Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1728: Chapter 1728: Isn’t it just about money?

This time the two sides confronted each other directly, Lin Jiang assuming the posture of an elder brother, reprimanded Lin Ping’er, ”How are you talking to your big brother? Have you grown so much that you no longer recognize your relatives? We haven’t even asked you for anything yet, and you’re already looking down on us? Aren’t you afraid people will gossip about you?”

Lin Ping’er kept a cold face, ”You know perfectly well why I’m like this towards you. My family doesn’t welcome you. You were the one who said you’d never associate with us again, and now you’re questioning me?”

Zhang Family smoothly intervened, ”Oh dear, you have such a stubborn temper, little aunt. Your brother only spoke in anger, and you took it seriously? Can real siblings hold grudges overnight? Come on, let’s sit down and talk properly.”

”No need to talk. Didn’t sister-in-law also tell me never to come back? How forgetful!” Lin Ping’er’s lips trembled with anger.

Bai Ruozhu exchanged a glance with her big brother, initially deciding not to interfere since it was after all their mother’s brother, but who knew there would be such an incident back then?

Clearly, she and her big brother were unaware of this matter.

”You can’t say it like that, we are your big brother and sister-in-law after all, you’re being too heartless.” Zhang Family also turned cold.

Lin Shenggen, who was sitting nearby, suddenly stood up, and knocked into the table due to his agitation, causing the cups on the table to clatter, immediately drawing everyone’s attention.

His face flushed crimson, clenched his fists tightly at his sides, and said angrily, ”Dad, Mom, that’s enough! How did you treat Aunt back then? What right do you have to criticize her now? I told you not to come today, yet you insisted. If you’re truly here to apologize and admit mistakes, we can all let bygones be bygones, but look at your attitude and intentions!”

Lin Jiang glared fiercely at Lin Shenggen, ”You brat! When is it your turn to speak here?”

”Back when cousin Ruozhu was pregnant and fell ill, Aunt’s family was really struggling, she came to ask you for two taels of silver, and not only did you not lend it, you mocked her, and even gossiped about cousin Ruozhu, angering Aunt to the point of almost fainting, despising her family for being poor, saying you’d never associate with them again, and now you’re here shamefully sticking back?” Lin Shenggen said angrily.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment, recalling that before her transmigration, she was indeed sick, but her parents never mentioned the lack of money in the family.

Lin Shengye, who had been silent, was stunned, there was actually such a thing? Two taels of silver wasn’t much money, how could his parents be so heartless back then? Thinking like this, Lin Shengye’s face also turned red, he shouldn’t have come!

Lin Jiang took a big step towards Lin Shenggen, raising his hand to deliver a hard slap across his face.

”You ungrateful brat! Whose son are you, talking about your own father like this? I’ll beat you to death today!” Saying this, he started hitting Lin Shenggen again.

”Uncle, stop!” Bai Zehao quickly rushed over to block him, not expecting a figure to suddenly charge out from the side, colliding with Lin Jiang and knocking him over.

Everyone was stunned, and only then did they realize that it was Lin Family’s Er Lang, Lin Shengye, who had charged over. His face was flushed, and his expression was somewhat contorted.

”Big brother isn’t wrong, why are you hitting him? You’re making a scene, but I won’t stay, I’m leaving!” Saying this, he turned around to leave, a flustered look flashed in his eyes. After all, he was just a teenage boy, and he was feeling a bit panicked.

”You unfilial child, if you leave don’t come back!” Lin Jiang almost lost his breath, covering his chest as he spoke, but his voice wasn’t as loud as before.

Lin Shengye, without turning back, said, ”I won’t come back, I’ll make my own way out there.”

He left quickly, no one had time to stop him, and everyone thought he was only speaking out of anger, until days later he didn’t return home, only then did they realize he had really gone out on his own. For this, Zhang Family came to Bai Family to make a fuss twice, but that’s another story.

Bai Zehao helped Lin Shenggen up, and quietly asked, ”Big cousin, are you okay?”

Lin Shenggen’s face showed both disappointment and embarrassment, he didn’t speak, just shook his head slightly.

At this moment, his hair was disheveled, and one side of his face was swollen high, with red finger marks, and his temples were also bruised by Lin Jiang.

The egg in Zhao Xia’s arms suddenly started crying loudly, crying for his dad, making everyone in the room feel a bit melancholic. Zhao Xia carried the child over, and softly said, ”Husband, let’s go back.”

Lin Ping’er, feeling sorry for her big nephew, didn’t dare to be too close to him at this time, fearing that Lin Jiang would take even more anger out on Lin Shenggen later.

Lin Shenggen bowed to her, ”Aunt, we’ll take our leave now, you and uncle take care of yourselves, and don’t let this upset you.”

Saying this, he led his wife and child out.

Zhang Family stomped her feet in anger, ”Who told you to leave? None of you have any regard for your parents?”

Bai Ruozhu shot a glance at Zhang Family, and quietly followed them out.

After circling around the main hall, Bai Ruozhu took a small porcelain box from her sleeve and handed it to Zhao Xia, saying, ”Big cousin sister, this is an ointment to reduce swelling and bruises, you can apply it on big cousin later.”

”Okay, thank you.” Zhao Xia took the ointment, then glanced at Lin Shenggen, who seemed lost and kept walking forward, unable to help but sigh again.

For others, separating from the family might be possible, but her husband, as the eldest son, had to endure it.

When Bai Ruozhu returned to the hall, she heard Lin Jiang accusing Lin Ping’er, saying, ”You’ve led the kids astray so well, acting pitiful in front of Dalang, making him resent me, and now you’ve incited Erlang to hit his parents; little sister, you really have skills!”

Lin Ping’er laughed in anger, ”We only meet every few years, how can I have led them astray? You don’t behave like proper parents, even the children are dissatisfied with you after being hit, yet you don’t self-reflect, but run to blame me? Alright, just leave, since you said you’d never associate with us again, let’s not meet in the future.”

Lin Jiang also straightforwardly tore the pretenses apart, ”You’ve grown successful and no longer recognize relatives? No way! I am your big brother, our parents passed early, I arranged your dowry, now you must support us, given your family’s current condition, gifting us ten acres of land shouldn’t be a problem.”

Bai Ruozhu found it amusing hearing this, what big words, asking for ten acres of land right off the bat? But truly giving him ten acres, he would probably come back wanting more soon.

She thought to have Jianqi drive them away, but then found it uninteresting, and quickly a plan formed in her mind.

She briskly walked into the hall, loudly saying, ”Alright, aren’t you just after money? I’ll give you silver to buy land yourself, stop upsetting my mom here.”

”Ruozhu!” Lin Ping’er disapprovingly called out.

Bai Ruozhu shook her head at her mom, signaling for her not to worry about this matter, Lin Ping’er thought about how her daughter was quite clever, so she let her handle it.
