Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1544: Chapter 1544: I Have a Plan_1

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but quicken her pace, while Jiang Yichun dashed to her side in a flash.

He opened his arms wanting to embrace her, but this was the entrance to Cining Palace, where guards watched the gate and Royal Guards patrolled nearby, with eunuchs attending to the doors and tidying up. Certainly not a place for intimacy.

Bai Ruozhu’s face turned red, and she quickly jumped away.

”Why didn’t you just wait inside for me? Fancying yourself a door god?” she asked with flushed cheeks.

Jiang Yichun, having missed holding his wife’s tender body, felt quite disgruntled, and it took him a good effort to suppress his irritation before speaking in a deep voice, ”I was eager to see you.”

She realized that standing by the door meant he could see her just that bit sooner.

”I received a message last night to enter the Palace, but the Harem was already off-limits to outsiders. I sought an audience with His Majesty, who unexpectedly said he wasn’t in the mood to see me. After much difficulty, I’ve finally gotten a chance to visit you. Is everything alright?” Jiang Yichun explained why he had only now arrived.

She couldn’t help laughing, ”Why does it feel like I’m in jail and you’ve finally gotten time for a prison visit?”

Jiang Yichun reached out to grab her hand, ”You were supposed to go home, but they insist on keeping you in the Inner Palace. Isn’t that like being in jail?”

She saw someone notice them, hurriedly tried to retract her hand, but this time he held on tightly.

”Don’t move, the sleeve is covering it. If you move again, others will notice,” Jiang Yichun said with a mischievous smile tugging at his lips.

Sure enough, Bai Ruozhu’s hand stiffened, stopping obediently, though her muscles were somewhat tense. His fingertips rubbing inch by inch across her palm finally made her relax.

She felt her palm grow warm and moist, and the teasing touch made her heart soften in response.

”How’s everything at home? Has Dengdeng been fussy?” Bai Ruozhu whispered.

”Not at all. Dengdeng knows you have important matters to handle and has been exceptionally well-behaved, even saying he’ll eat lots to be pudgy for mommy,” Jiang Yichun’s voice was very gentle, and his face showed a fond smile, which made Bai Ruozhu feel even more tender inside. She wished she could go home with him right away and spend quality time with her husband and child.

”And what about dad and mom? I’m just afraid they’re too worried,” Bai Ruozhu frowned slightly.

Jiang Yichun couldn’t help but reach out to smooth the creases on her forehead, smiling as he said, ”I discussed with the second brother and told dad and mom that you were detained in the Palace to treat a noble, and that you’d be returning home a few days late. They didn’t really suspect anything.”

Bai Ruozhu breathed a sigh of relief, ”Good, you and the second brother have been thoughtful. If everything’s fine at home, how did you manage to get to the Inner Palace? After all, you are an outsider, it must have been inconvenient for you.”

Jiang Yichun frowned slightly, ”Don’t want to see me? Can’t I come to check on my wife without a reason?”

She well knew his intentions; she just wanted to tease him and have him admit it outright.

”Oh, so you’re saying you missed me?” Bai Ruozhu said as she blinked her eyes, a smug expression on her face.

Jiang Yichun couldn’t help but laugh, and suddenly leaned over to whisper in her ear with his warm breath, ”Yes, I’ve missed you so much that I couldn’t sleep. At night, not being able to touch you makes me feel so uneasy.”

At this, Bai Ruozhu’s face turned as red as the base of her neck. Sure enough, when it came to shamelessness, she was completely overpowered by this man. The worst part was that he not only said such ambiguous things, but he also blew hot air into her ear, making her throat feel hot and itchy.

Seeing her blush and lower her head, revealing a stretch of her snowy neck, Jiang Yichun suddenly found his heart racing and his body heating up, but they were inside the Inner Palace, where even holding hands had to be done sneakingly. He had kindled a fire within him, and isn’t that just torturing himself?

In the distance, the Royal Guards on patrol had looked over several times, and it was not just one person watching. Realizing this, Bai Ruozhu quickly tugged at the palm of his hand and said, ”Let’s go in and see the Empress Dowager. It’s improper for you to be standing out here like this.”

Jiang Yichun felt frustrated, but there was nothing he could do. He could only think about hurrying to speak with the Emperor to let his wife return home so as not to affect their marital life.

The two entered Cining Palace to pay their respects to the Empress Dowager. The Empress Dowager was in a downcast mood and wasn’t in the mood for much conversation with Jiang Yichun, only saying that they should spend more time with Princess Diao Bin so she would not brood unnecessarily.

The pair then made their way towards Princess Diao Bin’s room. By this time, Princess Diao Bin had already pushed the sorrow of her white hair being seen by everyone that morning to the back of her mind. Now, all she could think about was the image of Ning Yu seeing her bathe. She felt both shy and annoyed with herself for not scolding Ning Yu, considering it somewhat frivolous, but also worried that she might have been too harsh and hurt Ning Yu’s feelings.

Such is the dilemma of someone in love.

”Diao Bin, do you want to marry Ning Yu?” Bai Ruozhu suddenly asked.

Diao Bin came back to her senses, her cheeks flushing with a rush of red. ”I, I...”

”At times like this, you cannot let shyness delay your destiny. It’s time for you to make up your mind,” Bai Ruozhu said, touching the white hair on her head with some pity. She wondered whether Yao Yuxuan would be able to cure her.

Yao Yuxuan said that healing used essence, which might be a vague term. Bai Ruozhu guessed it was similar to using a supernatural power to heal, and although miraculous, it was also limited in energy as Yao Yuxuan said.

Anything that went against nature had significant drawbacks, like when Yao Yuxuan fell ill after healing someone. But that illness was probably not as simple as it seemed, which was why Yao Yuxuan was now reluctant to take action. Under the current circumstances, could he really turn her white hair back to black?

”Diao Bin, Ruozhu is right, you’ve already made up your mind deep down, so you can’t hesitate any longer,” Jiang Yichun said.

Diao Bin nodded vigorously. ”I’ve made up my mind, nothing can change my mind.”

Seeing her determination, Bai Ruozhu felt that matters would be easier to handle. ”I actually have a plan that could prevent you from having to marry into the Turkic tribes and still let you be with Ning Yu, but the cost is great. You might suffer greatly for a long time and even have to give up your current identity and all your wealth and honor,” she said.

”I’m not afraid of suffering or losing my princess status, but would I have to leave my mother and brother? My mother is getting old, and I cannot be unfilial,” Diao Bin said, starting to cry.

The door was suddenly pushed open, and the Empress Dowager rushed in, embracing Diao Bin and saying through her tears, ”Silly child, I know you’re filial, but how can I bear to see you unhappy? Besides, if you were to really marry for an alliance, I would still not be able to see you often. It’s better for you to go far away with Ning Yu and live your own simple life. Ning Yu is a good boy, he will surely not let you suffer.”

Bai Ruozhu listened on the side with emotion. Her silly senior brother was still worrying like crazy, fearing that the Empress Dowager would not agree. However, his sincere devotion to Diao Bin had already won the approval of both the Empress Dowager and the Emperor.
