Chapter 1861: Chapter 1861: Mo Beishan’s Selfish Motive

”Alright.” Jiang Yichun spoke even less now, and his demeanor was somewhat colder.

Mo Beishan was naturally sociable, and he went to the backyard with an arm around Jiang Yichun’s shoulders, and the two began to spar with their swords.

The sparring lasted for half an hour. Gao Zhou and the others all went back to rest; they didn’t have as much energy as Jiang and Mo. Bai Ruozhu had also returned to her room to rest long ago, though she secretly released Xiaohei, instructing it to keep an eye on Jiang Yichun.

Currently, Jiang Yichun had no one around him; relying solely on Lv and Tang Feng’s horsemen wasn’t enough. With Xiaohei added, she felt a bit more reassured.

Jiang Yichun and Mo Beishan, though, had started as strangers. After sparring, they ordered wine and some snacks, and continued drinking together in the Liang Pavilion in the backyard.

”Brother Jiang, aren’t you anxious to rid the evil energy from your body?” Mo Beishan suddenly asked.

”How could I not be anxious? I haven’t found a way yet.” Jiang Yichun’s face darkened. This damned evil energy prevented him from touching his wife, igniting his inner fury. He wished he could shred and pulverize Sangdian, the one who caused this harm.

Though Sangdian had already been burned to death, he had no place to vent his anger.

Mo Beishan chuckled, ”I have quite a few friends in the Jianghu. I’ll inquire for you, and let you know immediately if there’s a solution.”

Jiang Yichun cupped his fists in salute, ”Thank you. Let me know if there’s ever anything you need.”

Mo Beishan opened his mouth, hesitating slightly as a faint doubt showed in his eyes. He ended up lowering his head to drink, as Jiang Yichun happened to lift his glass, not noticing his expression change.

After a few drinks, Jiang Yichun was dizzy and slumped over the table.

”Brother Jiang? Brother Jiang, wake up!” Mo Beishan shook him. Seeing no response, he picked up his sword.

”Brother Jiang, don’t blame me. I’m reluctant to speak of this matter, but since you wish to dispel the evil energy, my actions only fulfill your wish, benefiting us both, right?” Mo Beishan muttered to himself, with a hint of guilt in his gaze towards Jiang Yichun.

In the end, he kept things hidden from his friend, not a very honorable action.

He gritted his teeth. Overall, it wasn’t harming anyone, so there was no need for unnecessary emotions.

He drew his sword, gathered his energy, and made a cut on Jiang Yichun’s palm with the sword tip.

Suddenly, a beastly roar sounded, and a black shadow lunged forward. Mo Beishan was tackled directly to the ground by Xiaohei.

The once ”unconscious” Jiang Yichun also got up from the table, looking coldly at the blood traces on his palm, and glared at Mo Beishan, ”As expected, you had ill intentions.”

”I...” Mo Beishan wanted to explain, but his mouth felt bitter. Xiaohei’s incredible strength made him want to resist, but Xiaohei’s sharp teeth were already nearing his throat, surely capable of piercing his blood vessels in the next second, then snapping his neck.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiao Ling, hearing Xiaohei’s roar, rushed over urgently; even Gao Zhou was only dressed in underwear.

”What happened?” Bai Ruozhu’s face darkened. Xiaohei wouldn’t randomly charge at Mo Beishan; surely, Mo Beishan had bad intentions.

”Damn!” Mo Beishan suddenly cried out, ignoring Xiaohei’s possible bite, and frantically broke away, darting towards his sword that had fallen to the ground.

He held the sword, shouting in panic, ”How could this happen, how could this happen?”

Everyone exchanged glances, and it was Yao Yuxuan who suddenly widened his eyes and exclaimed, staring at the sword in Mo Beishan’s hand: ”It’s the Sword of Silence!”

Bai Ruozhu looked at him puzzled, and he explained, ”The Sword of Silence is also regarded as the Evil Sword, because it requires the infusion of a lot of evil energy, turning it into a Killing Sword. Therefore, most righteous people dare not use it. Unexpectedly, after being missing for many years, it has reappeared.”

Mo Beishan held the sword, stood up, and angrily said, ”What evil sword? That’s just the ignorance of people. Life contains death, and death contains life. It needs evil energy to nourish the sword but it doesn’t mean it affects one’s heart nature. I just wanted it to have more spirit.”

Bai Ruozhu snorted coldly, ”If it doesn’t affect people’s hearts, then what are you doing?”

Mo Beishan paused, sighed, and dejectedly said, ”Fine, fine, it’s my fault for hiding it from you, leading to this. I deserve it!”

Bai Ruozhu looked at him, puzzled, then looked at Jiang Yichun. Even if caught red-handed, they weren’t usually this downcast, were they?

Soon, Jiang Yichun’s face changed, ”Did the evil energy in your sword get absorbed by me?”

Mo Beishan nodded. Gao Zhou rushed over, grabbing his collar, and angrily questioned, ”Did you do it on purpose? I knew you had ill intentions!”

”I admit I wanted my sword to absorb the evil energy from him, but wasn’t he trying to get rid of the evil energy?” Mo Beishan didn’t resist, letting Gao Zhou hold him, looking utterly despondent.

”If you could help him, why didn’t you just tell us?” Gao Zhou tightened his grip, making it hard for Mo Beishan to breathe.

”I didn’t want anyone to know I had the Sword of Silence. Years ago, my father lent it to a friend, who then coveted it and killed him. My father gave everything to take his friend down with him. The Sword of Silence came to me, and I feel it’s like my father accompanying me, not something to be taken away.”

Mo Beishan spoke with a pained expression, ”Moreover, many in the Jianghu claim righteousness and wouldn’t accept the sword that absorbs evil energy. I didn’t want to be branded as of the Demonic Path. Originally, I planned to secretly absorb Brother Jiang’s evil energy so the sword could gain more spirit. Even if kept secret, it would still help Brother Jiang. But now, the accumulated evil energy in the sword is gone, and my efforts over the years were wasted!”

Xiaohei had already returned to Bai Ruozhu’s side, growling displeasedly at Mo Beishan; was it blaming him? How could it allow someone to cut its master with a sword?

Jiang Yichun, with a serious expression, said, ”I pretended to be unconscious, and I did hear him say this. I intended to see what he planned to do but didn’t expect Xiaohei to rush out.”

Bai Ruozhu closed her eyes in frustration. If Xiaohei hadn’t intervened, even though Mo Beishan had malicious intent, it would have been good if the evil energy was absorbed.

But...

”Since you have a method, could you use the sword to absorb the evil energy back from him?” She yelled, anxious.

Gao Zhou let go of Mo Beishan, who picked up his sword and tried to channel energy, but slumped to the ground, exhausted.

”No, both the sword and I have lost our energy, and can’t do it for now. And now, the evil energy in him is too concentrated; it’s overtaken my sword, making it hard to absorb back.” Mo Beishan said in agony.

Bai Ruozhu angrily kicked him, ”If you’d said it sooner, this wouldn’t have happened!”

Jiao Ling hastily pulled Bai Ruozhu away, advising her not to get angry, while Gao Zhou attempted to hit Mo Beishan, only to be stopped by Lv.
