Chapter 2659: Chapter 2660: The Savages Turn Against Us

Alin spoke somewhat embarrassedly, quickly bowing her head to cover her chest.

A group of men hastily turned away, Bai Ruozhu glanced at Zhitian who was more thickly dressed and said, ”Give her your outer garment to wear.”

”Oh.” Zhitian responded blankly, then took off his outer garment and handed it over with his back turned.

”Thank you.” Alin cheerfully took the garment without avoiding anyone’s gaze and put it on right in front of everyone.

”Actually, I don’t care myself, it’s just that my dad doesn’t allow it. You people are just troublesome.” Alin grumbled, ”But you all look bald and bare, not wearing clothes is really ugly.”

Bai Ruozhu listened, feeling puzzled, thinking that wearing clothes was for civility, warmth, and modesty, but somehow to these hairy Chi Clan people, it became a matter of covering ugliness?

She suspected that in the eyes of the Chi Clan, they must appear like bald people.

”Let’s go.” Alin wasn’t as wary of them as the barbarian leader had been, instead, she trusted them a lot.

”Chi Clan people are very resistant to us, aren’t you afraid of us?” Fo Lanying couldn’t help but ask.

”My dad is just like you, why should I be afraid? And if you were bad people, you wouldn’t have saved me just now, or listened to me talk so much, you’d have just taken my herbal medicine.” Alin replied.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, this girl is very straightforward and smart, it was evident her father taught her well.

Alin led the group around the mountain, into another area, taking them through a winding cave, finally passing a small waterfall before catching sight of a very hidden cave.

”Dad, I met some people from outside, they just helped me.” Alin’s voice was cheerful and very pleasant, without seeing her you’d think she was a pure and innocent fifteen or sixteen-year-old.

Coughing sounds and heavy breathing came from the cave, clearly, the man inside was a bit excited hearing her words.

Alin hurried inside, ”Dad, slow down, take care of your health.”

Bai Ruozhu and the group followed in and saw the man half-lying on a beast skin bed.

He was very thin and looked very unwell, obviously tormented by miasma poison for years.

He looked at the approaching group with surprise and asked excitedly, ”Are you from over the Island?”

Jiang Yichun nodded, his expression immediately changed, ”The fog in that forest is poisonous, quickly eat some herbal medicine, or it’ll be incurable later!”

”We’re alright, but you are deeply poisoned, take this first.” Bai Ruozhu handed him a green Detoxification Pill.

The man hesitated but took the pill.

He couldn’t immediately trust these strangers, but considering his current situation, who would bother to harm a dying man?

Is this medicine effective?

After some thought, he took the pill into his mouth, soon his breathing eased, and his complexion improved a lot.

”Dad, do you feel better?” Alin asked joyfully.

The man nodded dumbly, ”Much better.”

Alin suddenly stood up, knelt on the ground and kowtowed to Bai Ruozhu, ”Thank you for saving my dad, I offer my gratitude.”

Bai Ruozhu quickly reached out to help her up, ”Hurry and get up, meeting you is also fate, a little medicine is nothing. But your dad has been tormented by miasma poison for too many years, the poison is deeply rooted and hard to completely eradicate, he’ll need long-term medication.”

She handed a bottle of pills to Alin, ”Have your dad take one every half month.”

Alin was about to kneel to express her thanks again but was stopped by Bai Ruozhu.

The man also stood up to salute and thank her, though his movements were a bit strenuous, his manners were proper, indicating his identity wasn’t ordinary before coming here.

Indeed, as the man shared his story, the group understood him more.

His name was Duhe, from the east of Fusang, and was an aristocratic child.

He trained in martial arts since young, developing some inner strength. Later, feeling he should wander while young, he went to Guozu Island, became intrigued by tales from islanders about the island’s wonders, confident in his martial arts, he set off to explore. He even thought of rescuing the missing islanders, becoming a young hero.

Yet crossing the Miasma Forest, he felt something was wrong. Luckily, knowing herbal medicine, he managed to temporarily suppress the miasma poison.

He wanted to return the same way, but the place was filled with danger, between the hairy Chi Clan people and giant Earth Dragons, he had to keep hiding. Finally finding a chance to reach the Miasma Forest, he fainted before getting close.

The one who saved him was Alin’s mother, whose health was also poor, and thanks to Duhe’s herbal knowledge, he helped cure her, eventually, they got together.

”You’ve been unable to leave all these years?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Duhe sighed, ”If I left, what about Alin? The Chi Clan wouldn’t accept her as one of them. Taking her away, islanders might see her as a monster, and with my health like this, I couldn’t protect her.”

”Dad, I’m not afraid.” Alin’s eyes welled with tears.

Duhe smiled and patted her head, with a very loving demeanor, showing his genuine affection for his daughter.

Suddenly, outside the sound of rustling leaves echoed, followed by chaotic footsteps and strange cries of the Chi Clan.

Alin’s expression drastically changed, ”How did they find here? They’re saying they want to kill us!”

”They might be here for us.” Bai Ruozhu’s face darkened, seemingly the Chi Clan leader had a change of heart.

Fo Lanying furiously shouted, ”We agreed to search for herbal medicine for three days, how could they turn on us so shamelessly?”

Meanwhile, a group of Chi Clan people blocked the cave entrance, seemingly about to charge in.

Jiang Yichun shot out a water vapor arrow, but the Chi Clan’s tough skin posed little threat.

”A bunch of savages trying to scheme against us, let’s kill them.” Gao Zhou grumbled unhappily.

Bai Ruozhu had intended to avoid conflict considering they were human too, but now they couldn’t be gentle.

She threw a handful of Poison Powder; their tough skin can’t withstand this!

Unexpectedly, smoke emerged from the entrance, the savages knew to use fire tactics!

”Impressive, trying to burn us alive here?” Jiang Yichun sneered, unaware of his control over water.

Bai Ruozhu also sneered, thinking if Jiang Yichun’s water wasn’t enough, her Space stored plenty to extinguish the fire.

Unexpectedly, Alin suddenly dashed out, her speed too swift for anyone to stop, given she escaped from the Earth Dragon habitat, one could imagine her speed.
