Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2995: Chapter 2996: She Still Ran Away

Carrying patients around in the heavy rain isn’t ideal, Bai Ruozhu wanted to speak to stop them, but after thinking it over, she decided to follow Jiang Yichun’s arrangement.

After the previous danger, she became more cautious. She couldn’t guarantee that this Merchant Team was entirely problem-free, nor could she be certain it wasn’t a new trap, so it’s better to be cautious.

The Merchant Team guards didn’t hesitate, immediately thanked them, then went back to convey the request. Quickly, two guards carried Yong Guang, along with another who held an umbrella for him, shielding him from the rain, and brought him over.

”Why is he still wearing wet clothes?” Bai Ruozhu frowned as soon as she saw Yong Guang.

”His spare clothes were all soaked by the rain, we’ve started a fire to help dry them,” said the guard.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, these guards were quite decent.

She reached out to feel Yong Guang’s pulse. Wind chill accompanied by wound infection, not a serious illness, but if not treated timely, the fever could be life-threatening.

She used the silver needle for acupuncture, and disinfected the wound on the back of Yong Guang’s head. Only now did she take a closer look at the wound; it was quite severe, Yong Qiaoqiao really hit hard.

No matter the circumstances, how could you hit your own father like this?

Bai Ruozhu would never strike Bai Yihong in such a manner.

”Where’s his daughter?” Bai Ruozhu suddenly realized Yong Qiaoqiao hadn’t come; even if others didn’t, she as his daughter should have.

”Caught a cold and has diarrhea; she’ll come by later,” replied the guard.

Bai Ruozhu frowned, ”How long has it been? Find a woman to check on her, don’t let her get lost.”

Wasn’t that the issue? Bai Ruozhu felt Yong Qiaoqiao had run away again.

”Alright, alright,” the guard realized the problem and quickly went back to report.

Over at the Merchant Team, their leader named Wang Song sighed upon hearing the guard’s report, ”Shouldn’t have let old Yong and his daughter join us, what a trouble! Spent so little on the escort fee and now causing us problems.”

Someone nearby hurriedly advised, ”Wang, let it be, it’s just debts of children, old Yong doesn’t have it easy either.”

”Wife, you take some people to search, sorry for the trouble.” In the pouring rain, Wang Song couldn’t ask other women for help, so he had to trouble his own wife.

His wife already worked hard running the Merchant Team with him, and then encountered such a troublesome issue.

Wang Song’s wife didn’t waste words, got up, called two helpful women, put on raincoats, and went out to search.

Meanwhile, Bai Ruozhu gave Jianqi a glance, Jianqi secretly dispatched dark guards to go out.

Soon Wang Song’s wife and the others hurried back, ”Husband, she’s gone, searched everywhere nearby, there’s no sign of her at all. Could she be in danger?”

Wang Song’s eyebrows furrowed deeply but he didn’t speak immediately. He likely considered that Yong Qiaoqiao probably faced no danger but ran away herself.

As the leader, some words were hard for him to say out loud; saying them would be equivalent to directly convicting the girl.

”I reckon she ran away herself, I really don’t understand how that girl thinks, ignoring her father’s well-being, her mind is somewhere else,” a woman remarked disdainfully.

Wang Song’s wife glanced at her, signaling her to stop talking, but everyone kind of figured it out.

How convenient to have diarrhea at such a moment?

They’re hiding here from the rain, and with nearby government soldiers, can any real villains come to abduct anyone?

Even beasts would avoid the area upon seeing the flames from here.

So, it’s likely that she ran away on her own.

There, Bai Ruozhu gave Yong Guang medicine and ordered someone to watch over him. Yong Guang’s temperature had already dropped somewhat, but he hadn’t woken up yet.

”Master, Yong Qiaoqiao has run away, not far yet, shall we bring her back?” Wei Ba reported, seeming quite angry.

”No need, if she wants to run, let her. The path is her own choice, and the consequences she will have to bear herself. I’m rather curious if she can survive the journey back to Danliang,” Bai Ruozhu was also somewhat displeased. Regardless of Yong Qiaoqiao’s circumstances, how could she be in the mood to escape at a time when her father’s fever posed a serious risk? Doesn’t she care about her father’s survival?

Ao Song smirked, ”Sister Ruozhu, didn’t you want to have a daughter before? But if your daughter turned out like Yong Qiaoqiao, would you still dare to have one?”

”Even if I had a daughter, I would educate her well since childhood. If she really went astray, I’d break her legs,” Bai Ruozhu gritted her teeth as she spoke.

Her gaze fell on her children sleeping soundly in the Cave. Fortunately, her children were well-behaved and sensible. But she couldn’t afford to be complacent; she had to educate them thoroughly to avoid them becoming spoiled like Yong Qiaoqiao.

Perhaps having only one child, Yong Guang and his wife pampered her significantly, especially since his wife recently passed away, he should be even more doting. But regrettably, the daughter showed no concern for her father.

The rain pattered through the night, only stopping after dawn. Bai Ruozhu ordered porridge to be made and added dried meat for everyone, soon the fragrance wafted through the air.

From the Merchant Team came belly growls, many swallowed hard, taking out their dried food to munch on.

”Share some porridge with them, they’re all citizens of Danliang,” Bai Ruozhu instructed.

”Yes,” the people under her immediately took action.

Yong Guang woke up at that time, feeling foggy seeing strangers around. Bai Ruozhu noticed his awakening, walked over and said, ”You had a fever last night; they brought you here for treatment. You’re better now, but you should still be careful: keep the wound dry, and take your medicine.”

She initially intended to suggest finding a place to recuperate for a few days before continuing the journey, but thought it unrealistic. The Merchant Team couldn’t wait for Yong Guang alone. If he needed rest, he could only find a nearby Village to stay, while the Merchant Team moved on, leaving Yong Guang to find a way to catch up later.

But traveling alone was too risky, even if the Barbarian Tribe’s Beast Team didn’t come to rob, there could still be mountain bandits or beasts on the way.

Yong Guang glanced around, struggling to rise and pay respects, ”Thank you, sir. I wonder where my daughter is?”

Seeing worry and urgency in his eyes, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but think of her father Bai Yihong, feeling a bit melancholic.

Ao Song couldn’t bear it, interrupting, ”Your daughter ran away, you better not worry about her anymore; the path she chose is her own.”

”What!” Yong Guang was taken aback, ”How could she...”

Before finishing his sentence, his eyes rolled and he fainted again.

Ao Song stuck out her tongue, ”I didn’t mean to.”

Bai Ruozhu gave her a reproachful glance, without blaming her; even without Ao Song speaking, Yong Guang would know, this couldn’t be hidden.

The Merchant Team was very grateful for the hot porridge; Wang Song personally came over to express his thanks.

”Thank you, sir, for the porridge; us common folk are truly grateful,” Wang Song said with a bow.

”No need for thanks, you can carry Yong Guang away. He fainted again upon hearing his daughter ran away. Here is medicine for recuperation; take it thrice daily, and keep the wound dry,” Bai Ruozhu said.
