Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1895: Chapter 1885: Don’t Act Recklessly

”I’ve been thinking about you all the time, nearly lost my life several times on the way here to find you, and you treat me like this?” Kong Xunwu clutched at his chest as if his heart would break.

Bai Ruozhu thought this guy was following the cliche of a romance novel’s supporting actress. You came here of your own free will, did someone else have to take responsibility for that?

”Alright, everything that had to be said has been said, see the guest out!” Bai Ruozhu shot Jianqi a look, this time they could throw him out.

Jianqi had people carry Kong Xunwu away directly, he struggled like a little chick but couldn’t break free, and could only scream desperately, ”Zhiyi, you must still have feelings for me, how can you forget three years of marriage? You must still be mad at me, I can wait, wait until you forgive me!”

”Get lost! I have nothing to forgive you for, I have no feelings for you anymore, and I don’t ever want to see you again!” Jiang Zhiyi yelled angrily.

The guards hurried their steps and dragged him away.

Bai Ruozhu called over Min Ju, quickly scribbled something on a piece of paper, and then instructed Min Ju on what to do.

Min Ju’s eyes lit up. She loved these things that put the scumbag in his place, didn’t she?

”Yes, Miss, I’ll take care of it right away.” Min Ju took the paper and dashed off.

Bai Ruozhu sat at the table, resting her chin in her hands, and sighed wistfully.

”Ruozhu, sorry for troubling you.” Jiang Zhiyi apologized.

Bai Ruozhu hurriedly waved her hand, ”It’s not a bother, I just feel like putting the scumbag in his place is such a satisfying thing, it’s such a pity I can’t do it myself!”

Everyone paused for two seconds, then burst out laughing. Lin Ping’er gave her a playful look and chided, ”You’re a mother now, still so mischievous.”

At the main gate, Min Ju caught up just as Kong Xunwu was thrown out and tossed a piece of paper in his face.

”This is the divorce letter that was prepared back in the Capital. Miss Jiang was worried you might forget, so take a good look!” Min Ju shouted with hands on her hips.

Then she pointed at him and said, ”You doted on your concubine and neglected your wife. Miss Jiang cut ties with you a long time ago. Now your concubine cheated, and the son she’s carrying isn’t even yours, yet you come back pestering Miss Jiang. You’re still calling yourself a scholar, aren’t you ashamed? You’re divorced, yet you cling to the title of ’wife’. I’ve never seen a man so shameless!”

Min Ju spat on the ground fiercely while speaking, though her actions were coarse, her demeanor was such that the onlookers didn’t find it objectionable but felt particularly satisfied instead.

”Hah, letting a concubine bear the eldest son, even a merchant would find that disgraceful. Serves him right to be cheated on by a concubine.”

”No wonder she divorced him. If they divorced long ago, is he here to ruin her reputation on purpose?”

”...”

The crowd chattered loudly, and Kong Xunwu, already poor with words, was at a loss.

”I was deceived by the concubine. I didn’t want the divorce. They say, ’A repentant heart is invaluable’. We were married for three years, can’t we patch things up?” He pointed at Min Ju and said, ”This Bai Family girl is too awful. Is the Bai Family trying to ruin relationships?”

”Pah!” Min Ju stood akimbo and spat at him again, ”What relationship? You pledged allegiance to King Rui, an act of betrayal against the Imperial Court, then suddenly came from the Capital. How do we know you’re not a spy? The Jiang Family is loyal to the nation, Elder Jiang Ge died condemning King Rui’s rebellion. Miss Jiang would never marry a traitor, give up!”

The crowd’s gazes became even more hostile, pointing fingers at him, with some even directly calling him a traitor or a spy.

”You’re just a scholar, how did you get through all the hardships from the Capital? Don’t give us that ’true love moved heaven and earth’ nonsense, we’re not that easily fooled!” Min Ju laughed coldly, ”Get lost, or I’ll report to the officials and have the government office arrest you for questioning!”

Kong Xunwu was intimidated by the mention of the government office and left, but he still said, ”I have genuine feelings for Jiang Zhiyi. I can wait for her until she forgives me!”

Min Ju quickly reported the situation outside to Bai Ruozhu and the others, and though she usually didn’t talk much, she was adept at imitation, especially when she mimicked Kong Xunwu. It was so realistic it made everyone laugh.

”That scumbag even said the Bai Family ruined his relationship. What kind of relationship is that, shameless!” Jiang Chenshi sighed, ”I must have been blind to have arranged such a marriage.”

Jiang Zhiyi took her mother’s hand and said, ”Mother, it’s not your fault. The Kong Family seemed pretty good back then. It’s probably a blessing in disguise to see the truth early.”

”It’s just...” Jiang Chenshi became worried, causing such a stir, won’t it be hard for Zhiyi to remarry?

Jiang Zhiyi was quite calm, ”Mother, if someone minds that I’ve been married, then I don’t need to marry them. If there’s no suitable person, I’ll just stay with you and Father, living happily.”

”Whether I remarry or not, I can’t go back to Kong Xunwu. He has problems and blames Eldest Sister for not having children.” Jiang Zhihe said angrily.

After lunch, the Jiang Family bade farewell and left. Bai Ruozhu was afraid Kong Xunwu might block their way and harass them, so she sent guards to escort them back. Luckily, the guards reported they didn’t see Kong Xunwu on the way.

When Jiang Yichun returned in the evening, he was already aware of the situation. He asked Bai Ruozhu, ”Do you want me to send someone to deal with him?”

Bai Ruozhu quickly shook her head, ”Don’t do anything rash. If he suddenly died now, Zhiyi might feel it’s her fault for rejecting him, and cause unnecessary self-blame, thinking that it’s because of her refusal that something happened to him. That wouldn’t be good.”

”Zhiyi wouldn’t think that, she’s already let go of Kong Xunwu.” Jiang Yichun said.

Bai Ruozhu pouted, ”You don’t understand. I once heard a story about a woman whose husband had a bad temper and frequently abused her. She finally couldn’t take it and divorced. It should have been a relief, but not long after, the man died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Although it wasn’t directly related to the wife, and she had no feelings left for him, she still felt guilty, thinking that if she hadn’t insisted on the divorce, maybe he wouldn’t have died.”

Jiang Yichun had a cold expression, thinking a man who beats his wife is no good, divorcing was the right thing, and if he died, he deserved it. He couldn’t understand why a woman would feel guilty, just too soft-hearted, wasn’t it?

Though he didn’t understand, he firmly listened to his wife and never acted on his own initiative.

Three more days passed like this, and Bai Ruozhu touched her belly and said, ”The baby’s dropped, it seems it’s really soon.”

It’s better for the baby to be full-term. But it seemed like she really couldn’t wait anymore. These days her right thigh was painfully sore; it didn’t hurt when she stayed still, but trying to lift her leg was excruciating, flipping over felt equally painful, her belly was too big and was straining her joints.

---

Ruozhu’s situation was something Mouka experienced during her pregnancy as well. The doctor insisted it was unrelated to the pregnancy, but once the child was born, she could lift her leg again just fine.
