Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1750: Chapter 1750 Yingtong’s Troubles

Jiang Zhihe worried again, ”Eldest Sister-in-law, don’t quarrel with Eldest Brother because of this, just pay attention to that woman.”

Bai Ruozhu gritted her teeth, ”Don’t worry, if I argue, she would secretly be happy. I won’t be foolish.”

Jiang Zhihe was stunned, it seemed that woman didn’t like his sister-in-law. Clearly, she wasn’t a good person, otherwise, why wouldn’t she like someone as nice as his sister-in-law?

After dinner, the Jiang family went to the mansion that Shan Dian found. Bai Zhi’s family hadn’t found a place to stay, so they temporarily stayed at the Bai Family. Bai Zhi’s husband, Ding Feiyu, however, was very thoughtful and went out early the next day to look for a house.

Ding Feisheng went to the Guest Palace to meet the Emperor early in the morning. Upon returning and learning that Ding Feiyu had already rented a house, he wasn’t pleased and said, ”We don’t have much silver now. You spend money like this, do you think silver comes with the wind?”

Ding Feiyu frowned, ”Does Eldest Brother still plan to stay at the Bai Family forever? The Bai Family is Bai Zhi’s relatives, but they don’t owe us anything.”

”Since we are relatives, what does it matter if we stay temporarily? With two families together, it’s lively. Why create such distance?” Ding Feisheng said with a cold face.

Bai Zhi heard this and walked over, ”Then we’ll first move out with our mother, Eldest Brother can continue to stay if he wants.”

”You, don’t think you’re so great just because the Bai Family supports you. I am still your eldest brother!” Ding Feisheng shouted.

Ding Feiyu stood in front of Bai Zhi, looking disappointedly at his increasingly selfish eldest brother, and said, ”Since Eldest Brother’s thoughts differ from ours, we might as well separate. Everyone can decide where they want to live, we can’t control that.”

Ding Feisheng suddenly deflated, realizing that if separated, he would have no tie to the Bai Family. In the end, he could only grumble a few unwilling words and ultimately didn’t agree to separate.

The servants overheard the Ding family’s quarrel and quickly reported it to Bai Ruozhu. Bai Ruozhu had seen Ding Feisheng’s opportunistic nature but still liked Bai Zhi and Ding Feiyu, so he instructed the servants not to spread it around to save his sister-in-law from embarrassment.

When the Ding family was moving out, Bai Ruozhu quietly slipped a pouch to Bai Zhi, smiling, ”It’s a housewarming gift, keep it for yourself.”

Bai Zhi understood and blushed, refusing, ”Aunt has her own money.”

”It’s a token from me, don’t push it back and forth or let others see.” Bai Ruozhu pushed it to her and stepped back.

She thought that the Ding family would eventually separate, and her little aunt would be better off having some personal savings for the future.

Even before sending the Ding family off, Princess Yingtong rode a fast horse to the Bai Family’s Main Gate. She dismounted quickly, grabbed Bai Ruozhu’s sleeve, and said, ”Ruozhu, accompany me for a chat.”

When she finished speaking, she noticed many people at the Bai Family’s gate, all watching her. Feeling somewhat awkward, but used to being spoiled, she simply glared back fiercely.

Bai Ruozhu helplessly tugged at her, saying to Bai Zhi, ”Little Aunt, come visit when you have time. I have some matters to attend to, so I won’t see you off.”

”Alright, go quickly. We don’t live far. Come visit when you’re free.” Bai Zhi smiled and then got into the horse carriage.

Ding Feisheng fixed his gaze on Princess Yingtong, his face full of speculation, which was very off-putting. Princess Yingtong glared at him a few times before pulling Bai Ruozhu toward the yard.

”The one in the official uniform, is he your family? Why does he look so sleazy?” Princess Yingtong asked displeased.

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched, luckily, he’s not my family, otherwise, being called sleazy by you would be very embarrassing.

”He’s my little uncle’s brother. He probably guessed your identity, so he’s a bit curious. Just ignore him.” Bai Ruozhu pulled Yingtong towards the house, ”What’s wrong with you?”

Princess Yingtong suddenly burst into tears, hugging Bai Ruozhu, and cried even harder on Bai Ruozhu’s shoulder.

Bai Ruozhu’s body stiffened, she wasn’t that close with Yingtong, was she? This made her very uncomfortable.

”I don’t have many friends here, my cousin also left, now there’s no one to help me.” She said with a choked voice, wiping her tears with Bai Ruozhu’s shoulder.

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched but restrained the urge to push her away.

”Do you know how much pressure I’m under this time coming over? Because your Emperor had trouble, in the Western Regions, many old ministers opposed my marriage to Danliang, even my father wavered.”

Bai Ruozhu frowned, but she could also understand the King of Western Regions. No one wants their daughter to have a bad marriage and suffer later on.

”I used soft tactics and have the Qi Family’s guarantee, only then borrowed five thousand troops to support. A few days ago, my father urged me to return, must be someone said something again. So I went to find Chu Hai, wanting to marry him quickly, so the old ministers back home wouldn’t have any objections. But he didn’t want to!”

Yingtong released Bai Ruozhu’s shoulder, stomped her foot angrily, ”He didn’t want to, do you think he doesn’t like me anymore? Has another love interest?”

”No way, right?” Bai Ruozhu was shocked, with Chu Hai’s icy personality, it wasn’t easy for him to warm up to someone, ”And recently, there’s been no news of him having contact with any other woman.”

”But I’ve seen an album on his side, which must have been sent by a woman. He seems to like it very much, cherishing it greatly.” Yingtong pouted.

Bai Ruozhu secretly wished a peaceful resolution for Zhanna, hoping Yingtong doesn’t find out it was from her, otherwise, she might cause trouble for Zhanna.

But Zhanna had let go of her feelings for Chu Hai, and gifting the album was merely a pre-wedding blessing for him and the princess, which Bai Ruozhu was aware of.

”It can’t be, maybe it’s an album from my family’s production; perhaps he likes the story in it.” Bai Ruozhu pondered and explained.

”Then why? I asked him, and he refused to say.” Yingtong angrily kicked a stone on the ground, then grimaced in pain, seemingly hurt by the stone.

Bai Ruozhu held back her laughter, pretending not to notice this silly act, thought for a moment, and said, ”Maybe because Chu Hai is in mourning.”

”Mourning?” Yingtong didn’t understand.

”Danliang Country has a rule, when the Empress Dowager passes away, it’s a national mourning. Imperial relatives must observe mourning for one year and can’t marry. Ordinary officials observe for six months, and commoners for three months.” Bai Ruozhu explained.

”One year!” Yingtong jumped up, ”What kind of rule is that? Can’t it be changed? And even if that’s the case, he shouldn’t leave it unexplained.”

Bai Ruozhu thought of the tall, thin young man and couldn’t help but sigh, ”Don’t ask him about it. He’s unwilling to admit he’s observing mourning for the Empress Dowager. You must have heard about the grudges between his mother and the royal family. He’s aware of the Empress Dowager’s character; in his heart, he’s willing to observe mourning, but because his mother once cursed the Empress Dowager, he feels embarrassed to admit it.”

Yingtong couldn’t quite understand why it had to be so complicated, but thinking of Chu Hai’s troubled expression at that time, she felt Bai Ruozhu’s words were likely correct.
