Chapter 1534: Chapter 1534: Divorcing the Wife to Marry the Princess_1

In the court, the Turkic Prince made his audience with an air of aggression in front of everyone.

”Prince Saihan pays his respects to Your Majesty. When does Your Majesty deem it appropriate for this Prince to marry Princess Diao Bin and bring her back to my country?” Saihan’s sudden remark caused the civil and military officials to frown. Such matters should have been arranged by the Emperor before bringing them up. What did this questioning imply? It was as if Danliang Country was going to renege on the marriage.

Tang Yin thought for a moment and said, ”The Imperial Sister has contracted a strange illness and has not been cured for a long time. She has not appeared in public for a while now; I plan to arrange for another princess to marry Prince Saihan...”

”Your Majesty!” Prince Saihan interrupted Tang Yin directly, ”I wish to marry a real princess, your Imperial Sister. You cannot fob me off with someone else.”

”How dare you! The Turkic Prince speaks rudely. Do you really think Danliang has no one to respond?” one of the military officers shouted angrily.

Prince Saihan laughed, ”I was merely impatient, which proves that my heart has long been set on Princess Diao Bin. I wish to marry only her, and even if she has a serious illness, I will not disapprove of her in the slightest.”

Nice words, but isn’t it just because Princess Diao Bin is the Imperial Sister that he does not disapprove?

”The Imperial Sister is too weak to travel a long distance, let alone move to the Turkic lands. If she can’t even make the journey, something might happen along the way, turning a joyous occasion into a disaster,” said Tang Yin as he sighed, ”I dearly love this sister of mine and originally wanted her to marry the bravest man on the grasslands. Now it seems she is not blessed enough to do so.”

”May I ask what strange illness Princess Diao Bin has? Could it be that Bai Ruozhu, known as the Divine Doctor and Chief of the Medical Alliance, is also at her wits end? If so, isn’t she leading Alliance in vain?” Saihan swiftly changed the topic, bringing it back to Bai Ruozhu.

”The Turkic Prince truly boasts grand claims. Surely there are incurable diseases in the Turkic lands as well, or else wouldn’t all Turkic people live to a ripe old age? A doctor is not an Immortal, Prince. Do not deliberately target others,” Bai Guanghe, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Rites, responded without reservation.

Jiang Yichun also stepped forward, casting a cold glance at Saihan, ”If the Prince is here for a marriage alliance, show some sincerity. You lost a duel to me and now you want to take my wife as a consolation? That does not seem like something a man of the grasslands would do.”

Coldness finally appeared in Saihan’s eyes. Narrowing his eyes at Jiang Yichun, he said, ”Why does Lord Jiang block my wish to marry Princess Diao Bin? Have you been coveting the beauty of Princess Diao Bin since childhood? How can the Princess be betrothed to another? If that is the case, why doesn’t Lord Jiang divorce his wife and marry the Princess instead? If that’s too much, I might as well take your divorced wife, bringing a Divine Doctor back to my country would suffice, and the marriage alliance could still stand.”

A stir erupted in the court; the Turkic Prince’s words were simply blasphemous. How could he imply that Lord Jiang coveted the Princess and then spitefully claim he’d marry Jiang’s wife? Wasn’t it well known that Lord Jiang fiercely protected his wife?

Jiang Yichun’s eyes flashed with a murderous intent as he lunged toward Saihan with swift strides. Saihan did not dodge, meeting the charge head-on and they began to fight.

”Protect the Emperor!” A guard yelled, rushing to shield the Emperor, while the court officials hastily dispersed, fearful of being caught in the melee. Although they were worried, they silently rooted for Jiang Yichun, hoping he would thoroughly thrash the insolent Turkic Prince.

Tang Yin from his Dragon Throne had a cold light in his eyes; he, too, wished to kill this insolent Prince Saihan at this moment, the same man who was once Li Yi, an infiltrator in Danliang Country. However, as the sovereign, he had to consider the greater scheme, realizing that impatience may spoil grand plans...

His lips moved slightly, but upon seeing the rage on Jiang Yichun’s face, he ultimately closed his mouth.

Before the watchful eyes of the crowd, Jiang Yichun and Prince Saihan exchanged several dozen moves, then Jiang Yichun’s right hand formed a Sword Finger, suddenly striking Prince Saihan’s chest. Saihan staggered back two steps, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.

”Enough! What does it mean to fight in the Court?” Tang Yin’s voice rose timely, looking at Jiang Yichun, he said, ”The Turkic Prince grew up in the remote mountains; it’s understandable if he doesn’t know the proprieties. Why must you, Jiang Aiqing, be so angry? After all, he is a distinguished guest of Danliang. You should withdraw immediately and not harm our guest further.”

Jiang Yichun bowed his head and retreated to the side, while the other court officials hastily returned to their places, each concealing a smile and secretly praising Jiang Yichun’s Martial Arts and the Emperor’s witty remark.

Prince Saihan suffered some internal injuries and held his breath, unable to retort in time. By the time he wished to speak again, Tang Yin said, ”Today’s morning court shall conclude here. Prince and the Turkic envoys should discuss the marriage alliance further; any thoughts you may have can be shared in detail with Us in the Imperial Study Room. Alright, court is dismissed!”

The crowd shouted in unison, ”Long live the Emperor, long live, long live!” Then Tang Yin gave Jiang Yichun a meaningful glance and left with his entourage.

Prince Saihan caught his breath, realizing the futility of further dispute, squinted his wolf-like eyes at the retreating figure of Jiang Yichun, and muttered under his breath, ”Sooner or later, I will make you wish you were dead!”

When Jiang Yichun went to see Tang Yin, Tang Yin naturally did not criticize him, but instead praised his Martial Arts skills, considering he took care of Prince Saihan.

”Your Majesty, it would be a grave mistake to marry Princess Diao Bin to Li Yi,” Jiang Yichun was not pleased by the Emperor’s praise, his expression turning even more somber.

Tang Yin sighed, ”We see the love between Diao Bin and Ning Yu, and know Ning Yu would not hesitate to sacrifice his life for her. How could We have the heart to disrupt such a pair of lovebirds? Furthermore, that Prince Saihan is vicious and arrogant, how could We rest assured giving Diao Bin to him?”

Jiang Yichun’s lips moved slightly, but in the end, he held back. He wanted to say that Diao Bin was practically Li Yi’s own sister, and her marriage to him would be incestuous. But then he thought of that hidden secret and swallowed his words.

...

Prince Saihan’s injuries were not grave, merely some minor internal damage. In his foul mood, he called his subordinates together to go to the ”Welcome Guest” restaurant for a meal. Knowing that ”Welcome Guest” was partly owned by Bai Ruozhu, and not being able to take out his anger on Jiang Yichun, he decided to find trouble with Bai Ruozhu instead.

The ”Welcome Guest” shopkeeper had already received instructions from Bai Ruozhu, and his heart jumped when he saw several people dressed as Turkic enter. He greeted them with a forced smile and carefully handled the service.

”Get us your finest private room here, quiet and undisturbed, and make sure no one interrupts the Prince’s meal, or else face death!” Prince Saihan’s voice boomed, echoing through the Main Hall. Many patrons shrank back; some simply threw down their silver and left.

The shopkeeper didn’t dare to say much and was about to lead Prince Saihan to an upstairs private room when a pretty figure walked in through the door.

Damn, why has Bai Ruozhu come at this time? If she encounters this Turkic Prince, all is lost! The shopkeeper, anxious as an ant on a hot pan, purposely raised his voice and said, ”Gentleman, please, to our upstairs room.”

This was his way of alerting Bai Ruozhu, hoping she would quickly get out of the way, but he didn’t anticipate Prince Saihan’s acute senses. Suddenly turning around, Saihan’s wolfish eyes caught sight of Bai Ruozhu, and like a predator sighting its prey, they gleamed intensely.
