Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2963: Chapter 2964: This Kind of Fool

”What? How did I end up with that stuff?” Xue Zhuo defended himself, ”I rushed here day and night after seeing the letter. How would I know what’s in it? I saw my father’s handwriting and thought it was real, then returned home and saw you all casting spells, and my sister was in so much pain, I just...”

Xue Zhuo was also aggrieved, ”In that situation, how could I ask for details? Of course, I had to save the person first.”

Old Xue kicked him, ”You have some nerve! Look at the people who came to help us, and you nearly caused a tragedy. Go apologize immediately!”

”I didn’t do it on purpose. How could they save her while letting her suffer like that? I got so angry seeing that.”

Ao Song was enraged and wanted to rush over and hit someone, but Gao Zhou stopped her.

”Girl, calm down. He’s just a reckless youngster. Why waste your breath on him?” Gao Zhou said.

”Reckless my foot, he’s older than me, isn’t he? Almost killed someone, and yet he thinks he’s justified?” Ao Song said as she prepared to cast a spell, but Gao Zhou urgently persuaded, ”This is an official residence. Don’t cause trouble.”

Ao Song shoved him aside, ”What does it matter if it’s an official residence? I’d stir up trouble in the Imperial Palace too. If they don’t apologize properly today, I’ll tear this place down!”

”Ao Song...” Astrologer called out to her, seeming to tug at his wound, and drew a sharp breath of pain.

Ao Song immediately turned her attention to Astrologer’s injury, asking worriedly, ”Are you okay?”

”I’m fine. Just a bit dizzy, I need to rest.” Astrologer said.

”You’ve lost so much blood, how could you not be dizzy? Sister Ruozhu, do you have any blood-replenishing Qi medicine for him?” Ao Song said anxiously.

Bai Ruozhu held back a laugh, ”He’s already had it, but it’s not a miracle pill. He still needs proper rest. You should take him back now.”

”Alright, alright.” Ao Song helped Astrologer up and started heading towards the guest room where he was staying.

Not long after, Astrologer suddenly stopped, turned to Xue Zhuo, and said, ”Being misled is understandable, but be careful next time. A life could be lost unnecessarily.”

Without waiting for Xue Zhuo’s response, he continued walking ahead.

Ao Song wanted to curse, but seeing Astrologer, she held back.

Xue Zhuo still couldn’t trust Bai Ruozhu and the others, muttering defiantly, ”You can’t read minds, who’s to say you’re good or bad? My sister was fine until you brought her back, and then everything was wrong.”

Bai Ruozhu narrowed her eyes and suddenly appeared in front of Xue Zhuo, delivering a resounding slap across his face.

”That slap was on behalf of my friend. I think it was too light. You only got slapped while his shoulder was nearly pierced through. Want to try that feeling?” she said through gritted teeth.

”Why waste words? Let me stab him with a sword for fairness, I’ll make sure it doesn’t kill him.” Jiang Yichun said, drawing his sword.

Old Xue’s face turned pale with horror. He had heard of Master Jiang, decisive in eliminating enemies for the emperor; even King Rui was said to have been killed by him.

Such a person wouldn’t hesitate to kill, his son’s life could be at risk.

Thinking of this, Old Xue rushed over and slapped Xue Zhuo fiercely.

”You fool! Haven’t I taught you anything? You injure someone and don’t even repent, you think you’re justified? See if I won’t beat you senseless!”

As he cursed, he hit his son’s face and body with a hard hand, leaving Xue Zhuo’s face swollen.

No matter how hard he hits, it won’t be fatal, but if Master Jiang acted, Xue Zhuo might lose half his life even if he doesn’t die.

Old Xue was undeniably a smart man, like when a child injures someone outside, and the victim’s family brings the child to confront you. Do you brush them off, or do you discipline your child in front of them to appease their anger?

Bai Ruozhu once heard of an incident where a child loved fighting, not knowing restraint. One day, he beat another child, causing severe injuries. The injured child’s parents took him to the hospital for treatment, then approached the fighting child’s parents.

Unexpectedly, that family’s parents were unreasonable and said children’s squabbles were normal. Their apology was insincere, and the child who did the hitting hid behind his parents, smugly making faces, not realizing his mistake.

Later, the matter was unresolved, and after some time, when everyone had mostly forgotten, the hitting child was suddenly beaten, nearly losing his life.

His family offended many, not knowing who or why it happened, only realizing it was due to their refusal to acknowledge their wrongdoings earlier.

Although the aggrieved family’s extreme actions weren’t justifiable, Bai Ruozhu believed if the hitting child’s parents had been serious initially, the subsequent tragedy might have been avoided.

She used to think when teaching Little Dengdeng martial arts, if one day he hit another child and their parents confronted her, she’d definitely discipline Little Dengdeng in front of them. At least she knows her own strength, instead of waiting for others to discipline him later.

Furthermore, she felt it would serve as a lesson to Little Dengdeng, preventing him from growing up to bully those weaker than him.

Of course, she hadn’t actually implemented this plan yet, and Little Dengdeng hadn’t bullied any children.

Therefore, Bai Ruozhu thought Old Xue was smart, but somehow managed to raise such a foolish son like Xue Zhuo.

”Father, stop hitting me. I was wrong, okay? I’ll be careful from now on.” Xue Zhuo said, trying to avoid the blows while apologizing, his face reddening.

”If today you faced ordinary people instead of powerful Yin Yang Masters, you would’ve committed murder! Then you’d face either execution or exile, your life would be ruined. How can your reckless behavior change?” Old Xue said, panting heavily as he continued to reprimand his son.

”Send me to the army, I’ll learn discipline there.” Xue Zhuo argued further.

Old Xue coughed in frustration, ”Do you think you’re Xue Xin? If you were half as steady as your cousin, I wouldn’t stop you. You can’t study, and your martial arts are half-baked. You’re getting more reckless, how can I rest assured?”

Xue Zhuo blushed further from the reprimand, ”Father, can you not scold me in front of people?”

Old Xue cursed under his breath, wondering when this son would ease his worries.

”Enough!” Bai Ruozhu’s tone intensified. She had seen enough of their argument, and looking at Old Xue, she said, ”You can educate your child at home. We will not, and cannot, meddle in your family affairs.”

Originally intending to repay Xue Wenhui’s kindness by staying a few more days to handle Xue Madam’s corpse, and to let Astrologer recover, Bai Ruozhu now wished to leave immediately.

Not wanting to stay a moment longer, she feared if she remained, Achun might harm Xue Zhuo, leading to legal troubles over such a foolish matter.
