ahead with your business,” Chu Hao replied.

After they left the high-speed train station, a silver Audi arrived to pick up Luo Yan.

A tall woman emerged from the car. She wore sunglasses, but one could vaguely discern her smooth, oval face, giving her the air of an affluent lady.

”Naughty girl, you finally decided to come back?”

Luo Yan giggled. ”Mom.”

”Mom?”

Chu Hao was a bit stunned. This tall woman, who looks to be about thirty-five or thirty-six, is Luo Yan’s mother?

Holy shit! Are they mother and daughter? They look more like sisters!

”Yan Yan, who is this?”

Luo Yan’s mother removed her sunglasses. She was a beautiful, well-maintained lady who bore a resemblance to Luo Yan and didn’t look close to fifty at all.

Luo Yan giggled. ”Him? He’s my little lover.”

Awesome! My lady. Chu Hao thought.

He felt a bit embarrassed. How could she say that in front of her family? Did this mean she’d already decided on me?

Then Luo Yan’s mother laughed. ”Oh! Another piece of ’young fresh meat,’ huh? Just don’t play around too much.”

Chu Hao was speechless. Say that one more time, and Brother Hao will make you regret it! How did I become a plaything?

These two, mother and daughter, are cut from the same cloth, Chu Hao thought. Luo Yan is quite sly, and her mother is sly too—it’s clearly hereditary!

Luo Yan giggled. ”Mom, he’s the Feng Shui Master I hired.”

Luo Yan’s mother nodded. ”Master, we were just teasing. Please don’t take it to heart.”

Chu Hao waved his hand. ”It’s okay, I like to joke around too.”

Luo Yan’s mother smiled softly, looking just like Luo Yan. ”Then I’m relieved. Master, do you have time tonight? Come with your ’older sister’ and look at the stars.”

Seriously?! She’s starting to flirt with me already? And calling herself ’sister’? Damn, she’s good at this game! Chu Hao thought.

He felt rather overwhelmed; he really was becoming their plaything.

Luo Yan reproached her, ”Mom, stop teasing Master Chu! He’s still very young and shouldn’t be corrupted.”

Uh... I think I’m quite willing to be corrupted... Chu Hao mused.
