Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2979: Chapter 2980: Short-Lived

Bai Ruozhu stifled a laugh; this Xue Zhi’s skill level isn’t high enough, she got provoked just after a few words.

”As far as I know, wasn’t it the Xue Madam who drove your mother away back then? Soon after your mother stole the Xue Madam’s clothes and climbed into her husband’s bed, who’s really wronged who?” Her tone was disdainful, deliberately provoking Xue Zhi.

”You’re spouting nonsense!” Xue Zhi shouted in anger, ”My mother wasn’t like that, it was only because she was taken advantage of when he was drunk and unwilling to take responsibility. If she hadn’t asked me not to kill him on her deathbed, I definitely wouldn’t have let him go!”

”It was all what your mother said? Of course, she wouldn’t dare tell you her disgraceful acts. She just couldn’t bring herself to seek revenge on her own, so she dragged her daughter into it, which isn’t much better.” Bai Ruozhu said.

”What do you know? If someone separates you from your mother, wouldn’t you hate them?” Xue Zhi retorted unwillingly.

Bai Ruozhu laughed instead, ”I feel it’s more like she harbored hatred in her heart and used you for revenge. Otherwise, as a concubine’s daughter who became the legitimate daughter, you weren’t missing parental love. You’d marry into a good family and live a peaceful life, but look at you now?”

”Peaceful life? If that old hag doesn’t die, what good family could I marry into? Those vulgar fools can’t compare with the young master!” Xue Zhi said.

Master Xue, who had been hiding, couldn’t hold back anymore, rushed out, and slapped Xue Zhi.

”Ungrateful wretch, how have we treated you all these years, yet you go and kill your legitimate mother!” he shouted angrily.

Xue Zhi was dumbfounded, suddenly looking at Bai Ruozhu; she had fallen into a trap!

Bai Ruozhu had long instructed Wei Jiu to invite Master Xue over, stating there was an important matter to discuss, and told Wei Jiu to hold Master Xue back, not letting him out until the right moment.

Thus, Master Xue witnessed his daughter’s crime. At this moment, Xue Zhi could no longer feign innocence even if she tried.

She laughed, ”How have you treated me? If you had any sympathy for me, you wouldn’t have driven away my real mother! What did you take me for? Since childhood, my brother could throw tantrums and be spoiled, but I couldn’t. I never understood why the mother was so strict with me, turns out she wasn’t even my real mother.”

”It was me who asked your mother to be stricter with you so that you could become a lady of a noble house and marry into a good family in the future. I didn’t expect you to hate us like this. A well-behaved daughter learning such a thing, using curses,” Master Xue said with trembling hands, Xue Zhi’s face was swollen from his slap, he raised his hand to strike again but couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Knowing fully well that she killed his lady, she was still his daughter, his feelings were extremely complex, wanting to avenge his lady, yet there stood his own flesh and blood.

”What’s wrong with curses? My mother was a weak woman, discarded by you like trash. Once she learned curses, she could play you all in the palm of her hand,” Xue Zhi said unwillingly.

Ao Song walked over, ”With your skills and your mother’s? Then how did your mother die?”

”My mother was unfortunately harmed by enemies, I will avenge her,” Xue Zhi’s eyes were filled with slow-burning hatred.

”Curse masters don’t live long. Your mother didn’t make it to thirty-five, you’ve started harming others at such a young age, living past twenty-five is not easy, and reaching thirty is lucky,” Ao Song said.

Bai Ruozhu also spoke, ”You killed someone, do you think you still have a chance to go out and seek revenge?”

She looked at Master Xue, ”A life for a life. No matter how reluctant you are, she must be sent to the Government Office, or who knows how many more she’ll harm. Also, ask her nicely, who bore the hole in Xue Zhuo’s chest.”

”Was it really you?” Master Xue stared at Xue Zhi in disbelief, ”Hating us is one thing, but what had Zhuo’er ever done to wrong you? You grew up together, he treated you like a sister, how could you bring yourself to do it?”

”That wench’s flesh and blood deserve to die!” Xue Zhi shouted, her eyes filled only with hatred, reasoning long abandoned.

Master Xue looked at her in disappointment, ”Your heart is already blackened, utterly devoid of conscience. I was truly blind to have kept you.”

”Our Zhong Family specifically restrains such harmful curse techniques; I’ll now abolish her cultivation base and see how she harms others,” Ao Song said, stepping forward.

Initially, she had appeared because someone from the Barbarian Clan had used a thousand-person blood sacrifice, alarming the Zhong Family.

Xue Zhi displayed a frightened expression, ”Don’t come near me, this is illegal punishment.”

”Afraid now? What about when you were harming others?” Bai Ruozhu glanced at Master Xue, ”It won’t kill her. Don’t interfere.”

Ao Song’s hand was already on Xue Zhi’s head, Xue Zhi felt her power slowly seeping away, fear creeping up in her heart.

”Father, stop them. I was just speaking in anger. I never intended to kill you, really!” Xue Zhi shouted.

Master Xue turned his head away, his voice choked, ”A sin, all my fault.”

In less than a quarter-hour, Ao Song withdrew her hand, and Xue Zhi lay weakly on the ground.

”Without curses, you might live a few decades longer. Otherwise, backfiring curse after curse on others, you wouldn’t have much longer to live,” Ao Song said.

Xue Zhi’s eyes were lifeless, unfocused, muttering to herself, ”It’s over, over, all over.”

”I’ve met your young master; he stops at nothing to achieve his goals, even deceiving my friend’s feelings. You’re just one of many women he’s fooled, wake up.” Bai Ruozhu turned to Wei Jiu, ”Take her to the Government Office, send my note, detailing her crimes.”

Wei Jiu didn’t blink, ”Yes!”

Master Xue became anxious, ”No, don’t—under these circumstances, give her one more chance? Besides, you’re her husband, how can you...”

Wei Jiu said sternly: ”Master Xue, haven’t you realized yet? Her marriage to me was a sham, and my marrying her was a sham. She was after our Duan Shi family heirloom, and we aimed for her to reveal her true self. If not for the master wanting to send me and her back to the Capital, she’d certainly make a move on the road after waiting for just a little while longer.”

”This, this... fake?” Master Xue’s heart was tumultuous, realizing he’d been the only one kept in the dark.

Ao Song picked up Xue Zhi’s staff and snapped it with a crunch, deepening Xue Zhi’s despair; the object she had worked so hard to practice and relied upon was casually destroyed with a lift of his hand.

As if it was as simple as pinching an ant to death, no matter how hard she tried, she remained but a weak ant.

”You should be glad you didn’t curse Sister Ruozhu; otherwise, one more backlash and you’d be dead without a doubt,” Ao Song said.

Xue Zhi no longer had the strength to speak, collapsing softly on the ground, as Wei Jiu lifted her with one hand, ”Daybreak is near; we’ll go to the Government Office shortly.”

”Could we not mention the curses?” Master Xue asked helplessly.

Curses, similar to witchcraft, could implicate the entire clan.

”Let’s just say she poisoned and attempted to murder the legitimate mother.” Bai Ruozhu said.
