Chapter 2968: Chapter 2969: Poison Hidden in the Latrine Pit

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun asked some questions, but Duan Fei answered them one by one with little useful information. He didn’t know who gave him the tip-off or who was watching the Xue Family, nor did he know the specifics of the family heirloom. He came to Linchuan City simply because of his nature of not letting go of any advantage, plus he wanted to sell Five Stone Powder.

Moreover, the person buying Five Stone Powder from him was the hall master of an underground gang, specifically buying this stuff to control people and make money.

The two asked some more questions, seeing Duan Fei’s poison effect was about to hit, they quickly hid.

Duan Fei shook his head, ”The booze from last night really kicked in; I can’t drink today, lest I delay tomorrow’s big event.”

He muttered to himself as he walked forward, soon turning into Liu Alley, entering Linchuan City’s most famous brothel.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun returned to the inn and informed everyone of their findings.

”This is outrageous, someone is selling Five Stone Powder, we’ll finish them off tomorrow!” Ao Song said angrily.

Bai Ruozhu shook her head, ”We can’t act yet. Only a few people will be at the transaction tomorrow; catching them would alert the others. It’s better to wait, locate their main camp, and then take them all down.”

”Such underground factions are so rampant, they’re likely in cahoots with the Government Office. We can’t tell the Government Office about this, or they’ll get wind and hide immediately.” Jiang Yichun analyzed, ”But without asking for the Government Office’s help, we might not have enough manpower.”

”Also, if we make too big of a move, it might become hard to investigate on the Xue Family’s side.” Bai Ruozhu was worried, but the Five Stone Powder absolutely cannot spread on the market.

Suddenly, her eyes lit up, she smiled slyly at Jiang Yichun, ”There are plenty of chances to deal with those people. We can first tamper with the Five Stone Powder, then even if we don’t handle Duan Fei, the buyer won’t let him off.”

”Great, that’s a good idea. What are you going to replace it with? Poison?” Ao Song clapped in agreement, seeing her gleeful look, the astrologer seemed dazed.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment and said: ”Laxative, also let those who consume it detoxify themselves.”

”Isn’t that too lenient on them?” Ao Song pouted, ”Those using Five Stone Powder aren’t good people.”

”What if they use it to harm innocents, secretly putting some in food? If I swap it for poison, it might unintentionally hurt others.” Bai Ruozhu said.

Ao Song put away his playful demeanor, ”Alright, you are thorough in your thinking. When are we going to act?”

”It’s Jiang Yichun and I going; you stay to protect the astrologer.” Bai Ruozhu said.

”What’s dangerous in broad daylight? Why do I have to protect him?” Ao Song blushed.

Bai Ruozhu chuckled softly, ”The mastermind hasn’t shown up. If they want to give us a hard time, they’ll definitely target the injured.”

”Oh, fine.” Ao Song became nervous.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun left the astrologer’s room. Jiang Yichun asked, ”You matched them up pretty forcefully?”

”If she’s not willing at all, I can’t do anything. I think some progress has been made.” Bai Ruozhu laughed, ”Not telling you, I have to get some laxative that smells like Five Stone Powder, otherwise I can’t trick them.”

After speaking, she returned to the space to focus on preparing the medicine, while Jiang Yichun used this time to check into the Golden Tiger Gang trading with Duan Fei. As expected, this gang had some connections—their leader once saved the Prefect of Qing’an and received considerable favor from him, and the magistrate of Linchuan City was a disciple of the Prefect of Qing’an.

The matter became somewhat complex; originally, she wouldn’t bother with these River Jiang factions or underground forces, but since they insisted on doing the harmful business of Five Stone Powder, Jiang Yichun couldn’t just stand by.

In the afternoon, Bai Ruozhu brought out three boxes of drug powder, with sizes almost identical to Duan Fei’s.

”Want to try it? Guaranteed to make you feel blissful like an Immortal.” Bai Ruozhu held it in front of Jiang Yichun.

Jiang Yichun’s face turned dark, ”If you want diarrhea, go ahead. I’ll just stay a regular human.”

Bai Ruozhu burst into laughter and carefully put away the drug powder.

They dined with Little Dengdeng, Chushuang, and the Luo Family; once darkness fell, they headed out.

At this moment, Duan Fei was snoring away in his room, probably exhausted from a day of battling with beauties.

Bai Ruozhu released some poison then entered his room to search, yet found nothing.

”This guy is quite cautious; we’ll have to use severe interrogation.” Jiang Yichun whispered.

Bai Ruozhu glanced at him, ”Wasting my poison, let alone severe interrogation.”

She tossed a pill into Duan Fei’s mouth, and soon his eyes opened, but they lacked focus.

Using drugs twice in one day weakens the effect, they dared not delay and quickly asked about the whereabouts of Five Stone Powder.

”I sealed it in a bamboo tube and hid it in the backyard’s manure pool.”

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun exchanged glances. Could this be true? He’s messing with them?

”Aren’t you afraid someone will take it while emptying the manure?” Jiang Yichun asked.

”I investigated, the manure truck comes every five days.”

Bai Ruozhu checked Duan Fei’s condition carefully again. He truly was poisoned and controlled by her poison, not lying, but what was the deal with this manure pit?

Seeing the toxicity was fading, the two quickly left Duan Fei’s room; Duan Fei opened his eyes to see it was still dark, turned over, and went back to sleep.

”No wonder he hasn’t been caught by the Government Office,” Jiang Yichun said grimly, ”You go back; I’ll call Muyu to do the dirty work.”

Bai Ruozhu almost laughed out loud. Poor Muyu, you’ve been shot again. Sis can’t help you, nor does she want to.

With a bit of a cleanliness obsession, the instant she thought of the manure pit’s stench, she handed over the prepared drug powder to him and ran off.

”You little heartless.” Jiang Yichun cursed, then called Muyu and handed over the task to him.

”Damn it, Master, you’re not joking, right? Can’t we do it another way or wait for him to go out tomorrow?” Muyu started to sweat; he must have shown up with bad timing, or how else would he be tasked with something like this?

”No, tomorrow being such a day, he’ll be very alert. Any change could alter the plan. The poison was already used twice; once more, he might notice.” Jiang Yichun’s face grew cold, ”When we were at the Supreme Justice Office, what hardship didn’t we endure? This is no big deal; we’re not asking you to jump in.”

Muyu recalled their previous days; once during a mission, they were chased and hid in a pond full of venomous snakes. Snakes slithered over their bodies, a feeling he never wanted to relive.

That time, they got bitten multiple times, each having poisonous wounds. After escaping, Master disappeared for a while, unexpectedly ending up in Mountain Village.
