Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1888: Chapter 1878: Gao Zhou Disappears

In the following days, Jiang Yichun went to learn about midwifery knowledge from Gao Zhou. He had previously studied some medical skills, but as a man, he never needed to learn midwifery, so now it counted as diligently acquiring new knowledge.

The manor outside the city sent a letter from Chenfeng, saying that he hadn’t had those strange habits these past few days, and the snake on his left hand hadn’t moved.

Jiang Yichun handed the letter to Bai Ruozhu, who was very happy and said, ”It seems to be working, although this method only treats the symptoms, not the root cause. It can only temporarily maintain the situation, so we still need to regularly use needlework on him. I’ll talk to your father and let him regularly help Chenfeng with the needlework. I won’t be able to leave the city for a while.”

”Alright, I’ll call him over right away.”

As soon as his wife spoke, Jiang Yichun immediately brought his father over, making Gao Zhou particularly depressed. Why did he recognize his son? Just to do chores for these two?

However, upon hearing about Chenfeng’s situation, he became interested and exchanged some methods of needlework for sealing acupoints with Bai Ruozhu and then confidently said, ”Leave this matter to me, isn’t it time for the needlework tomorrow? I’ll go over tomorrow morning.”

”Thank you for your hard work,” Bai Ruozhu said gratefully.

Gao Zhou waved his hand, ”I am just destined for hard work.”

The next morning, Gao Zhou rode out of the city and went to the manor outside the city to perform needlework to seal Chenfeng’s acupoints.

On the third day, when Jiang Yichun went to the guest palace, he didn’t see any trace of Gao Zhou. After inquiring around, he learned that Gao Zhou had gone out the previous morning and hadn’t returned to the guest palace!

Jiang Yichun blamed himself for not worrying enough about his father, hurriedly had someone send a message to Bai Ruozhu, asking if she knew whether Gao Zhou might have gone anywhere else. Then he personally went to the manor outside the city.

”The revered medical saint gave me a needle to address my recent condition and left afterward. He said he was going back to the city, but has he not returned?” Chenfeng asked worriedly.

Jiang Yichun shook his head, ”You don’t need to worry about this; I’ll have someone look into it.”

Soon, Jianqi’s side sent someone over to inform him that Gao Zhou stayed either at an inn or the guest palace, or even at the Bai Residence, but shouldn’t have gone anywhere else.

Jiang Yichun also went to the city gate to ask the guards if they had seen the medical saint entering the city. He even showed them a drawing, but unfortunately, there were too many people going in and out every day, and the guards didn’t pay that close attention.

”Achun!” Bai Ruozhu’s voice came, as she arrived at the city gate in a horse carriage.

”How is it going?” she asked, lifting the carriage curtain.

Jiang Yichun frowned, ”Why did you come? You should be resting at home.”

”I was the one who asked him to go out of the city, and now he’s missing; how can I be at ease?” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Chenfeng said he left shortly after the needlework yesterday, saying he was returning to the city. I just asked the city gate guards, but no one noticed him.” Jiang Yichun replied.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment, ”Let’s head out of the city and check along the road to the manor.”

”Alright, but you stay in the carriage, you can’t tire yourself out.” Jiang Yichun said, worried.

Once out of the city and with no one around, Bai Ruozhu let Xiaohei out, patted its head, and said, ”See if there’s anything strange or if you can find any traces of the revered medical saint.”

Xiaohei nodded. As a leopard, its sense of smell and observation skills were very keen.

Just like that, as they were nearing the manor, Jiang Yichun suddenly stopped, checking something in the roadside bushes, and Xiaohei also went over, circling that area.

”Ruozhu, it seems like these might be signs left by him,” Jiang Yichun said. ”What does Xiaohei say?”

Bai Ruozhu communicated carefully with Xiaohei and then said, ”It says there’s been a fight here, it seems like the scent of the senior, but it’s very faint.”

”Could it be that my father was captured by someone?” Jiang Yichun, in a moment of anxiety, was unable to keep Gao Zhou’s identity hidden anymore.

”Don’t panic, he’s such a skilled person, and he’s been traveling safely for so many years; nothing will happen this time. Let’s send people to investigate the surroundings and see if there’s anything unusual.” Bai Ruozhu, seeing his eyes turning a shade of crimson, quickly comforted him.

Gradually, the red in his eyes faded, and he nodded at her, ”You’re right, we shouldn’t lose our calm first.”

He said this and got into the carriage, asking the coachman to return to the city.

Soon, several dark guards from the Bai Family dispersed, gathering information about Gao Zhou’s whereabouts.

Two days passed like this, and even the Emperor noticed the medical saint’s absence, asking Jiang Yichun: ”Has the medical saint gone wandering again? Where has he gone to treat patients?”

After asking, he felt something amiss, ”Isn’t he Bai Ruozhu’s foster father? Isn’t he going to wait until Bai Ruozhu has her child before leaving?”

”He suddenly disappeared, and we don’t know if he left urgently for a consultation or whatnot; I have already sent people to search for him.” Jiang Yichun said.

The Emperor was not concerned, ”The medical saint often wanders outside, I don’t even fully understand his skills, nothing will happen; he might be back in a few days.”

...

At Bai Residence, Bai Ruozhu grew more anxious each day, if Gao Zhou hadn’t run into trouble, why would he leave without saying goodbye? She was close to delivering, wouldn’t he want to see his new grandson or granddaughter?

Feeling frustrated, she found the room stifling, and as it happened, it had rained in the morning, so the garden was quite cool. She asked Min Xiang and Min Ju to accompany her for a walk in the garden.

”Big brother! Big brother!” A pleasant voice came from afar, followed by the silvery laughter of a girl. Bai Ruozhu paused her steps, since when was there such a girl in the house?

Soon, a figure ran out, and wasn’t it Bai Ruolan who she had not seen for a long time?

”Ruolan, slow down, don’t let yourself fall,” Bai Zehao’s voice followed, as he leisurely walked out.

Bai Ruolan picked a flower, turned, and rushed towards Bai Zehao, jumping into his arms and trying to place the flower on his head.

Her actions were like a mischievous child, but Bai Ruozhu found it inexplicably strange, she called out ”Big brother,” and walked out from the side path.

Bai Ruolan showed a startled expression, continuously hiding behind Bai Zehao.

”Ruozhu, why go so far? Be careful not to tire yourself.” Bai Zehao said with concern.

”It’s just because I’m about to give birth that I need to walk more.” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile, then glanced at Bai Ruolan, ”Why is Ruolan hiding from me? After I saved her, she was closest to me, why doesn’t she recognize me now?”

Bai Zehao held onto Bai Ruolan, afraid she would suddenly rush towards Bai Ruozhu, ”Maybe she was frightened on the road. A few days ago, she ran out of her room, the whole residence looked for her, and I was the first to find her, so she became familiar with me.”

Bai Ruozhu found it even more odd, ”Did it happen before I returned?”

Bai Zehao nodded, ”Yes, but she’s been better since, just wants me to accompany her to play.” He said, smiling as if he was embracing his responsibilities as an older brother.
