Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1887: Chapter 1877: I Will Protect You

Bai Ruozhu gave him a sideways glance, ”Now you realize that I can’t be mistreated?”

Jiang Yichun awkwardly rubbed his nose, ”I definitely won’t dare in the future, calm down.”

At least his wife was willing to talk to him now.

Bai Ruozhu rolled her eyes at him again and said, ”Don’t interfere with my conversation with the female doctors. Go play with Dengdeng!”

Tian Fang and the other female doctors pursed their lips and snickered quietly. Their Chief Doctor was really something, truly impressive and authoritative.

Jiang Yichun frowned and walked out of the room, but he was a bit uneasy. He signaled Jianqi outside not to speak too much and hid outside to eavesdrop.

”How have things been at the Female Physicians Institution lately?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”There are fewer noble people in the palace now, so it’s not busy,” Wei Tianzhen replied, ”Everything is fine.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, thinking that this simplicity was actually better.

Of course, many officials were still observing, unlike before when everyone in the Capital City wanted to send their daughters to the palace.

”I’m most confident in your medical skills,” Bai Ruozhu began, ”I estimate that I’ll give birth in the next half-month. At that time, I’ll have you brought over to help with the delivery.”

Xi Hongyun was a bit worried, ”Master, after all, we’re not experienced midwives. Should we invite a famous midwife?”

”My family’s Nanny Zhang has some experience in childbirth and will assist at that time. Outsiders aren’t necessary,” Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but remember when Hao Baishuang delivered Yu Hongxiu, how Hao Baishuang even stabbed her with scissors. Childbirth is such a major event that strangers should not be involved.

”Also, I’m having twins this time. If there’s a special situation, don’t listen to what others say. Save the children first,” Bai Ruozhu’s expression became serious.

”Master Bai!” Tian Fang exclaimed, ”You can’t do this. If something happens to you, what about your family? Master Jiang will go crazy.”

Bai Ruozhu smiled, ”You haven’t been a mother yet, you don’t understand my feelings. If you abandon the children to save me, I won’t be able to rest easy for the rest of my life. But these are just hypotheticals. I’m in good health, and there won’t be any issues.”

Outside the window, Jiang Yichun’s face grew increasingly grim. He secretly made up his mind that he must stay nearby during Ruozhu’s delivery to ensure she doesn’t face any danger!

After the female doctors bid farewell, Jiang Yichun returned to the room, not telling Bai Ruozhu that he’d overheard everything, but he kept glancing at Bai Ruozhu’s belly.

In principle, the second birth should be easier than the first, but since Ruozhu was having twins, it couldn’t be considered like a normal situation. Besides, the previous journey where Ruozhu went to the Barbarian Clan to save him had taken a toll on her body.

Thinking of all this, he became even more worried.

”Ruozhu, I have to go out for a while. You and Dengdeng have dinner without waiting for me.” Jiang Yichun dropped a sentence and ran off, leaving Bai Ruozhu puzzled. Wasn’t it supposed to be a day of rest without anything to do?

Jiang Yichun rushed directly to find his father.

”Are you familiar with gynecology? Teach me!” Jiang Yichun said firmly.

Gao Zhou was a bit taken aback but then said, ”Not particularly skilled, but I’ve delivered babies before.”

Isn’t it said that men are not suitable for delivering women? Usually, women call a midwife. Who exactly did his father deliver?

Before he could ask, Gao Zhou said seriously, ”Your mother gave birth to you, and I was the one who delivered you.”

This didn’t feel quite right; he’d already mentioned not being skilled, yet he delivered him. To have survived was quite a feat, Jiang Yichun thought unhappily.

”Tell me what to pay attention to during delivery. If unexpected situations occur, what would they be?” Jiang Yichun asked with a stern face.

Gao Zhou looked him up and down and said, ”Are you planning to deliver Ruozhu yourself? Learning at the last moment won’t compare to an experienced midwife, so don’t burden her. Besides, even if you’re wearing armor, it might not be suitable for delivering.”

”I didn’t say I have to deliver her; I just want some knowledge for thorough preparation.” Jiang Yichun said impatiently, ”Are you going to teach or not? If you don’t want to, I’ll find an experienced midwife anyway.”

As he spoke, he was about to leave, but Gao Zhou hurriedly held him back, ”Alright, don’t scare the midwives away, or they’ll report you for disturbing the public.”

Helplessly, he started explaining, ”Various situations can occur before delivery, like malposition, which would cause difficult labor. An experienced midwife can reposition the fetus manually; I happen to know this technique and can teach you.”

As he spoke, he got a bit distracted, ”Back then, you were breech; I was scared and had a cold sweat, massaging your mother’s belly for half the night until you finally decided to change position, allowing for a smooth delivery.”

”What kind of woman was my mother?” Jiang Yichun asked, slightly lost. He initially had little emotional connection with the term ”mother” because he always thought of Gai Yalai, a selfish woman. Now knowing she’s not his biological mother, he became more curious.

”She was a wonderful woman, just a bit cold in demeanor. You inherited that from her, although she wasn’t cold to me.” Gao Zhou’s face showed a hint of pride.

”She was very intelligent, highly intuitive, quickly picking up anything she learned. When she was pregnant with you, she talked to you every day; she really cared about you. During the difficult labor, she pleaded for me to save your life and suggested a cesarean section.” Gao Zhou spoke with a choked-up voice.

”She held a hairpin at that time, almost piercing it into her throat. Fortunately, you were born smoothly; otherwise, she would rather die than see you in trouble.”

Jiang Yichun’s eyes reddened as he listened, recalling Bai Ruozhu’s determination to protect the children. He didn’t know what his biological mother was like, but one thing he was certain of—she must have been a good woman and mother like Ruozhu.

”She said post-delivery weakness made it hard for her to hide her presence, so her clan found her quickly. She actually didn’t want to leave but feared harm to both me and you, so she had no choice but to leave with the clan.” Gao Zhou said, clutching his head in pain. It was his ineptitude that couldn’t stop those people.

Jiang Yichun patted his father’s shoulder, ”We’ll definitely reunite with her one day.”

Gao Zhou sniffled, suppressing his sorrow, and mustered a smile, ”Yes, she’s so smart and capable, she’ll find a way to escape and come to us!”

Then he taught Jiang Yichun how to reposition a fetus and shared some precautions regarding delivery. The father and son discussed until late into the night.

When Jiang Yichun returned home, Bai Ruozhu was already asleep. He carefully lay down beside her, gently embraced her from behind, and whispered, ”I’ll protect you.”

In her sleep, Bai Ruozhu turned over, leaned against his shoulder, feeling immensely safe and comfortable, and fell into an even deeper sleep.

Here’s the fourth update, and there will definitely be a fifth before midnight. A buddy suggested I use a Zwilling knife to commit harakiri, but that would hurt too much. Boohoo, I must finish updating!
