Ghost Catching System

Luo Dong suddenly stared at Wang Shan’s ghost, wisps of black air emanating from his mouth, and said coldly, ”Did you bring that woman here?”

Wang Shan’s ghost trembled in fear, his body shaking as he stammered, ”Ghost King... Your Excellency, I... I.”

”Call me Principal.”

Wang Shan: ”...”

Ghost King Luo Dong said grimly, ”Did you bring a living person here without permission?”

Wang Shan’s soul trembled. He knew Luo Dong’s strength; the Ghost King could devour him at any moment.

The Ghost King had killed Wang Shan precisely because he was looking for a modern, knowledgeable individual to serve him.

At first, Wang Shan had been terrified, but gradually he discovered that being a ghost was quite comfortable, especially for powerful ones. They could do whatever they pleased, enjoying an incredible sense of freedom.

Wang Shan hastily said, ”Principal, I did this for your sake too.”

The Ghost King slapped him. Wang Shan’s ghost screamed as a fissure tore through his ethereal form.

The Ghost King bellowed, ”You dare to disobey the rules set by this Principal?”

Wang Shan shivered, quickly kneeling on the ground and trembling as he said, ”I obey, I obey.”

The Ghost King harrumphed. ”This Principal advocates... uh... that educational initiative.”

Wang Shan quickly supplied, ”Education reform.”

Ghost King Luo Dong snapped, ”Are you telling me? As if this Principal doesn’t already know!”

The other evil ghosts looked on at Wang Shan with schadenfreude. This fellow was just a newcomer. If not for the Ghost King’s favor, how could he have become an evil ghost so quickly?

If anyone heard that a ghost was working on education reform, they would be utterly dumbfounded.

Wang Shan said with difficulty, ”But... Principal, the person I found... she’s an English teacher at a school.”

The Ghost King paused, the black air around him dissipating somewhat. ”An English teacher? So, she speaks a foreign tongue?”

Wang Shan: ”Yes.”

The Ghost King stroked his chin, pondering. ”If we’re promoting education reform, our Ghost School can’t be without a foreign language teacher. You’ve done well in this matter.”

Wang Shan breathed a sigh of relief.

In truth, he found the whole situation baffling. Such a powerful Ghost King should have been enjoying his carefree existence, yet he was fixated on establishing a Ghost School. Indeed, the Ghost King had ’ambitious plans’ to establish a Ghost School. It was hard to understand what he was thinking; it seemed like a truly idle whim.

Wang Shan wanted to complain but didn’t dare. He could only silently curse his rotten luck. He had initially thought becoming an evil ghost would grant him freedom, but even after arriving at the Ghost Cave, his destiny as a teacher remained unchanged. The poor fellow had simply changed the location of his teaching job.

The Ghost King, much calmer now, said coldly, ”Ghost One, Ghost Two, go bring that living person here. Don’t be rough, understand? We need to build connections with people like her.”

The two evil ghosts promptly replied, ”Yes, Principal.”

”Wang Shan, take the foreign language teacher you captured to my cave dwelling… No! To my office.”

See?! This Ghost King must have gone mad; he even has an office. Wang Shan thought, then said gloomily, ”Yes.”

「 」

Chu Hao, learning that the Ghost King was nearby, quickened his pace.

Suddenly, Ghost One and Ghost Two appeared with a retinue of evil ghosts. They exuded a terrifying Yin energy, and the group of evil ghosts trailing them shouted, ”Living person, halt!”

Chu Hao replied icily, ”Step aside.”

Ghost One said, ”Greetings, living person. Our Ghost King invites you.”

Chu Hao was stunned. These two evil ghosts were remarkably polite, nothing like the wandering wild ghosts he had encountered before.

He said coldly, ”Cut the nonsense. Where is the woman you’ve captured? If you don’t hand her over, this Taoist Master will flatten your Ghost Cave.”

Ghost One said, ”It’s like this: a new ghost acted without authorization. If you have any questions, you can ask our Ghost King directly.”

Ghost Two added, ”Those wandering wild ghosts you met earlier were merely spirits from the outside who accidentally strayed into the Ghost Cave. If they caused any offense, please forgive them. Our Ghost Cave has always valued goodwill.”

Chu Hao’s mind struggled to process this.

Damn it. How can I get tough if they’re being so polite?

Ghost Two continued, ”The person Wang Shan lured here—the Ghost King would not treat her in such a way.”

Damn it. Could this be a trap?

Chu Hao asked tentatively, ”So… can I purify you guys?”

The two ghosts were taken aback, a hint of anger flashing in their eyes. They had been so courteous, yet this living person still wanted to purify them.

Ghost One shook her head. ”We wish to follow the Ghost King. He can bring about a new age for ghosts. It’s his dream, and it’s our dream too.”

You guys are making my head spin. How am I supposed to take action and earn experience points this way?

Chu Hao scoffed. He was curious to see what this Ghost King was up to. ”Alright, let’s go.”

Following Ghost One and Ghost Two, he passed through a layer of mist and arrived at a place filled with the scent of flowers, its landscape incredibly picturesque.

An illusionary realm?

Chu Hao found it unbelievable that such a hidden paradise existed here.

Next, he witnessed an astounding scene. On a patch of green grass, forty to fifty pale-faced ghosts—young, very young, and old alike—were sitting upright, just like schoolchildren.

An old ghost in wrinkled clothes, his face as pale as any evil ghost, resembling an ancient scholar, was saying, ”At the beginning of a ghost’s existence, its nature is inherently good. Natures are similar, yet habits diverge. This speaks of a fundamental principle. We are all good before birth; turning from good to evil is but a thought away. Good ghosts receive good karma, and evil ghosts receive bad karma. Do you understand?”

The forty to fifty ghosts replied in unison, ”Understood.”

Chu Hao: ”...”

Wait, am I caught in an illusion technique? Is this really still a ghost’s den?

Unable to contain himself, Chu Hao pointed and asked, ”What are they doing?”

Ghost One, a female ghost who had possessed a certain beauty in life, answered, ”Our school is preparing for large-scale recruitment. We’re planning to bring those ghosts who cannot reincarnate and can only hide and wander in the Yang Realm into the Ghost Cave as students.”

Chu Hao was bewildered. ”Ghost School? Students?”

Ghost Two, a male ghost, his eyes filled with hope, said, ”We firmly believe that good ghosts will be rewarded with good karma. Since they can’t reincarnate, why not strive to live well in the Yang Realm? That’s why… the Ghost King established this Ghost School.”

Damn it! The world is vast and full of wonders, but a group of ghosts actually starting a school?

Chu Hao’s mind struggled to comprehend what the Ghost King was truly trying to achieve.

”Let me take you to the office.”

Chu Hao’s mouth twitched again. Today has truly been an eye-opener; there’s actually an office.

When they arrived at the so-called office, Chu Hao saw it was an actual commercial building, as grand as any modern skyscraper.

Reaching the top floor, Chu Hao glanced through the glass and immediately spotted Teacher Qiu’s soul. He dashed toward it.

As a soul, he intended to pass through the wall, but instead slammed into the glass, breaking out in a cold sweat from the pain.

How is this possible?

Chu Hao looked on in disbelief. The building was real, actually capable of blocking ghosts from entering.

It occurred to him that this must be one of the Underworld’s hidden secret realms. These realms are part of the Underworld, and many powerful Ghost Gods possess their own. Like Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva!! Such realms are incredibly rare, akin to a mini-Underworld in their own right, let alone appearing in the Yang Realm.

”Come in.”
