Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1589: Chapter 1589 You Have to Take Responsibility_1

Jiang Zhihe was at heart a kind girl, she pushed Yu Chenghua and shouted, ”What are you doing standing there, go save her!”

Yu Chenghua was also shocked. Although he did not like the Dou Family, he did not want Dou Yun to truly hang herself at his doorstep.

Zao Bo below was also calling out in agony, ”I can’t hold her, someone help quickly!”

Yu Chenghua leaped up and forcefully pulled the hemp rope from Dou Yun’s neck, and Dou Yun fell from the air.

”Zao Bo, be careful!” As Dou Yun seemed about to crash onto Zao Bo, Yu Chenghua’s heart tightened. Zao Bo was of an age where being struck by a falling body would certainly result in serious injury.

In his urgency, he had to grab Dou Yun, but he did not expect Dou Yun, who had just regained her breath, to latch onto him like she had found a lifeline, suddenly clinging to him like an octopus.

When Jiang Zhihe saw the person had not stopped breathing, she took a deep breath of relief, but immediately her face turned a shade paler with parts of her turning white—any woman would struggle to see another woman embracing her husband, right?

Yu Chenghua, regaining his senses, pushed Dou Yun away and hurriedly looked at Jiang Zhihe, fearing that his wife, whom he had not easy married, would be angry with him because of this.

Seeing his reaction, Jiang Zhihe felt somewhat better, and with a smile said to him, ”It’s good that everything is alright now.”

Dou Yun fell to the ground, covering her throat with her hands, coughing desperately, but sadly no one inquired about her condition.

Yu Chenghua went over to help Zao Bo up, asking with concern, ”Zao Bo, are you all right?”

”I am fine, I am fine, this old frame of mine is still quite solid,” Zao Bo waved his hand hastily and then looked towards Dou Yun with a heavy sigh.

What a fine girl she was, why would she do such a thing? Was there something she couldn’t get over?

At this moment Yu Chenghua’s two guards, dressed only in their underwear, ran out, both appearing drunk. Seeing the rope on the door frame and Dou Yun on the ground, both couldn’t help but gasp.

”My lord, it was our negligence,” the two bowed and admitted their guilt.

Yu Chenghua waved his hand, ”It was I who permitted you to drink to your hearts’ content today and told you not to stand guard tonight; it is not your fault.”

On a day of great joy, he had given his subordinates a day off, which had led to this farce by Dou Yun.

Zao Bo glared at the two, ”Both of you should go rest now. Not even properly dressed—in the future with a lady of the house, you should be more careful.”

Blushing, the two bowed in unison and retired, scurrying back to put on their coats, hinting at how casual the men in the yard usually were.

Jiang Zhihe turned her face away in embarrassment, but then saw Dou Yun getting up from the ground and suddenly lunging at them.

”What are you doing!” Yu Chenghua, being a warrior, responded incredibly swiftly, shielding Jiang Zhihe and avoiding the ferocious Dou Yun. Dou Yun missed her grab and stumbled, nearly falling to the ground.

Having barely steadied herself, she glared at the two, her voice hoarse, ”Who gave you permission to hold me just now? My reputation is ruined because of you. Since you held me, you’re responsible for it now!”

Jiang Zhihe was completely stunned. She couldn’t believe that Dou Yun could say such things. Was this still the cousin she knew?

Dou Yun felt somewhat embarrassed under Jiang Zhihe’s gaze, but she had already decided to act recklessly. Not only did she not want Jiang Zhihe to have good days, but wouldn’t it be even better for her to cause a commotion and enter the Yu Residence?

Of course, there was also the moment she had unconsciously thrown herself into Yu Chenghua’s arms, feeling his solid chest and strong arms, causing her heartbeat to pound rapidly.

She knew that her accelerated heartbeat wasn’t due to breathing difficulties, but rather because she felt something special for the man before her. After all, she was a nineteen-year-old girl and naturally understood what it meant to be moved by feelings.

So, even though she thought about causing trouble for Jiang Zhihe, deep inside she was very much looking forward to marrying Yu Chenghua.

”Nonsense! I was just saving your life in a critical moment. How does that ruin your reputation? Besides, it was you who threw yourself at me. Do you have no shame? I already have a wife, and I won’t be involved with another woman. Give up,” Yu Chenghua said with a cold face.

It must be said that he wasn’t completely clueless; he guessed Dou Yun’s intentions in an instant, and he rejected her firmly.

At this moment, Jiang Zhihe was both upset and moved. Upset because her cousin was so shameless, and moved by her husband’s attitude in dealing with the situation.

Dou Yun’s expression turned ferocious. ”At most, I’ll just humbly accept being a concubine, but since you’ve held me, you must take responsibility! Jiang Zhihe, your husband has ruined my purity. Are you just going to stand by and watch your cousin be driven to death?”

”They say nothing is scarier than a person who has lost their shame. Cousin, aren’t you embarrassed to say such things?” Jiang Zhihe asked angrily.

”In the end, it’s all self-interest. I can’t shake your status, so what are you afraid of? If you don’t agree, then I’ll just die at your doorstep!” Dou Yun’s voice was hoarse, and the marks on her neck were particularly glaring, combined with her current expression, she looked like a madwoman.

Yu Chenghua naturally took Jiang Zhihe back inside and locked Dou Yun out at the front door. Dou Yun made a ruckus outside all night, not only affecting his and Jiang Zhihe’s mood but also disturbing the nearby neighbors. By dawn, someone couldn’t bear it anymore and went to report to the authorities, and it was the officers who came to take Dou Yun away.

Having recounted these events, Yu Chenghua said with a face full of shame, ”Big sister, it’s my incompetence that allowed her to throw herself at me. Last night, Zhihe was secretly shedding tears all night, and no matter how I tried to comfort her, it was no use. She said she knew it wasn’t my fault, but with Dou Yun being mad, she was sure to cause endless trouble.”

Bai Ruozhu’s face darkened. Dou Yun was only making a disturbance and wouldn’t be charged with a serious crime. Once released, she would surely continue to make trouble at the Yu Residence, shamelessly.

”You didn’t consummate the marriage last night?” Bai Ruozhu, after listening for a long time, suddenly realized this issue.

Yu Chenghua’s face flushed red to his neck. He hadn’t expected his big sister to be so direct and coughed a few times before saying, ”I—I didn’t want to force Zhihe.”

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but sigh. It was supposed to be the most romantic night of their marriage, but such disheartening events had occurred one after another. Who wouldn’t lose their mood, especially when it was Jiang Zhihe’s first time, and she must have been nervous?

Yu Chenghua once again bowed to Bai Ruozhu, ”Big sister, I want to ask you to persuade Zhihe. She’s been very upset since this morning, and I did something wrong and don’t know how to comfort her. I’m even more ashamed to say anything to big brother.”

”I’ll go find Zhihe now. It’s better for women to talk about these things. You should also inform Achun, lest the Dou Family spread news of this incident later,” Bai Ruozhu said after thinking.

”Yes, thank you, big sister.” Yu Chenghua once again expressed his gratitude.

Bai Ruozhu went directly to the Yu Residence from the Palace and, as expected, saw Jiang Zhihe sitting on the bed in the room, lost in thought and looking extremely dejected.

Jiang Zhihe was different from her, she didn’t particularly like Dou Yun, and their interaction was brief; so whatever Dou Yun did, she only felt anger and contempt. But Jiang Zhihe had grown up in the same yard as her cousin, they must have played together as children, and their feelings for each other went without saying. Yet, she never expected that Dou Yun would become such a blight upon her as they grew older.
