Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2997: Chapter 2998: Procurement List

”Why don’t you want to go with them?” Bai Ruozhu patiently asked.

Yong Qiaoqiao pursed her lips and said, ”My fiancé is a homosexual, I don’t want to marry him.”

”A homosexual?” Bai Ruozhu was a bit surprised. ”Did you see it with your own eyes? Does your father know?”

In modern times, there are those women who marry such men knowing the truth and are okay with it, but if they have no clue and end up in a marriage like that unknowingly, wouldn’t it be a trap?

”Others saw it with their own eyes; they have no reason to lie to me. I told my father, but he doesn’t believe it. He insists that my fiancé has been under his watch since childhood and isn’t that type of person.”

Yong Qiaoqiao seemed rather angry, appearing quite disappointed with her father for this reason.

”When you were escaping, your father was running a fever because of you; don’t you want to ask how he is now?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Yong Qiaoqiao’s face changed slightly, ”My father has always been strong, he’ll be fine.”

”You easily believe what others say but not your father? Your father travels back and forth from the Western Regions for business, would he not pay attention to his future son-in-law’s situation? You’re really selfish, I’m not interested in saving you,” Bai Ruozhu sneered, ”Besides, we’re heading to the Western Regions, are you planning to go with us?”

”Sir, it’s not that I don’t believe my father, it’s just that he’s too honest, he’s not good at judging people. I just hope you can send someone to take me back to Danliang. I will surely repay you in the future.” Yong Qiaoqiao said.

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but let out a chuckle, ”Why should I help you? How can you repay me?”

”I...” Yong Qiaoqiao hesitated, looking quite unconvinced.

She looked like an officer’s daughter.

Ao Song winked at Bai Ruozhu and then said, ”She’s just a girl and seems quite pitiful; we have enough manpower, let’s help her. Isn’t there a saying about drawing swords to help when seeing injustice?”

Bai Ruozhu understood her plan, deliberately pretended to be angry, and said, ”Since Miss Zhong has spoken, then handle it yourself.”

She returned to the carriage after she finished speaking.

Ao Song went over to support Yong Qiaoqiao and said in a gentle voice, ”I’m a very enthusiastic person, don’t worry, I’ll definitely help you. But you have an injured foot now and can’t travel immediately. You can stay in my carriage for a while, until you’re better in a couple of days, then I’ll have my subordinates escort you back.”

Yong Qiaoqiao showed a look of joy, ”Thank you, Miss Zhong.”

Ao Song smiled brightly and helped Yong Qiaoqiao into her horse carriage.

The team continued moving forward. On the carriage, Ao Song gave Yong Qiaoqiao medicine and some dimsum to eat. Seeing her hair was messy, she even gifted her a valuable hairpin.

Yong Qiaoqiao was flattered and almost called Ao Song an angel savior.

The journey proceeded slowly, and at one point, a horse carriage got stuck in a mud pit. Fortunately, there were plenty of experts in the team who easily lifted the carriage out.

Yong Qiaoqiao had injured her ankle, but two days passed and it was no longer swollen. She became increasingly familiar with Ao Song.

”Qiaoqiao, since we’re such good friends now, why don’t you stay with me instead of going back?” Ao Song tentatively asked.

”Well...” Yong Qiaoqiao hesitated, but quickly declined.

”Thank you, miss, for your kindness, but I miss home and I’m used to living in Danliang.”

Ao Song’s eyes shifted, ”Your father went to the Western Regions, who do you have at home? Why not stay with me, or is there something you can’t say?”

”It’s just that Qiaoqiao is useless, I cannot accept the kind offer.” Yong Qiaoqiao hesitated but ultimately didn’t agree.

During a rest stop, Ao Song, irritated, said to Bai Ruozhu, ”Her lips are sealed tight, insists on going back, but won’t say why.”

”Couldn’t get anything out of her?” Bai Ruozhu asked with a grin.

Ao Song pouted, ”If it comes to it, I’ll give her a beating to make her spill everything.”

”Let’s see how I can handle her then,” Bai Ruozhu smiled wryly, knowing there was a simpler way but not wanting to dampen Ao Song’s enthusiasm.

”Alright, alright, go ahead, sister!” Ao Song said with a smile.

Bai Ruozhu directly boarded the carriage and used a confession-inducing drug on Yong Qiaoqiao. Her awareness started to blur and she soon truthfully revealed everything.

”Mr. Du said he likes me, but due to my low status, I’m unlikely to enter his family. As long as I obtain Wang Song’s procurement list, essentially making a significant contribution to the Du Family, I can marry into the Du Family openly.” Yong Qiaoqiao said with a slight smile, ”Mr. Du treats me really well, he promised to cherish me forever.”

”Idiot.” Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but curse. He was clearly using her, yet she said he was good to her. She even stole the merchant team’s leader’s stuff for such a man, and injured her father, ignoring his well-being.

Who knows what else Wang Song’s procurement list could be used for? Once Wang Song realizes the list missing and suspects Yong Qiaoqiao, wouldn’t Yong Guang have to take responsibility for his daughter’s actions?

She was completely neglecting her father’s well-being and was about to put him in an unjust position; being this kind of daughter was like having her conscience eaten by dogs.

”Du Family? Which Du Family? What’s Mr. Du’s name?” Bai Ruozhu immediately thought of Du Zhongshu and wondered if this Du Family might be related to Du Zhongshu’s family.

”The Du Family that sells toothpaste; Mr. Du’s name is Du Zhongjing,” Yong Qiaoqiao replied.

Bai Ruozhu frowned, ”Where’s the procurement list?”

Yong Qiaoqiao took a paper from her bosom and handed it to Bai Ruozhu.

”Mr. Du didn’t say what kind of contribution this would make?” she asked.

”He didn’t say. It’s probably business competition.” Yong Qiaoqiao replied.

Bai Ruozhu quickly scanned the procurement list. There wasn’t anything special. She wondered what the Du Family really wanted to do.

The drug’s effect was nearly gone, and Bai Ruozhu prepared to leave the carriage. Ao Song quickly asked, ”So what happens to her? I’m done playing with her, even seeing her for one more second makes me feel sick.”

”Then toss her out; are we really going to send someone to take her back?” Bai Ruozhu said.

”What if we actually do it? Send someone to take her to the Du Family, then investigate what the Du Family’s purpose really is,” Ao Song suggested.

Bai Ruozhu gave her a glance, ”You don’t think that’s troublesome? Escort her all the way and then enter the Du Family, how much effort would that take? It’s better for me to send a message to the Commerce Association to investigate.”

Ao Song dryly laughed, ”I’m not in a hurry anyway, but if there’s an easier way, then let’s go with that. I’m certainly not idle either.”

Yong Qiaoqiao hadn’t fully regained her senses when Ao Song threw her off the horse carriage. When the carriage team was far away, she finally woke up, but was clueless about what happened.

She hurriedly searched herself but couldn’t find the procurement list she had painstakingly stolen. She felt completely lost and sat on the roadside, crying hopelessly.

Her Mr. Du was still waiting for her. She finally had a chance to become Mrs. Du, but now it was gone?

Was all her previous suffering for nothing, all the risks she took for nothing?

It must have been Miss Zhong who did it. So all those things she said over the past few days, claiming to like her, were lies!
