Ghost Catching System

”Do you think I’m easy to bully?”

Gao Yuzhen, having been kicked, clutched his stomach in excruciating pain. He pointed at Chu Hao, unable to utter a word.

The group of security guards felt helpless. Gao Yuzhen was indeed acting like a mad dog, lashing out at everyone.

One of the older security guards said, ”Young man, we must take a look at her wooden box.”

Chu Hao replied coldly, ”Those are her son’s ashes. Don’t say I didn’t warn you; her son is right here. Anyone who touches her is probably done for.”

Zhang Qun and Luo Yan’s hair stood on end. Could there really be ghosts on this high-speed train? Impossible, right? Could we have encountered two lunatics today?

Gao Yuzhen, having been kicked, was furious and desperately wanted to regain face, but he was alone here.

”You just wait!” he snarled before leaving, seething with anger.

Chu Hao didn’t even spare him a glance.

He walked over to the blood-covered body. The person’s face was covered in scratch marks, self-inflicted due to the unbearable torment of the Gu insects.

The soul of the deceased was still within the body. In cases of unexpected death, especially for those who had recently passed, souls generally don’t accept their own demise until a Ghost Officiant arrives. Only then do they believe.

System, purchase Resurrection Powder, Chu Hao thought.

”DING... Host has purchased Resurrection Powder, consuming 100 Show-off Points.”

Isn’t it just to make a dead person speak? System, your pricing is rather unscrupulous, Chu Hao grumbled internally.

The System responded: ”Pretentious Expert, your ability to show off is being tested. Furthermore, everything in the store has been fully upgraded, offering excellent quality at a low price.”

I despise you. Such high fees, yet you claim ’excellent quality at a low price,’ Chu Hao retorted silently.

The System: ”Host, you are a fool. You’ll understand once you use it.”

Sooner or later, I’m going to turn your cold, mechanical voice into a woman’s seductive moan, Chu Hao vowed.

The System: ”...”

After retorting to the System, Chu Hao took out the Resurrection Powder.

Resurrection Powder: Effective on the recently deceased, temporarily returning the soul to the body for three minutes.

The Resurrection Powder looked like a packet of white flour, which he sprinkled over the corpse.

Instantly, everyone smelled a fragrant aroma, like wheat flour.

The crowd was puzzled, wondering what he was doing.

Then, they witnessed an incredible scene.

The corpse began to tremble. After it absorbed the Resurrection Powder, its skin shimmered, and suddenly, its eyes snapped open.

”AAAHH!!” The crowd screamed.

”DING... Host performed a Scary Show Off, earning 200 Show-off Points.”

Displaying the air of a master, Chu Hao announced, ”Everyone, do not be afraid. It is I, the Taoist Master, who has temporarily resurrected him.”

Resurrection! My goodness, he could actually bring a corpse back to life! How incredible was that?

The man’s blood-covered face looked terrifying. Chu Hao asked, ”Who killed you?”

The corpse spoke in a trembling voice, ”Am I dead?”

Chu Hao nodded. ”You are dead, but we want to know who the murderer is.”

”I don’t know,” the corpse shivered.

Chu Hao frowned. This guy is truly unlucky, killed without even knowing by whom. People affected by Sorcery really do die in a daze.

”Please, save me! I don’t want to die!” the corpse pleaded desperately.

Chu Hao shook his head. ”Once you’re dead, just go and reincarnate. Maybe you’ll get to be human again.”

The corpse’s expression turned fierce, its eyes became bloodshot, and its complexion started turning green. ”I’ll give you money, as much as you want! Just save me!” it pleaded.

Chu Hao glanced at it. It’s about to turn into a Corpse Demon.

”It’s better for you to reincarnate,” Chu Hao said, conjuring a Talisman in his palm and pressing it onto the corpse’s forehead. The body convulsed and then fell stiffly.

Looking around, the expressions of the nearby people shifted from fright to disbelief.

”He’s a real master!” someone exclaimed.

Chu Hao found it a bit strange. Wasn’t that just a stroke of luck? Was that all?

”Master, is he... is he dead?” a middle-aged security guard asked, his voice filled with extreme fear, no longer looking at Chu Hao as if he were insane.

”He’s dead,” Chu Hao confirmed.

As Chu Hao was pondering this, he suddenly saw two figures appear behind the security guard: a tall one and a short one, stumbling along as if drugged.

Soul-reaping Ghost Officiants! Chu Hao was astonished; it was his first time seeing Ghost Officiants. The tall and short pair looked quite comical.

Tall Guy was lanky with very noticeable dark circles under his eyes, looking as if he hadn’t eaten in seven days and a gust of wind could topple him.

Shorty was quite fat, round and chubby like a meatball. Tall Guy, the skinny Ghost Officiant, picked his nose and said, ”There have been way too many deaths these days; we can hardly keep up.”

Shorty added in a booming voice, ”Still complaining? It’s great that some order has been restored in the Underworld and there’s work to do. You don’t know, but a fellow Ghost Officiant from my shift has no work and no Merit Points. Even if he reincarnates, he’ll just end up as a pig.”

”Sigh... Merit Points are so hard to earn these days. When will we ever save up enough to reincarnate into a rich family?”

”Take it slow. After all, the Underworld has only just regained some vitality, right?”

Suddenly, Shorty noticed another ghost. ”Huh! There’s an Evil Ghost over there.”

The Evil Ghost Shorty mentioned was, of course, the middle-aged woman’s son. She was holding his urn.

Her son was right there in the first-class cabin.

Tall Guy said sarcastically, ”Let’s not bother with him. This kind of Evil Ghost has a hard time reincarnating. Before long, he’ll turn into one of the Wandering Wild Ghosts. Let’s just grab the soul and go; I need to get back to my card game.”

Hearing the conversation between the two Ghost Officiants, Chu Hao was quite surprised.

Should I go over and say hello? After all, I’m part of the Yin-Yang Realm, and interacting with entities like Ghost Officiants is bound to happen, he pondered.

Before Chu Hao could greet them, he saw the two Ghost Officiants approach the corpse. They took out an iron hook attached to a chain, preparing to snatch the dead man’s soul.

Shorty’s senses were sharp; he seemed to feel someone watching them and looked up.

Instantly, man and ghost were staring at each other.

Shorty yelped in fright, jumping up like a startled meatball.

Shorty blurted out, ”Kid, you can see us?”

Chu Hao touched his nose and smiled sheepishly. ”Hello, Ghost Officiants. My name is Chu Hao. I’m a newcomer to the Yin and Yang Realm. Please offer your guidance.”

Chu Hao’s words left the people in the first-class cabin even more astounded.

Ghost Officiants! My god, do Ghost Officiants really exist in this world?

Luo Yan tugged at Chu Hao’s arm, her bright eyes sparkling with excitement, eager to see what a Ghost Officiant looked like.

Shorty snorted. ”So, you’re a Yin Yang Master. Kid! You’d better not meddle in affairs that don’t concern you. This person’s time is up, and we must take his soul.”

Chu Hao nodded. ”I won’t interfere. I was just a bit excited to see you both.”

Tall Guy chuckled. ”This kid knows his stuff.”

Shorty glared at him. ”Are you an idiot? He’s treating us like a sideshow!”

Hearing this, Tall Guy grew angry. ”Kid, don’t look at things you’re not supposed to see! Be careful, or we’ll reap your soul too!”
